Dior Homme 2020 by Dior is a Woody fragrance for men. Dior Homme 2020 was launched in 2020. The nose behind this fragrance is François Demachy. Top notes are Bergamot, Pink Pepper and elemi; middle notes are Atlas Cedar, Cashmere Wood and Patchouli; base notes are Iso E Super, Haitian Vetiver and White Musk.

Dior Homme, a powdery iris and woody scent for men, was introduced in the original version in 2005 and then later came the new 2011 version. The 2020 version of Dior Homme Eau de Toilette is announced with the slogan "I'm Your Man." The 2011 edition remains on the shelves under the name, Dior Homme Original.

The new Dior Homme is created by Dior in-house perfumer Francois Demachy who wanted to redefine masculine sensuality. The fragrance is intensely woody, warm, and sensual. A virile accord of Atlas cedar and the warmth of cashmere wood are pampered with spicy aromas.

"This new Dior Homme has an unmistakably virile signature that does not prevent it from developing tender, sensual accents. It basically draws the portrait of a modern man." François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator

According to the perfumer, this is a fragrance overdosed with carnal woody notes, and it represents a return to the basics: classic and simplicity. It is clear, clean, gentle, and woody but also slightly sweet, and wears like a second skin.

The new bottle follows the architectural design of its predecessors, with a more prominent logo and perfume name on the plug. The face of the advertising campaign remains actor Robert Pattinson.

Dior Homme is available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette with the accompanying grooming line, now available in new packaging.

Nope they changed it again. I went to Macys today to grab another bottle as my last 2020 is almost gone. This has been changed again, like the user below mentioned this now smells almost identical to dior homme sport. So much so I had to go back to the counter to make sure I didnt actually spray the sport on my hand. I cant stand sport and was bummed to see it is now no more. I even sprayed a different bottle in nordstrom and got the same exact result. I live in south florida so not sure what youre seeing in your area.

Bingo30

There is nothing special or exciting going on here. Smells flat and boring. Dior seems to be having an identity crisis with this one.

Doesn’t smell bad, however. Sideways thumb.

I've had a little bottle of this that is a splash on sample that came with my order of Sauvage Elixir months ago. Initially I didn't think much to take one of my old vial samples and clean it out and pour some of this into it so I have a sprayable decant of this stuff but I am an absolute dumbass for not doing so.

I thought at first using the splash on bottle that this stuff was weak as hell, but after finally spraying it on, it is absolutely amazing. Woody and Musky are my main takes here. Tiny bit of vetiver showing itself, pink pepper especially right after spraying.

All seasons, all times of day, it just smells great. Seems to have decent longevity too. I actually ordered a full size bottle after picking up Homme Sport and falling slightly in love there. Again, I've said this in a couple of my other Dior reviews, but this stuff just has that signature Dior touch. Or it could be the perfumer. I've come to notice I've loved everything I've smelled that he has created. So it could also be that, but it just has a very signature touch to it that I pick up in DHI, DHS, and all of the Sauvage line.

I may be the very first to make this comparison, however while in no shape is this cloning/or being cloned by, but I VERY much detect Diesel Only the Brave here after the drydown. I am VERY happy about this, as OTB has long been one of my favorite smells to have, but the performance, especially with my collection being mostly all decent performers, left a lot to be desired. This has the longevity I wanted out of the original Diesel OTB, and after drying down, Homme adds a SUPER sophisticated touch to that OTB DNA for my nose. I love this very much about it, and it likely will put this as an overall favorite for me. Would love to smell the various versions of this over the years, but I'll gladly run through the bottle I just ordered if not more than one!

Noctis21

Those who say " The longevity is weak ", it's because you have an anosmia (ISO-E super is known for doing that). This is the perfect signature scent.

lostscent

Not ideal marketing for this fragrance. It would have served this scent better if they gave it a different name instead of being unnecessarily weighed down by the legacy of the "Dior Homme" moniker which seemed to have caused a sh*tstorm upon release.

This is obviously not an homage to the original "Dior Homme". Another name like "Dior Reboot" would have sufficed.

Anyway, to the smell: for me, this is a fresh, slightly cooling combination of white musk, tons of ISO E Super, slight warmth from cashmere wood and a little bit of pepper. For comparison, this does remind me of Zaharoff Signature Royale X or The Body Shop's White Musk for Men...key term being "reminds me of"...not a clone of. Meaning, it's your standard, classy white musk smell but really freshened up with ISO E Super and some pepper/cedar. And the combo of white musk and cashmere wood does create a slight "clean male sweat" aroma that Zaharoff Signature Royale X has.

This is a swiss-army knife fragrance...all seasons, all occasions. I like it but don't love it. There is a "mall" or "Sephora" characteristic to it that pulls it in the direction of "mass appeal"...but not all the way. Ultimately it's a decent, but not ground-breaking, male-geared scent for a brand that was seemingly rebooting their flagship line.

RobHillSF

at first, it gives cosmetic counter lady vibes, but quickly turns more masculine in a fresh and delicious way. each time i wear this, i'm surprised by how much i like it, especially on fabric.

Jackw9

I’d give this one a 7/10. It’s a great versatile fragrance from dior that can be worn in most seasons as a daily. My only complaint is that the pepper in the opening is a bit too strong for me, but if you can sit through the opening it turns into a nice woody citrus smell.

I’ll be selling a 65% full 50ml bottle if anybody is interested.

Jorrdann

I'll reinforce what Sasha_M just said.

It seems to be stronger lately than it was before (Not that I had an issue with performance before that much), it's clearly better in performance now though.

Can't put my finger on what's changed smell wise either, it's just more intense.

Sasha_M

This is my 3rd time I've been testing this one....and let me tell you, they've changed something. Currently I'm using 12/2023 batch and it smells great! It smells similar to 2017 sport version. Longevity and projection are improved as well.
If you tried this gem year or two ago and you didn't like it, maybe you should consider to try newer batch one more time.
Enjoy.

Dior Homme 2020 is a modern take on classic masculinity. Its fresh opening gives way to a prominent dry woody Iso E Super note. Its EDT performance is commendable, but prolonged exposure may lead to noseblindness. Overall, it's a pleasant, manly fragrance for the contemporary man.

The Dior Homme line can be confusing, especially considering the absence of iris in this one. A different name could have alleviated confusion and better reflect the essence of this fragrance.

PS If you're wondering, why not just wear Molecule 01? If you like Iso E Super, it's a good option. But Dior Homme 2020 has more to offer than just that one scent note.

Welshguy

This is pretty nice. If you're looking for 'modern day man scent' this is it. Don't get confused between the different Dior Homme's though. This one is the 'I'm actually a totally different scent' in the same name bottle fragrance. This one is woody and a bit of citrus in a solid performing eau de toilette. I'd say very versatile, however it also falls into safe blind buy territory and I'd describe as a high end designer edt. Might even pickup a bottle myself at some point but its nothing to get 'excited about'. Dior Homme Original and Parfum are unbelievable though, those ones are masterpieces in my opinion. This one is a solid 8.5/10

jacquesbyrne

Ever wanted to smell like fancy pencil shavings? This is the fragrance for you!

Somanysmells

This one caught me off guard the first time I smelled it. It wasn't what I was expecting. It wasn't what I was looking for. Yet, I absolutely fell in love with it. It took me a few wearings of my sample but it won me over. To my nose it is absolutely classy and stunning and I feel it when I wear it. It's one of the few scents that seem to elevate my mood. I personally think it's great for any time. To sum it up, its a sharp peppery, citrus wood scent with the perfect smidge of vetiver and musc. I'm about it.

paulquality

Incredibly smooth, musky and sensual wood scent. Yes its simple, but that's exactly what it needs to be. I go noseblind to this pretty quick if I overspray to much by my nose. At first I was so dissapointed, I literally couldnt smell it 10 minutes after spraying it, but then 2 hours later I started catching whiffs of it in the air, and immediately knew it would be in my collection forever. My girlfriend seems to love it, as both times I've worn it she can't stay away from my neck.

Great versatility, would probably avoid in high summer heat, but here in the midwest you can wear this most of the year. For an EDT this thing performs on me. Soft projection 2-3ft for about 2hrs, then becomes a closer skin scent for a solid 8-10 hrs (23 batch). Spray on sides and back of neck to avoid noseblindness (even if you still get it, trust me people will smell you) Lasts forever on clothes too.

Again, not the most exciting frag, but its incredibly effective. It's a dumb reach woody/musky/sexy scent that any guy can pull off. I loved it so much I paid retail for it, but if you can get it discounted even better.

Dior Homme, classy gentleman

Opening Notes:
Immediately I get the woody ISO-E-Super, bergamot and pink pepper.

Heart Notes:
In the mid I smell the same as the top but the patchouli can be found if you look, giving it an earthy fresh smell.

Base Notes:
wood, wood, and more wood. This is sooo good, the iso-e-super is just out 40 minutes into the fragrance and you just smell woody in the best way possible.

Sillage:
About arms length for 1-2 hours, then the next 4 it sits close to the skin.

Season/Occasion:
I imagine this would work best in the end of summer to beginning of winter. To me this smells like fall and autumn. You can really use this year round though, anytime anywhere. I also would pick something else if you’re trying to make a statement, but for intimate situations this drives women insane.

Overall Impression:
Really really really good, I’m 17 and believe anyone can pull this off regardless of age. I believe the entire Dior Homme line is niche-quality fragrances for a designer price. Really love this one 10/10 for me guys.

Gidimeister

If you are prone to going anosmic (or noseblind) to Iso E Super as I am, you will want to go easy on the trigger with this and spray away from your nose. Trust me, this stuff lasts, but the Iso will have you thinking it vanishes in an hour. (I have the same experience with the Iso-heavy Terre D'Hermes EDT)

SalivatingSoul-stice

I didn't expect to like this as much as I do now. It has a grapefruit opening with a smooth iso e super finish. Simple but very effective for spring n summer! Glad to have this 1

Update....this has the same iso e super that BDC parfum has no wonder why I love this😆

Kuquii1974

Pretty awesome stuff. This dries down into something quite amazing. It's a toss up between this and Sauvage who comes first but this is a more mature scent.

bljczmln

Soft and gentlemanly. That is what comes to my mind when smelling this fragrance. This is classy dumb reach and i love it. Very woody thanks to the cedar and Iso E Super, basically an Iso E Super fragrance. Fresh citrusy opening, and a woody drydown that stays fresh througout the lifetime of the fragrance. I keep coming back to it eversince i got it, it's my most worn lately. The performance is insane for an EDT. One of the longest lasting perfumes from my collection, 10+ hours, yes 10 hours, but you do get nose blind to it if your trigger finger is twitching more than it needs to. Beast projection too. Being a "dumb reach" it could be worn at anytime, to anywhere and it will fit that occasion every single time and people will love it, true people pleaser. Very similar to Terre D'Hermes but not as citrusy and spicy, the whole vibe and idea is what makes them a like, try both and decide which one you like more because i feel like owning both makes one of them a bit redundant in my opinion.

Detman101

Found the formula for this and whipped up a bottle of it, with less citrus, more wood and better performance.
Layers perfectly with a marshmallow-vanilla as well!
WOOT!!
I forgot how smooth and relaxed this fragrance is...I'll enjoy wearing it to work tomorrow.

Lizabs68

Fantastic fragrance, perform like a beast on my skin. 10/10

The opening is the best part of this scent, you will feel the beauty of the top notes for a few minutes, and the fragrance quickly loses its charm and you will hardly smell it. I'm disappointed.

I used this beautiful edt’s 100 ml of late 2022 and 2/2023 batch. They were both fine. But then I bought 8/2023 batch of a 150ml and it smells significantly different. I wonder if they changed the formula. I will not buy again, sorry.

sjfb

To me, the scent dry-down of this on the card does smell like a generic men’s perfume, but a very smoothly blended and well executed one. Wish they’d bring back the 2005 formula.

Davey0110

A very woody, clean smell, and I like it. I guess it was my first signature scent last fall. This is one of the first colognes I got, and I used to think it had a similar and preferable scent to the BDC EDP decant I got, but now I think Dior Homme has a much sharper scent, and I would take BDC over this. I think it’s very versatile in what time of day or season it could be worn, an easy reach when you don’t want to think. I get pretty good longevity and projection with this one, and got a large amount of compliments. I also had a younger coworker say it smelled like his dad’s cheap cologne, but he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. It’s probably a good sign that this one leans towards the more mature crowd compared to something like Y or Eros.

Addicteur

Smells amazing but you can only pick it up for about 30 minutes, after that you can barely pick it out for about 1-2 hours then gone.

After wearing it for 6 months, I love this fragrance. It smells like a million bucks, a youthful Terre D’Hermes, and a much grown up version of a blue fragrance. It reminds me of a mix of TDH, Dior Sauvage, and Bleu de Chanel fused into one. It's generic and basic, but I find myself always reaching for it—it's a no-brainer, easy to wear. Many people love to hate on it, but I prefer it to Dior Sauvage. It feels like a much more grown-up version of Sauvage, so it's not for those “boys” clinging to their youth, this is definitely for “men”.

First of all, please open your mind and don't judge a fragrance by what's not, and judge it by what it is
I've been wearing this perfume once or twice a week since December, I wasn't sure about making a review since I found myself falling in and out of love with it
But today I can say: amazing fragrance, love it
I understand the comparison to Terre d'Hermès, I found myself feeling this as a "youthful" TDH
Amazing musky smell, great for office, don't overspray or you will fall out of love from it very quickly
8 sprays is all you need if you want to smell good for 7-8 counted hours
Great for spring and fall both day and nighttime
On winter you may feel it too fresh and during summer you may feel it cloying, (in case you want to use something from the same DH line) I'd go for DHI for Winter and DH Sport 2021 for summer.
Won't pay full retail price for it but if you can find it in about 90 USD for 100ml as I did on Amazon, that would be a great buy
My wife loves it, my little sister loves it, and so do I

Panorama

Let's set aside the discourse surrounding the rebranding and focus on the heart of the matter – the fragrance itself. Dior Homme 2020 deserves to be evaluated on its olfactory merits rather than being overshadowed by marketing changes.

This scent isn't aiming to be a bold artistic statement; rather, it seeks to simply smell exceptionally good and appeal to a wide audience. And in that regard, it excels. The abundance of compliments it garners speaks volumes, lasting impressively throughout the day and making it a reliable choice for any occasion.

What truly distinguishes Dior Homme 2020 is its versatility. Whether it's summer or winter, day or night, it effortlessly adapts, making it a dependable option for any scenario. Despite its accessibility, it maintains an air of sophistication and classiness, reminiscent of a well-groomed gentleman.

While it may deviate from the original Dior Homme, let's appreciate this new interpretation for what it is – a contemporary masterpiece in its own right.

In conclusion, Dior Homme 2020 is a fragrance that demands attention. It's a compliment magnet, a longevity champion, and a versatile companion for any occasion. Judge it on its own merits, and you'll find it to be a delightful addition to your fragrance collection.

dionnn

As stated below,

It is fresh and natural smelling. It opens with bergamot and citrus and quickly dries down to a savory woodsy musk. Seriously, its savory. I want to go where its going. Skin scent leans far into the realm of Iso E Super.

Some people will call this a "fall fragrance" but I find it to work phenomenally in the summer, ESPECIALLY in the evenings. Its romantic. Sexy, even.

Works great as a signature scent. Perfect if you are a 'warm' or sophisticated dude.

Projection simmers to an intimate around the 2 hour mark. I am not one for resprays but even if I'm just nose blind a quick respray is justified.

All considered 8.5/10

Doffstein

For me, the Iso-E is way too dominant. Not a bad scent though but on my skin it develops linear and the Iso stays dominant.

Karthick6

Smells like citrus yellow clay playdoe but not in a bad way

mordrod

Modern. Versatile. Gentlemanly. High quality. If you need a signature scent, or something versatile, this is it. It is classy, high quality scent.

Nothing to do with DH Original, but that doesn't matter at all. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Longevity and silage are alright/moderate. You cannot really expect better performance from a fresh and also-natural smelling fragrance.

From the notes, I am getting woods, vetiver, bergamot, musk, and also juniper, which is not listed, but it gives it a very prominent gin and tonic smell.

Overall, I would say this is a great fragrance for what it is, and I am not saying tat is is just okay. It is a GREAT fragrance, I can just see why it is not appealing to niche snobs, that is all.

If you are 25+ y/o, I guess you can blind buy this if necessary, and if you are not a snob with 200 frags that would only be wowd by a barnyard poop smelling niche oud for 1000 USD. If not, better test it first, as it is a middle aged scent, sort of.

accursednholy

@BigFatBlunts
Yes, with this fragrance less is more. The more you spray, the faster you go noseblind. IF, for some reason, you want to overspray this, keep it away from your face.

BigFatBlunts

Lasts 8-12+ hours on me with 2 sprays, people saying this has poor performance are a bunch of over spraying weirdos.

For info, I'm a 23yo teacher/student. I don't care that much about impressing women, as I have a loving girlfriend, and everyone says my presence is felt enough when I enter a room, therefore I do not care that much about impressing men either. I'm mostly in a class setting, whether as a student, or a teacher, and while my colleagues seem to love how Ultra Male smells and fills up the room, I'm just not comfortable wearing that beast in public transportation/class. If i'm not in a class or at home, i'm at the GYM. What I wanted was something cozy, masculine but sensual, something i could wear everywhere, everyday, something that I don't recognize everywhere.

For starters, I am not fit for DHI, it simply isn't versatile, and I HATE the nauseating iris smell, which is why I'm grateful for DH2020. It gave me all I wanted, cozy, masculine and sensual, versatile, subtle. I knew this was going to be my signature fragrance. Now, my bottle is from a mid 2023 batch, and the smell is %95-100 the same to the 2021 batch that I sampled EXCEPT for the opening. Opening is, well, let's just say a bit crowded, ONLY for the first minute though.

Probably from the ISO E SUPER, I go noseblind to this pretty much instantly if i spray it on my neck. Even my wrists make me go noseblind in an hour (not because it's that strong, but if I spray it on my wrists I can't stop putting my nose over my wrists lol) and that is kind of upsetting, but it may also be from my "I WILL MAKE MY OWN FRAGRANCE" journey, which kinda messed my nose a bit as I used strong essential oils and kept smelling them every 2 minutes, I may be just needing to rest my nose a bit. I know this thing still performs as I keep asking people around me if they can, and after 5-6 hours they can still smell it 1 meter away from me. I have never met someone who said "this smells bad".

People who hate this fragrance because it smells NOTHING like the original Dior Homme, they are right, it smells like a completely different fragrance. However, I think they are being childish, they can still just go and buy the intense, THE ORIGINAL, or the parfum version.

The only issue I have with it is the cap, IT IS TOO LOOSE, it simply doesn't fit. But it's no biggie for me.

I was also lucky enough to find 150ml of this for 90USD, and I intend to buy at least one more bottle of it.

80Days

I want this to be my signature scent, but longevity and intensity make that impossible. Wonderful fragrance for me, though. I think it's politely masculine and properly...rugged. But short life span.

Jelliott

@themicruler
Thanks for the info and good to hear it’s a very subtle reformulation! Been wearing it every day now for a week and although it seems to have disappeared within a couple of hours to me, I’m still getting people say they can smell it at 6pm after applying at 8am so longevity of this formula doesn’t have any issues with lasting power. Great scent and quickly becoming a signature..!

TheMicRuler

@Jelliot
I have a launch edition and a bottle from late 2023. They're indeed slightly different.

The main difference is that in the older version the elemi and pink pepper were more prominent in the opening, while in the newer version the cedar is there right off the rip.

Performance has improved (couple extra hours of longevity, from 6 to 8 for me), and I think what they did was bring it more in line with the 2021 sport flanker.

IMO, it was a reformulation for the better. It's not so different as to be unrecognizable (it's a 5 - 10% delta) and the performance is improved.

David Torres

Elegante , sofisticada , madura , muy masculina aveces menos es más , lo mejor que he olido en años !!

ZiggySmellsGood

I slept on this because I thought it would tarnish the line but Dior came out with DHO and DHI remained pretty much the same . This is more mass appealing and more wearable than the older version . I miss having Dior Eau in my rotation so this takes the place of that being that it was a sharp, woody fragrance . With All that being said, this is a beautiful fragrance on its own . It is bright while being a woody fragrance that has a nice clean musk . It is signature scent worthy . I wear this to the office mostly because it is unique and sophisticated imo . The strong Iris note isn’t for everyone, some find it to be a bit feminine and that’s why we ended up with this . I’m glad I finally added this to my collection after all these years although I’m a huge fan of the original but a gem is a gem .

Jelliott

But anyway as a review I’m really liking the scent, yes it’s different to the old Dior Homme (original) but this certainly feels more like a ‘mans’ fragrance than the previous generation did. Bought a 150ml to make it an everyday wear and on initial impressions seems like this will fit the bill nicely. Almost get a bit of a very light toned down Gucci Pour Homme 1 vibe about it which is no bad thing! Just haven’t been able to test longevity yet.

Jelliott

@Rc1988, I purchased it from Boots so definitely a genuine item. The 3K01 batch code is fine as have lots of Dior’s and these just give the date of when it was made. It’s the perfume formula code that is written at the end of the ingredients list that has changed. Appears that bottles from launch until last year had 13837/A but this has now changed to 18417 so has changed formula. That’s pretty much always been the case with Dior products and when there’s been some form of reformulation this code has changed. Just that’s this is my first bottle of Homme 2020 so not sure how much or what they have changed!

Rc1988

@Jelliott Dior has been printing their batch codes like that for quite sometime.

Where did your purchase your bottle?

Jelliott

Thinking this may of already had a reformulation as just picked up my first 150ml bottle today. The formula code on the box at the bottom right is 18417 but looking online at a most of the bottles for sale on eBay etc the formula code is 13837/A. Mine is batch code 3K01 so from 2023 but perhaps they reformulated it last year as the formula codes on Dior do tend to change when there’s a change to the fragrance in some way. Anyone else had any experience of the scent changing at all last year?

Andrei_D

I think there's definitely too much crying over the big change in formulation. Remember, you can still get the original.

With that out of the way I can tell you that this is an amazing scent. It smells like modern masculinity in a bottle. I can't even pinpoint why it's so good, but it just is. It might not be the most unique, but it's amazingly easy to wear and versatile, while lasting a whole day with great sillage, at least on my skin.

muohio

One of if not best designer scent in my collection, and I have quite a few. The sport version gets more love but this one is superior IMO, though both are good. Living up to the original was a tall task as it’s so unique, though they’ve done it justice and created an infinitely more wearable scent. Love it.

Lihaliemikuutio

Along with DHI, this is one of the best smelling designer fragrances to my nose. Great for everyday use. For some reason this reminds me of bleau de chanel, but its more unique and masculine.

Sttone18

Super high potential as a signature fragrance for anyone. I put this on at 6:45am one morning and was with some friends at about 10:30 and a girl asked me how many sprays of cologne I put on. I said 2 sprays on the neck at 6:45am and she couldn’t believe it. Truly incredible longevity and truly incredible sillage as well. Very easy scent for EVERYONE to enjoy, including more accustomed noses.

Acquirestone

A lot of the reviews Dior Homme 2020 really leave me confused.

This is one of the best fragrances my nose has ever had the pleasure of smelling. It is by no means simple, though i would definitely say that it is inoffensive. It's not challenging like a lot of niche fragrances are for example, but still smells sophisticated and more interesting than your run of the mill blue fragrance.

It's very versitile and works for basically any scenario. Just a magical blend that somehow manages to be fun, while staying classy, to be sweet, while retaining the right amount of freshness not to feel heavy, to be mass pleasing, but still feel original. I truly love it.

The smell reminds me of a hot cup of chamomile tea with honey and the dried orange slices we always hang on our christmass tree. The opening is citrusy, but quickly dries down to reveal the beautiful sweet, woodsy, peppery aroma that makes this fragrance so amazing. There's just something about it. You have to try it on skin to understand.

I get about 6 hours of preformance. 2 hours of projection, 4 of it being smellable on you and after that it becomes very hard to notice. For an EDT, it's about what you'd expect.

When I first sprayed this on myself years ago I didn't really like it. Fast forward a year later, I was traveling through Europe and found Dior Homme Intense in the Copenhagen airport and liked it so much that I picked up a bottle on my way home. It came with a mini bottle of Dior Homme Sport 2021. I started putting it to use and fell in love with it — I ended up buying a full bottle. Another year later I smelled Dior Home 2020 and was surprised by how similar it smelled to DHS minus a bunch of citrus and with a little more wood. I started testing it out and it quickly became one of my favorites. You can pull it off any time of the year and any day. It is a great fragrance for dressing up as it smells super classy or you can wear it out casually and it smells amazing. There have been so many people who have commented on how good it smells. My friend liked it so much that he decided that he couldn't miss out on such a banger. I honestly can't understand how I wasn't a fan of it at first so with that I couldn't recommend it as a blind buy but I damn near could!

vintages

If you want to know what DH 2020 smells like:

It is the most serious, masculine and formal fragrance imaginable, positively, without overpowering notes. And it is elegant. Suitable for all men. My girlfriend says it smells great, every time and immediately when she smells it. This is a good sign, because when someone has to think about it first, whether a scent smells great or so so.... it's a thumbs down to me.

What DH 2020 isn't:
Sweetness is the last thing that comes to my mind when I think about DH 2020. But it is not dry either, it's not a freshy and not a barbershop. Citrus? Just a subtle hint in the opening.

There is no vanilla, it's not fruity and there are no floral notes. So what is it?

It's mainly:

- woody notes
- black pepper
- musk
And again, it smells good.

The unresolved mystery is:
Is it another flanker of the original or is it a standalone fragrance that will come up with flankers on its own? The latter would be fantastic.

Great versatile scent, may smell like uncle.

This fragrance is simple, clean, beautiful perfumery. I understand that the low ratings are coming from the fact that the Dior Homme is typically known for their inclusion of the Iris note, hence why it is a polarizing fragrance in the community. But I think that makes absolutely no sense to let that effect your review of the fragrance objectively. This is just beautiful. The opening is a bit offputting, but within 5 minutes, you start to get the incredible drydown. It is a very clean woody backbone, with a faint naturalistic sweetness from the Bergamot and Elemi Resin, and an inoffensive peppery essence to provide a masculine touch. I think it’s a very similar fragrance to Bleu De Chanel in that they serve the same purpose of occasions they can be used for, and in my experience, I reach for this one every single time over BDC. This would be exceptional for everyday wear: office, lounging around, or running errands. You can definitely even pull this off for a date night if you’d like to play it safe and not offend anyone. It is a great “understatement” fragrance. It’s perfect for when you’d just like to smell good without announcing your presence or annoying others by it. It seemed to last 8+ hours for me with a slight-medium projection. Age range is extremely wide, I would probably say it’s for those who have more of a mature, professional demeanor if anything, but anyone can wear this one.

8/10 for me

jbfragrances22

Forget the reviews that bash this over the removal of the Iris note. The move by Dior to keep this in the homme line is highly debatable, but you’ll have to ignore that to look at this fragrance for what it really is. It’s not beast mode, or the best smelling but it is a better than average everyday fragrance. Only thing holding it back is that it is an EDT. Needs a respray around the ~5-6 hour mark, but smells great while it lasts. You do get some movement off of it for the first hour as well which I like. The definition of a workhorse fragrance, it can do everything, any season, any occasion. Would be nice if Dior releases an EDP in the future.

PistolPete

Perfect daily scent for me. Kinda low key, fresh and inoffensive. Worth the price in my opinion, but i wouldn’t blind buy unless you love woody fragrances.

RogueZXRO

I love this so much! I'm starting to enjoy these softer scents more due to their versatility.

AnabolicDorito

LGB!LGB!

This is miles better and apart from than the previous feminine iris dominant, grandma's make-up bag juice. ISO E is dominant on the opening, but it shines all the way through. Definitely for a man. Cedar, pepper, and wood stand out. The base notes are mostly cedar, vetiver and musk. A masterpiece imo.

Silage and projection are average. Four sprays will do the trick. Two to three in an office setting.

PerfumeMadHatter

Classy and sophisticated, it is a modern-day masterpiece. This smells like a well put together man. Versatile and a dumb reach in every situation and season. Can't recommend it enough.

talkaboutscents

If a friend who is not into fragrances would have asked me for a daily, versatile men's scent, this is the first one I'd suggest and Dior Homme Sport as a close second. If versatility all-year-round, all-occasions and class had a medium, this would be it. It's deceptively simple yet complex in details which only comes up in time with some use. It is clearly derived from Dior Homme Sport, and more fitting to Dior Homme line overall. The original Dior Homme was a groundbreaker, but it was sticking out like the odd one of the family due to Dior's choice for a completely different DNA later on with Homme Sport and Cologne. This kind of corrects that misalignment perfectly. The trendy top notes of the last one or two decades pink pepper and elemi, meeting the classic bergamot/dihydromyrcenol over a hard to dislike layer of clean vetiver, patchouli and abstract musk-woods of Iso E Super and Cashmeran. I get styrax, some aldehydes and resinous signature touches, but that could be my nose playing tricks.

Smellybutgood

Modern Masculinity in a bottle.

If you followed the release and the initial reactions, you might have noticed the mixed feelings in the fragrance community. However, when you look at Dior Homme 2020 without the biases tied to its name and bottle, there's truly a lot to appreciate.

In my opinion, Dior Homme 2020 stands out as a noteworthy release that will likely define this decade's designer-level fragrances. It's reminiscent of how Terre d’Hermes wasn't initially praised but is now considered one of the best modern men’s releases.

The bergamot note, akin to Sauvage but distinct from scents like Montblanc Explorer, sets the tone. The pepper accord adds sharpness and airiness during the opening, introducing a touch of coldness before the woody and ambery heart takes center stage.

The middle stage is where Dior Homme 2020 truly shines, and as it reaches the dry down, soft traces of cedar and white musk, reminiscent of Dior Homme Cologne, linger.

Versatility was a key focus in its creation, and it exceeds expectations. Suitable for any occasion, this fragrance is a future classic.

Embrace the change and you'll realize how brilliant DH2020 truly is.

valeri0706

@Jcellier

This isn't a flanker of the DH line, but rather a reimagining, or a "reboot" of the line. There is a reason this one is now the front fragrance of the Homme line, while the previous ones have been rebranded as DH Original.

If anything, this has the potential to spawn its own set of flankers.

Jcellier

This would be more loved if it did not have the Dior Homme name. It should have been a new line instead of a flanker.

Afc_Croatian

When Dior used Robert Pattinson as the face of this fragrance, I knew this was gonna be a hit.
If you are a fan of Dior like me, you know they tend to make some timeless or popular fragrances. And I don't know about the original Dior Homme being worth hundreds on Ebay, but this one seems to shine enough to be worthy in your collection.

At first, the notes seem generic: bergamot, cedar, vetiver. And to be honest, these are notes that make the scent smell similar to other hits. I saw a review saying it smells like a mix of BDC, Sauvage & Terre D'Hermes and I totally see it.
But in these instances, where a fragrance shows it true value is how smooth it is.

Dior Homme opens up with a smooth bergamot, immediately followed by that cedar we all know and love. Nothing seems in-your-face about it, and it stays smooth until the end.
When the vetiver comes out is where it reminds me of Terre D'Hermes minus the orange note. That absence of citrus keeps Dior smelling sophisticated, like a true date night scent, musky and clean. It's a scent that I would love every retail store to smell like.

Dior Homme is a popular fragrance that deserves being so, in a sea of Sauvage, YSL Y, & BDC, let this one be your standout.

Lasted all morning on me at the office, less is more with this one as you may go nose-blind to it with too many sprays.

Aussiecollector

I have ALOT of fragrances. I keep a handful of season appropriate ones in easy reach which I rotate. The one that never gets rotated and gets used over and over is this gem. I am addicted to the wood peppery smell and catch wafts throughout the day reminding me it has real longevity. I hope they make flankers of this and it stays in the lineup for a decade. Masterpiece!

tukangciumparfum

This is a very office safe fragrance, it doesn't stick out at all and it smells like a woody musky expensive uplifting kind of fragrance. If you want to stand out from the crowd then wear a megamare or T-REX not this.

AngelovD

This is just so damn good and it just works. This is very masculine smelling but not like your typical blue fragrance. It's woody, it's musky and it is very airy. Very potent and really long lasting. Great for each season due to the fact that this fragrance adapts itself according to the temperature which is amazing. Also, I rarely receive compliments for my fragrance but this one, this has probably given me more than any other fragrance in my collection, as I said, it just works. Don't be fooled by the nonsense rant about missing the iris, yes, there is no iris, is it good? incredibly good! go for it!

Tobiashenriksen

Very good

MSKMAN

Dior Homme 2020 is worthy of being a signature scent and has many great qualities that distinguish it from the competition. The fragrance opening is a modern classic! The opening is blended masterfully; not one note is clearly defined but works harmoniously. Although everything is beautifully blended, what clearly is notable during the opening and mid stages is the Cashmere Wood and ISO E. As the fragrance dries down the vetiver is sometimes detectable. To reiterate all parts of this fragrance are cohesive, and no notes or ingredients feel out of place. Performance, in my opinion, is good, but I can easily see going nose blind to this scent unless you are sensitive to fragrance. Overall, it's a love for me, and I think this scent should be more significant in popularity based on how good it is.

junkioberyoloman

This is a woody, versatile masterpiece of a fragrance. A bright fresh opening with pepper and citrusses and a woody base with lots of Iso-E Super.
I know it may sound boring just because of how simple and overdone that combination might seem, but if its done to perfection with typical Dior elegance while having good performance its just a great release.
Got complimented on this about 8h after applaying.
In my opinion it serves the same purpose as some „blue“ fragrances without being an Ambroxan-Bomb, which makes it quite the classy scent.
This is probably my most worn fragrance and I just might pick up a backup bottle.
Needless to say my girlfriend loves it and it might just be my most complimented fragrance.
Atomizer is great in typical dior fashion.

The only “Dior Sauvage” and generic blue fragrance that I want to buy. Smells like a mature “blue” fragrance, without being a blue fragrance, funny right? In my nose it’s a mix of 20% Dior Sauvage, 30% Bleu De Chanel and 50% Terre D’ Hermes. It has a blue DNA but at the same time it has that vibe that can be related to Terre D’ Hermes.

SammyyyZEEEEEEE

Typical designer “blue” musky man, cologne guy smell.

This DNA is in almost any “male” designer fragrance, I’ve smelled this in Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel, Narciso Rodriguez stuff and on and on.

Citrus, pink pepper and cedar with musk.

OAKESKINEN

Just overpriced. I like the scent. 8/10

I prefer this over Sauvage .....

Even though I like fragrances such as One million royal, Stronger with you, Azzaro Most wanted, Le Mâle Elixir, Paco R. Victory or Phantom, Code absolu, JP Gaultier Scandal, etc., i am starting to get tired of these sweet smells.

Dior homme (2020) is fortunately not in this category. It's a citrusy and slightly earthy scent. It's masculine. Gives confidence.

This fragrance makes me feel like it smells like men's eau de toilette from the 80s, but in a modern way, not out of date.

The performance is good.

I am a member of management at a large secondary school. I wear shirts, jackets, etc. Consequently, Dior homme (2020) corresponds perfectly to my professional lifestyle.

Finally, as a bonus, i received compliments by women with this eau de toilette.

Kevin11

At first, I couldn't stand the change in Dior Homme, missing the Iris note. Ventured to buy a full bottle, and to my surprise, it's now my go-to scent. It might not match the original's greatness, but Dior kept the elegance intact. Hoping they stick to this DNA instead of more confusing changes.

Inbjorn

Just like Sauvage this received a lot of hate upon release, but is now considered one of the best versatile designer releases the past years. The citrus opening dwells for some time, before the vetivernotes comes to play. In the end it settles more woody. Very much non-linear and interesting. Can not see any occasions where this fragrance does not fit in apart from blazing summerheat.

lumberjack

When I wear it, I literally feel chic.
Or I could simply describe it as "An incredibly elegant gentleman sipping expensive whiskey at a very elite gathering..”
I'm happy I bought it as a New Year's gift for myself..

lucas005

I love this, I initially tested this on my skin thinking it was intense version with the iris notes and what not, but I later found out it was the 2020 version. I believe this is the only version of the fragrance I have tested but nonetheless it is great. It has a nostalgic yet modern vibe to it, and it is a cozy scent. Despite the fact that I haven't smelled other formulations of DH, I really don't see how this twist/reformulation seemingly isn't as popular as the others or doesn't have its own following, but so be it. This is classy and unique and seamlessly fits into any collection.

Kimoland

Fabulous smell, masculine and versatile perfume can depend on it for any occasion 365 days,i bought 150 ml for spraying freely many times per day,i wish if same Homme 2020 without iris but EPD for more longtivity and sillage

robertwembridge

This used to remind me of a memory when I was about 7 years old I was in a hot sauna with herbal scents infusing within the hot room, the environment of the sauna was rough imperfect stone walls, walking out after 20 minutes breathes the cold fresh air of Phuket, Thailand on a rainy afternoon. Dipping straight into a cold tub and washing out the impurities away. This bottle encapsulates so many memories for me, and I will never give it up. It smells of nostalgia. It is literally a masterpiece.

1uckynumb3r

It is not a masterpiece, but it is sufficiently different and at the same time versatile. The smell is very pleasant. Also, I have identified elements found in other perfumes. Those who like Terre d'Hermes will also like Dior Homme 2020. Why? It is 50% Terre D'hermes + 30% Dior Homme Sport 2017 + 10-15% Light Blue Forever/Hermes Eau Givree and 5-10% Dior Homme Original/2011 (in the far drydown).
Having iso e super in the composition, the performance and/or the perception can be deceiving. I have noticed wiffs more than 6 hours after spraying on the skin and much more on the clothes.
On a scale from 1 to 10 i'll give a 8.5

Advantageous01

Generic “cologne guy” woody scent without much depth. Sure it’s mass appealing, but there are better options.

There is a stale, bread-like dimension in it that ruined it for me. Not sure how better to describe it.

Soultrap

Whoever trash this perfume has no nose. One of the best mass appealing masculine fragrances of the decade period! You can tell that it's a blue fragrance because it's extremely versatile and fits any season, any occasion. I have got so many unsolicited compliments from strangers. It's fresh, woody, perfectly blended. Longevity, projection and sillage are decent. Right after you wear it, your mood gets better instantly!

My score: 9/10

KJV

I love testing hated perfumes. Ordered a decant and after only 2 wearings I ordered the big bottle. It's that good.
Plus it's been a long while since my picky wife liked a perfume that I also liked. Great work Dior.

I don't know why all the hate though? It's a good thing that it's different then its predecessor. After all, if you're into that powdery headache-inducing smell of that old Homme, just get the Valentino version of that same DNA, it's much better anyways.

The only remark I have is the performance, which is not good. I need to put like 10-12 sprays and even then I can't smell it 3 hours later. But, for THAT price it's good value. It's a compliment puller for sure, very easy to get used to. And it's an allrounder, day night heat cold rainy or sunny, it always fits.

Scutchy05

Love it , way ahead of the original. Niche quality. Great value for money.

liquidlase

Love the reformulation more than the original. Once I get over the synthetic notes that at least mask the alcohol and develop into a pleasant top, this fragrance blooms into a cedar dominant opulent fragrance that feels like a comforting hug. I received a compliment within 2 hours of my first spray on the bottle. Thats on par with or better results than Layton in complements.

Love the cedar and musks that last in this and I did not want the lipstick like waxy scent of the iris in this which would have ruined it for me. I bought this for the beautifully crafted cedar bouquet and not disappointed. Prefer this to Homme sport, sauvage and others in this line after receiving a test sample that sold me on this.

FaizalPermana666

I remember when I blind buy DH2020 and do some notes research in here, I've seen someone in the comments says : "Someday people will appreciate this fragrance"
Yep, he was right🥹👍🏻

I think that was François Demachy in his second account.

Takamojo

I've been wearing this casually and I must say I feel a bit under dressed. This is a formal, suit and tie 🤵🏿 🥃🍸🥂🍷 type of scent. The pepper and vetiver notes stand out and the Iso E Super really helps this project. Sillage, is strong for about 2 hours but the scent will last you at least 10+ hours.
If you're a classic guy that enjoys attention, this is your scent.

The 2020 formula feels sophisticated and understands its identity. Personally, I enjoy the older version more because of the ever-so-slight sweetness from the iris. But they are two TOTALLY different scents.

I'll definitely wear this more often to formal events.

The 150ml (5 oz.) Is probably your best bet for fair pricing if you know you're going to wear it often. If you're on a budget and want to get close to this profile, I suggest Versace L'Homme ($20 - $30)

The more I wear this the better it gets. At first it smelled kind of generic, but I've grown to really appreciate it. Not a lot of people mention this, but it has the Sauvage backbone deep in this scent. This is professional smelling, would work great as an office scent.

VicGuzman89

So underrated! Manly fresh. Grown but not dated. Not unique yet it stands out in its category. This would've been a masterpiece if it wasn't for the fragrance snobs on YouTube.

Mr Moustache

Gentleman scent for all seasons except cold weather. Very safe, mass appealing for the 30’s and above.
Perfect for Office and Formal occasions.

What a workhorse. I keep coming back to this one. Simple but not basic.

Tahsinss

@vxxxxx1552 This also was my first fragrance I got with my own money, I bought it because my girlfriend was absolutely in love the first time she smelt it in the store. I had the same thought as you, I thought the performance on new batches sucked but it just turned out that my nose became blind to it. Everyone could smell this fragrance on me, except for me. I’d apply the fragrance on my wrist to test and see if I could smell it after a couple hours, and I couldn’t even smell it after 4 but I’d be shocked when people said I smelled good I didn’t smell a damn thing on my wrist. People can definitely smell the masterpiece on you, you probably are nose blind to it and probably also need more fragrances in your rotation.

Funky_Monk1988

Underrated, that's for sure. Very refined, luxurious and long lasting perfume. It kinda makes its own mark, and I always like that in perfumery. Great for everyday use (year round). Signature worthy.

Edit: tried it on my skin, but it doesn't sit well. The misses preferred the Sport version on me, but compared to that one, my money goes to Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée.

SinbadTheSailor

@vxxxxx1552
You have developed odor fatigue with this fragrance; as this is the case with any other frangrance or smell. Your nose has become familiar with this smell and to re-feel it, you need to add more perfumes to your rotation. Try other perfumes for a while, and retry this perfume after a week, it will feel as fresh and strong as you first bought it. While you may not feel the smell, people around you definitely do.

NYCActuary

The opening was a slightly woodsy take on a barbershop type cologne. The woodsy note fatigues on the dry down and becomes more powdery and the iris takes over while still remaining masculine.

Super office friendly. Very inoffensive and pleasant smelling. Can use all seasons, but I think spring/fall better suits it.

mirzamajmun

@TheMicRuler i also noticed the same thing. I bought one month ago which is produced in march or april and i can tell that there is difference to my previous bottle. Not big difference but i still like both formulations.

TheMicRuler

Has this been reformulated?

I purchased a first batch bottle (produced July 2019) from Macy's that came with the pressurized atomizer. I finished that bottle in June of 2023, and the elemi / pink pepper were quite prominent.

I just got in another bottle, produced in February of 2023 and it doesn't come with the pressurized atomizer. It's got the same atomizer as dior homme sport (2021), which works fine, but the scent is subtly different. The pink pepper and elemi are not as prominent, with the cedar being more in the forefront. It's still the same scent, but it definitely smells reformulated.

On the upside, performance is significantly better. With my first bottle I was only getting around 5 hours of longevity; this new one lasts a solid 8 - 10 hours.

I don't believe the difference is maturation of the juice, as I noticed the strong pink pepper / elemi combo in the first bottle right from the first spray.

Has anyone else experienced these differences?

kellenf123

Woody, fresh, with a nice bergamot top note. I personally am not the biggest fan of Sauvage EDP because I find it is too peppery, but I found that this is a great alternative. While it isn't really similar to Sauvage EDP, I find that the woodiness from the middle notes combined with the fresh opening makes it better IMO. Very versatile scent; can wear this year round, day or night. 6-8 hours of longevity with moderate projection. I have never tried any of the other Dior Homme fragrances, and I find this to be great, so I suspect that Homme 2020 gets hate because of the lack of iris. I tried a sample of this, and while I am not in the market for a year-round signature, I would buy this 110% if I stumbled across a deal on it.

Ali yakar

Moder, masculine, eau toilette, long-lasting fragrance suitable for all seasons. Woody, warm and slightly sweet.

Fragriminator

This is my second review of Homme 2020. My first was around six months ago after having worn it for only a few days. I'm not very knowledgeable about fragrances, but I do own around 50 and consider sampling fragrances the most exciting activity in the universe, and possibly in all of space-time itself. There is truly nothing quite like Homme 2020. I'm puzzled by this fragrance because out of every one I've ever sampled on my skin, none smell and behave like this one. The puzzling part is that it's designer, and most designer fragrances I've smelled and sampled have a couple of cousins who share genetics. Again, I'm not very well-versed in fragrances, but I can't really compare this to anything I've come across. Someone in a comment below said it smells like artificial intelligence created this, and I get the sentiment. It's like Demachy typed to the ai "create a formulation that smells great to many people while also smelling like nothing else." Dior somehow found a secret vacant niche in the mass-appealing fragrance space. I'm writing this second review today because this morning I noticed I've drained this bottle faster than any of my others, so I must be zombie-reaching for it more frequently than I realize. Peace 2 u all.

Felixthreeone

This is outstanding. A nice change of direction to the line that adds some versatility. It is a departure, for sure, from the iris-laden predecessors. But I smelled it in-store, liked it. Got a small decant. wore it and fell in love with it. There is a lot of versatility here, and a fragrance that gets noticed in a very positive way. Quality perfumery from Dior, as one would expect. Yes, it is different, but if you already have the Parfum and DHI, this adds a different angle. I really enjoy it. Just my opinion, of course.

Scutchy05

Way better than the original, a beautiful modern fragrance with that Dior quality. Excellent.

autumnrequiem

I believe this was extremely under appreciated upon release. The original is still timeless and unique and will always be special but this actually isn’t so bad as people made it out to be three years ago.

It’s versatile, it’s woody, it’s good enough for daily wear and beats dozens of other generic caramel sweet designer fragrances that copy each other. Fantastic.

Manu99

Dior Homme 2020 was one of the first few fragrances I smelled when I began to get into fragrances and it is still one of my favorites of all time. Most complimented. Different. I’ve smelled cheap fragrances, designer and niche…. This remains in my top 5…. versatile through and through. Amazing. If I had to keep only 10 fragrances in my collection forever this is in there. Excellence in a bottle. My first recommendation to anyone who wants to buy/gift a fragrance. You can’t go wrong.

ean10775

Initially I didn’t like this. I found it to be too linear and too plain. It reminded me a bit of the woody dry down of perhaps BDC or other blue fragrances. After several wearings I’m now appreciating its versatility and elegance and I think it is more than just a dumb reach. It smells well crafted, warm and rounded. It lasts on my skin for 8+ hours. That said, ultimately I’ve decided its just not for me, but I see how this could become’s someone’s signature scent.

mechglow

This may not be as adventurous as the rest of the line, but you can't deny that it is excellent perfumery. Dior doubled down on the fundamentals and created something timeless. Also, people say that this doesn't have any iris, but I definitely detect a sort of a purple velvety scent. Must be either iris or violet, it is very subtle and works perfectly with the rest of the notes.

Frags&Fits

The "man" in 2020 needed to be revamped. This 2020 says "Homme" to me more than the original did. Dior decided to go simple, straight to the point, just like a man. Giving you the essence of what most masculine scents are. Woody, citrusy, fresh, and musky. "Watch us do simple man better than anyone, because you know what we do if we want to get crazy complex."

Its genius if you ask me. It literally smells like a man, and that's it. Giving the market something extremely useful in a market thats over saturated with sweet, powdery, blue, aquatic, and marine. It's the simple generic classic, we didn't know we needed. Ahead of its time ironically.

ehazen

I’m not a fan of the opening but after 15 minutes this becomes one top 3 favorites.

Salohcin2148

Back on this page again. Got chased down to be given a compliment the other day at work, 3rd of the day. The women I was complimented by isn't interested in the opposite sex but was VERY EXCITED to tell me how good I smelled. This was at 6pm when I applied at 6am. I have fragrances that cost upwards of $400 for 50ml and have never gotten the reactions I have when I wear this. This is an equal opportunity compliment beast.

LocalFraghead

Elegant, modern and unique all purporse all year fragrance! I was searching for an everyday fragrance that i was going to reach most of the times but i was bored by the blue fragrances because they are too common nowadays, you smell everywhere fragrances like sauvage, dylan blue etc. Don't get me wrong they are really nice but they have become overused in my opinion. Then you have a fragrance like this that flies under the radar because it doesn't get the same hype as the other fragrances that it smells luxurious and modern and you don't smell it often or at all! Having as a dumb reach a fragrance like this is phenomenal because is unique and is perfect for most occasions! Signature scent worthy juice,i am really happy blind buying this!

pusha65

still great without the iris. Very versatile imo, works all year round in any occasion.
Nice fresh, woody and earthy scent

Got myself a new bottle after selling my partial last year. I did like it at the time but not enough.

Recently I tried the Dior Homme Sport 2021 and fell in love with it. I had the 2017 but didn't love it enough and sold that partial too however, the 2021 I absolutely love. This prompted me to try this again, so I did a couple of times and now 2 weeks later I got a full bottle. Last weekend was a sale weekend in New Zealand so I got this and Givenchy Society for 30% plus used a $50 voucher. A very good deal.

So, now I have a bottle again and have waited a week before I post my review. This is very nice, although I much prefer the Sport version this is great too. I don't think it is redundant owning both because although they are similar they are both versatile in different ways. This I will wear in the office more and when I'm out on the road for work Sport is what I'd reach for.

This is more subtle and more of a chill, office clean and fresh vibe whereas Sport has an edge to it. I really do love them both, since discovering how much I love the sport Dior has proved again they can keep on top of their game. They are my favorite designer house.

Now for Homme, the breakdown:
The opening is great, juicy and slightly peppery going from here to the midst and finally the drydown is delicious all round. It is semi linear but still develops enough to round itself off. This is inoffensive, versatile and has good performance. It is not loud but forms a nice bubble and sillage to suit.

Opening 9/10
Mids & Drydown 9/10
Longevity 8/10
Scent 9/10
Versatility 9.5/10
Price 8/10

Total 8.75/10

Final verdict, I wouldn't pay retail for it but if you csn get it cheaper it's worth a sniff to test it. This can fit amongst any collection and is a great all rounder dumb reach. Bravo!

Dolce Gabbana Enthusiast

Rip the og Dior Homme edt, but this new formulation is good asf. Its a nice woody musky sweet scent, imagine Woody marshmallows.
9/10

AquaRegia

Homme 2020 is a reformulated edition of the previously violet-heavy Dior Homme EDT, but it ditches the original lipstick note. Instead, it offers a fresh twist, opening with bergamot and pink pepper before evolving into an infusion of cashmere wood, Haitian vetiver, and white musk. Dior Homme is a scent that can truly become your signature fragrance, suitable for all occasions, months, and weather conditions. It embodies the masculine sensuality of a successful man, exuding luxury and opulence without the overly powdery complexity of its predecessor.

With moderate longevity and sillage, Dior Homme comes with a slightly higher price tag, in line with the designer house's reputation. It falls between the lighter Cologne and Sport versions and the denser Intense and Parfum versions. If you're building a collection of Dior fragrances, it's a worthy addition alongside other Hommes and Sauvages. However, if you must choose just one Dior Homme, opt for the Intense version, which offers a significantly more leathery iris appeal.

Leon1

Great scent, i got it as a blind buy and i dont regret it. When i first smelt it i was reminded of a lavender plant, even though its not a note, but after a week or so i get lovely woody-floral notes.
In my opinion, it could be worn by females too but it is leaning towards masculine, this is because of the floral notes.
It does remind me of the scent of lipstick too.
8/10, not a 10 because it just doesnt last that long on my skin and it doesnt project too much, which is good for office environments but i like to have a nice scent trail.

Diavolu

smells like sweat to me :(

sgd11

Very good second skin type of scent. Woody, sensual and masculine to the core. Great for every day and every occasion with that Dior signature quality. My only complaint is the performance. I do wish this was made as an EDP rather than an EDT. I don’t get amazing projection or longevity out of this unfortunately albeit, it’s good enough. It is possible that I’m going nose blind but who knows.

frag7700

@valeri0706 Calm down dude. The comment was already filled out in the comment box for some reason, so I hit submit. My point was obvious. Go spray you favorite fragrance MYSLF.

Frags&Fits

This is a straight to the point, you know exactly what I am type of fragrance. Its fresh, citrusy, woody, and masculine. Thats about it though. Generic, but understandale with what Dior is trying to achieve with this. This is for the North American market, who complain about feminine colognes and lipsticky iris. Got what you asked for. If you want depth and more character, the sport is more unique, or go with BDC EDP.

Kizo

This is an undoubtedly masculine scent. Its just as masculine as aventus, or acqua di gio profumo. That is because it is very dry and devoid if any sweetness.

I was instantly reminded of Heritage by Guerlain probably because of the cedar and patchouli. It is a classic scent and will forever be timeless.

However it is not a must have in someone’s collection. You can achieve the same aesthetic with better and cheaper colognes.

Performance is good. Sillage is great and is the strong point of this fragrance. The sillage smells wonderful. Considering the price ($100 cdn), i think it is a good value because I can smell high quality molecules.

This is a very good signature scent because it suitable for all seasons and occasions.

I would recommend it unless you already own aventus, Profumo, heritage, sauvage, terre d’hermes, any vetiver scent, or similar fragrance, as it would be redundant in terms of use in your collection.

Get this if you are more mature and prefer woody fragrances.

[email protected]

I have no issues with Dior going in this direction from a creative/business perspective, you need to make fragrance that sells and as much I can appreciate the the artistry and quality perfumery that went into the original homme, intense, parfum etc. It isn't really appealing to the general public and the retail market where the money is made.

Dior Homme 2020 is a versatile, easy to wear, woody/fresh/spicy fragrance that is well blended, good performance and fits the category of a "go to all purpose scent" given time most of us will warm up to this scent and appreciate it for what it is.

Tonifigz15

Despite the hate, this is actually a pretty well done fragrance. If you like woody scents this is a must have. Smells fresh,
clean, mature, elegant and gentlemanly. Cedar and musk is what I get most. I'm not very familiar with Iso E Super but I guess it's there adding to the woodiness. Lasts around 6-7 hours but was projecting moderately for a most of the lifespan (around 4 hours).

Definitely veered off a different direction from the original DNA, but overall, it's not bad.

Realest Rater 47

Handsome, likable, charismatic boyfriend personality in this.

JacobMolen

Blind bought and wearing this one for the day and I’m not super impressed. Gonna take some time to absorb this one

Flatoutchad

I got this little after it came out. I was fairly new, well a few years, but my whole outlook has changed immensely to now. I've leaned so many lessons and I'm more tuned into what I like and not what other like. Lot of people just want compliments, and they would wear tree sap if it got them complements. I'm much wiser and realized just how insane how much psychology is behind fragrances. Perfect example is this scent. Awile ago when I got this, people were just puking all over this, obviously cause it took the old formula, and did a pivot and went to this, leaving the iris behind. The votes I think were 3.60 at the time and you never, ever see a scent that low. People were so mad it wasn't a iris charged flanker. It's pretty much a given that anything Dior puts their name on is gonna be good. They take their perfumery department seriously and it's shown, shined in their amazing catalog of masterpieces.

So the psychology kind of made me think it was bad cause my brain out like a stamp, with the scent and I think I prematurely jumped the bandwagon and shelfed it to get dust. And it did just that, almost gave it away several times but my future self must of went back and dropped a subliminal bomb not to get rid of it and I just got it out last week and I absolutely love this now. It's very unique, very different than anything out there. Nothing even close to this profile. I think had someone else released this, it would of been received differently.

But the psychology really is so powerful too. Like when i got my super expensive scents I paid good money for, I stamped my brain with the price tag and the smell and it automatically seemed so much better cause I knew it was expensive. The two frags are Interlude Man and Carlisle by PDM. Then I started getting the super good Lattafa scents that just just bring expensive scents to you for next to nothing. But the smell is so nostalgic, and when you smell it again, even a good clone, it will bring you back. But when you get a cheap scent you kind of give it a "cheap" label even though it's an expensive scent, the original I'm meaning.

So now I actually really dig this scent now I had years ago by and not smell it. Kind of gave it a new spot and by the votes, a lot of others think this same.

rlgon

I tried avoiding this three times because of the hype but i caved in.
It is very good, modern, fresh-dry.
In love.

whiteflowerranger

Actually this is very unique though it can be boring like office for men. But its mass appealing compliment monster

YoungfragX

An amazing fragrance for every season! Not the most unique but a very crowd pleasing fresh masculine scent with good longevity and projection
8,3/10

PeteB2023

I layered it with D&G Light Blue Italian Love...
I actually preferred the layered scent to DHS 2021 😁

Salohcin2148

After I wrote several love letters to this fragrance on here it took a total back seat to the sport 2021 this summer. I was recently thinking how I could get rid of this since I love sport so much and they fill the same needs.

Now that it’s cooled down to 60 degrees I thought I’d give this a try again to see if it still excites me. I wore this yesterday to work and received 3 compliments, one of which someone else took credit for. It was so satisfying to wear again and I realized how much I actually appreciate this scent. This is so good and shines in transitional weather.

Bearscents

I find this scent to be very close, almost identical, to Italo Ferretti Uomo (which is oddly enough not included on Fragrantica). A very woodsy and dark scent for being a designer. But Italo Ferretti is longer lasting and has stronger projection. Mark 7/10.

Ozyman

Well,
You cannot speak on that one without mentioning its father and its base inspirations, sure is
The Bleu De Chanel edt.
They took off the incense and jasmin and lower the citrus while strengthening the woods.
But you can still feel that bitter grapefruit all the way...
All these changes make Dior Homme less sportive and more mature.
Very very nice but respect to the father.

SmallCookie4

Not bad, very good masculine for starters or collectors. I have bad skin chemistry and it performs great 5-7 hours on skin, stay days on clothes during 5 hours in I'm still getting heavy whiffs. This is one of the strongest EDTs ever for me. The bottle and most notable... the atomizer.... beast !

MoctezumaC

I absolute love Dior perfumery. I love this more than my the latest Homme Sport.

This is so classy, clan, elegant, casual....it's everything. I do at least 12-15 sprays of this and it lasts on me all day. It is blended to perfection and the dry down is so smooth.....like an operator.

This was a gift from my sister and brother in law I used up my bottle in less than 1 year. I will definitely repurchase this for myself soon.

No need ask......coast to coast.....

I can see the comparisons between this and Bleu de Chanel, and I know bleu de Chanel has a huge fanbase. But this is way better than any form of BDC. I just enjoy it way more from the beginning to the end.

Simple, versatile but somehow still classy!

Dior masterpiece!

Chala88

Im in my 30s, and with almost 15 fragancies in my shelf, this has been one of the most pleasant fragances i smell and own in quite a while.
To be honest, im not biased by previous Dior Homme with the Iris.
This one on his own league its gorgeous.

Seriously considering shifting from my Ralph Club Parfum to this one as signature scent. They are not similar thou.

Edit:
Unfortunately i feel this doesnt last long enough, not sure if i get nose blind or what, but after an hour or so i stop feeling it.

Kustomeyez

//—-::) I like this one in moderation, (6 sprays or less) if too much is applied at one time it changes into something I don’t agree with, but when applied lightly, and then re applied every couple hrs in a dusting fashion vs soaking the skin it is a WONDERFUL FRAGRANCE. I get blu de channel vibes from this, I only have the BDC Parfum version, but I get strong similarities between the two. A travel decant of something is typically always in my pocket, first chances and second glances will Always favor the prepared!! 👌✅

shultzy6

This is a solid execution of the fundamentals: clean, clear, woody, slightly sweet, deeply comforting, and wears like a second skin. Even without the iris, and perhaps in part because of its removal, this is a fresh take on classic masculine fragrance. If you want the iris, it's still there in the Intense version, which is widely available.

To those who say Dior Homme 2020 is boring/uninteresting/generic, please stay on your fragrance journey. Continue to develop your palette. Then, come back to this fragrance a year or two, and you'll have a new appreciation for the nuances and quality this fragrance brings to a deeply engrained masculine DNA.

Az-316

I remember when they released this, I didn’t liked it back then because it should be a new fragrance out of DH line it wasn’t related to the line at all .. I still remember fragrantica rating it was 2.71/ 5 now it’s 4.04 .. yeah it was shocking in the first place for all but now I can say it’s a wonderful scent but again they should put it in different line & they can release different flankers.. anyway for me 4/5

Noctis21

Dior Homme 2020 is a wonderful and elegant fragrance. It does not have this iconic and legendary iris but this one is more versatile compared to the previous versions. It does not project much (not a beast mode like DHP) and we can believe the longevity is weak but it's juste because we become nose blind. This is my signature scent and I definitely recommend to try this one few times (the first time we smell it, it can be weird but after it becomes sooo good.)

sherifhassan78

Everyone hated this fragrance in the beginning. Then, when all the youtubers started to say it's a masterpiece and different in its own way and its an amazing fragrance, everyone started to say the same thing!
Well, for me, this is a very very masculine fresh scent, very boring and not special. Moderate longevity and projection. Not worth the hype for sure. This is my least favorite scent from Dior, even Sauvage EDT is better than this.
Note: Dior Home Sport 2017 is completely different, and much better and elegant than this one

MY SIGNATURE SCENT

PURE CLASS IN A BOTTLE WITH SIMPLICITY AT IT'S FINEST

whiteflowerranger

Easily the best fragrance ever made im glad this is receives undue criticism for no iris. Less people wearing :)

alternateu

(female opinion)
This is a rounded, lightly bitter, vetiver-dominant citrus. At first spray, it's pretty sharp and fresh - probably the pepper. But the vetiver really intensifies with the warmth of my skin and now it kind of reminds me of Terre d'Hermes Pure Parfum version (not the EDT) in the way it dries down. Very round yet bitter, unisex to masculine and pretty sexy. The vetiver really comes out on my skin. It sits very thick and rich on my skin, despite having a pretty low projection on me (that's totally fine - not every perfume needs to choke everyone out).

Scent: 7.5/10
Projection: Soft to moderate
Longevity: Moderate

bling_bling_littleking

Masculine, elegant, inviting, simply amazing. This one took a few months to macerate but now it’s so good. Lasts a full 10 hour day. Doesn’t project much but leaves a noticeable trail. Perfect for daily wear at the office. My new signature scent. My only irritation is the bottle cap doesn’t stay on like my other Dior bottles.

razorsedge

At first I dismissed Dior Homme 2020 as an okay, but simply safe and uninspiring cologne, especially compared to something as cult as Intense in the same line - it's a well-blended, but very conservative, ever so slightly generic citrusy woodsy fragrance. Nothing ground breaking, but does project quality. But then it grew on me.

It opens with Spicy Citruses and smoky Woods, with hints of Musk to it. Being mainly Woody fragrance, it's never cloying, and Citrus and Spices stand supportive in the background. It's a bit linear, but predictable and reliable throughout the day, and feels very high quality. This combo is warm, inviting and comforting, while still having hints of freshness to keep interest.
Dior takes a simple idea of a Citrus-Woody blend, and elevates it to the highest levels of quality and wearability with Homme 2020. It's like having an Apple compared to a Mango - sure you've tried many apples, but have you ever tasted an Apple *this good*? The versatility is outstanding - all seasons, all weather, all occasions. It's just great.

Hear me out - Dior Homme 2020 is perfect signature material. It sort of reminds me of Tom Ford signature in a way how we're used to hear "Tom Ford" and immediately think of their exquisite niche Private Blend line, and coming back to something as "normal" in comparison can warp our judgement into thinking it's even slightly boring. Yes it's very safe and different coming back from Private Blend line - a simple, but high quality and versatile Amber fragrance. Yes Dior Homme 2020 is similarly completely different from Intense, an missing the Iris notes, but it does it's own thing now. And it's bloody good at it.

If you're shopping just for one versatile fragrance - look no further than DH 2020. I love it and it's easy to recommend to everyone.

lxaxtxi

tester strip boy here sad :(

it’s a lot of modern woods, a little musky sweet, the dry down’s a bit BdC
kinda minimalistic and mature, so it’s very alluring

assuming this thing projects nicely

Menadrin

The scent is good, but sillage and longevity is nothing. I have to spray 10x or more at the time, and it has no projectivity. After 10-15 minutes i cant feel it on my skin. This is the fragrance, what is absolutely waste of money.

Stonewolf Treehawk

I've owned many fragrances over the years, and this version of Dior Homme is most likely my signature scent. I'm usually the type of guy that wears different scents everyday, and I usually own about 20 fragrances at a time. I'm in my 30's, and I typically go for more mature and old school colognes (Bois Du Portugal, Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Quorum, Kouros, Drakkar Intense, etc.) Whenever I wear DH, something magical happens between this fragrance and my body chemistry. Every single place I go, people are asking what I'm wearing because it smells so good. Friends, family, and strangers always compliment this fragrance when I wear it. I personally love the way DH 2020 smells, even though I find it pretty minimal and straight forward. It's a simple, safe fragrance that emphasizes the scent of wood. The Atlas Cedar in this is pretty realistic and natural smelling. This is the focal point of the fragrance, and the bergamot and pepper act as a support. This fragrance is probably the least complex that I own, but it works so damn well. I can wear it anytime of the year, day or night, and it takes on a different character depending on the environment. I smoke sweet black Cavendish pipe tobacco while wearing this fragrance, and the combination is absolutely fantastic. This fragrance is simultaneously modern and classic, and it's a great choice for those who like the old time scents but want to explore some modern tastes. Usually, I find the newer "blue" or "bubblegum" men's scents to be cloying and immature. I don't get that vibe from DH, however I think men of all ages, old and young, could appreciate this EDT.

Robt60

I actually bought this in error thinking I had picked up Dior Homme Parfum. Once I got home and read up, I had also sprayed it on skin in shop I wasn't disappointed. A great all year round creamy woody scent and another welcone addition to my dior collection. Has some similarities with sport but dry down is preferable for me and that's where it really differs. Very easy to where, never gets cloying even though there is some sweetness there and performance is solid as it generally is with all dior perfume.

Sadman fragrance

Not an original creation because it follows the footsteps of Terre De Hermes. Its basically terre de hermes but without the challenging notes of flint and the orange is replaced by bergamot. Tdh has dirty bourbon vetiver and this has clean haitian vetiver. Nonetheless a good fragrance for all occasions.

danilodeathayde

The more I experience this perfume, the more it grows on me. Many fragrances from Dior have this effect, especially from the Homme line.

It's one of the most comforting scents I've ever come across. It feels like the cooler side of a blanket on a chilly night or a warm hug in a cold one. From start to finish, it's pleasing, with a certain elusive quality that's hard to pinpoint. While it's woody, no specific wood note dominates. Neither overtly artificial nor purely natural, it gives off a warm, embracing vibe. Sometimes the citrusy note of bergamot comes through, sometimes it doesn't. It has a familiar yet entirely unique scent.

It comes off as so simple, almost minimalist. Yet, I can't find its likeness in any other fragrance, even within its own line. While Homme Sport might share some similarities, it feels like a different profile altogether. On the other hand, the Cologne and Intense versions stand out as masterpieces in their own right.

fragranticafreaks

White tee shirt, good fitting jeans, white leather shoes and Dior Homme 2020. Casual masculine perfection

h149

I guess Dior’s man must be a mannequin because he smells like I can disassemble him to build a fire.

I’m bored. It’s just…woody. Now it is a very fragrant and youthful wood. The best I can flatter it is calling it a fanciful take on the smell of fresh lumber. It’s reminiscent of that pleasant smell wood puts off when it’s still very new, not heavy and dark and hanging sludge-like off you, like some woody masculines do. But it’s not “warm,” “sensual,” or “spicy,” and it’s definitely not “virile” or “carnal”… unless it’s normal for you to find yourself particularly effective performing in the aisles of a Home Depot…

whiteflowerranger

Easily the best fragrance ever made. Its not supposed to be an iris update theres plenty of those including Homme Original. This is the new tdh sauvage and an underrated classic

Nawaf.669

Great scent and good performance 🤙🏻 If you like it go for it , only 6 spray

Watchthethrone

Best Dior fragrance to date

ascended

I passed freshly chopped logs of wood on my bike today and the moment I smelled them I instantly remembered this fragrance.

Dior Homme 2020 is photorealistic, fresh woody scent. It really smells like you're sniffing freshly chopped wood.

It's a scent I can mostly imagine on guys in their mid to late 20s', so a bit too mature for me. But a love nonetheless.

DichterundDenker

Simply a beautiful, smooth and woody men's fragrance. Classic, rather light and appropriate for every situation.

Tahsinss

Classy, manly and just an overall wonderful scent. My favorite cologne. My girlfriend is obsessed with this smell and even tho I own a lot of different colognes this one just works.

Bnicholasboo

Wonderful scent. I would have to believe that any negative reviews are strictly due to the lack of Iris. I owned the OG and loved it, I own this and love it too. It’s not too strong with normal use, it is just enough. It’s a very classy, manly, clean and proper fragrance. Perfect for a signature scent. This doesn’t smell like Amouage and this doesn’t smell like every other fragrance in the mall. Not different and weird, not mainstream and used everywhere. To me, it’s the most perfect signature scent there is. This is sophisticated and just plain nice.

NoirMemoir

Notino lately had an offer of "Make your own sample pack" = 5 pieces of 1 to 2ml samples of your choosing for the price of a pack of cigarettes. Im really happy for this couse i get to test many scents i keep hearing about. The selection isn't that big but its still a worthwhile deal.

So today's subject is Dior Homme. In the opening, the fragrance i can compare it to, from my collection, is Montale Red Vetiver / Terre D'hermes . Im surprised i don't see more people mention the Hermes. I see alot of the telltale signs mentioned tho, namely: Iso E super, Woody, Vetivery, Modern-gentlemanly, etc and all those characterisations allude me in that direction.

The differences are: In the opening,Dior Homme is still citrusy, bright, woody, vetivery but there's a lingering musk in the base, the elemi weighing in aswell. Red Vetiver replaces that musk with a peppery and even more citrusy effervescence and its also more crisp. Personally, i prefer the way the Montale done it. The bright citruses, slight pepper and dryness just intertwine better with the vetiver and woods to my nose.

In the drydown the vetiver is gone and the musk takes over but in time that too mellows out...but at this stage the scent is basicly fading.

Update: Dior Homme sometimes feels a bit aimless. I prefer Dior Homme Sport 2021 because the stronger lemon gives it a better direction and scent profile even if it is more summery.

fragfrance

Versatile everyday scent. Smooth woody musky, mass appealing yet unique.
I tested this when i bought DHI. Couldn't stop smelling my hand that day, so i went back and bought it later.
Scent is so much different from DHI, and i prefer this one.

dayonee

DHS 2021 was my first in the Dior Homme line and love it. Citrus opening with a smooth, woody dry down. Wanted something with the citrus toned down a bit, which I thought this could serve that purpose. Initially, after testing it a couple of times, I liked it. Didn't think it was groundbreaking or anything. Quaffable, like a generic, nice red table wine.

Over time, it definitely grew on me. Mass-appealing, more toward 30+ male. Versatile, gentleman-like, smooth, no-frill, almost austere. It's a straight-up GOOD PERFUME. The scent is self-defining to its name. It's Dior Homme. No mistake. Signature worthy. Big love.

Addendum:
The more I wear this, better it gets. Can't recommend it enough. If you are looking for a good, clean designer signature, this should be on your list.

minhoEK3

Giving me a bit of oldschool vibe, maybe shaving cream or something like that. I would say 30y+ everyday scent, but i would see older gentleman in suit would wear this as everyday scent. I have just decant but its going off skin quite quickly but i get noseblind easy sooo i cant say how long it lasts.
Nice, unfortunately not for me :)

Joezlol

This fragrance is fantastic! It's a versatile gem that works wonderfully for both office and everyday wear. Plus, the projection extends just about arms length around you. You'll get compliments wearing this without a doubt as it is mass appealing. One of my favorite designer scents.

Danew112

Probably my number one versatile fragrance, top shelf stuff right here. It's my signature scent, and I dislike how it got review bombed by people mad that there's no iris as it would probably be a 4.5 otherwise. It's fresh, spicy, woody, and just very masculine. You can grab it for anytime, anywhere, wear it to the office, out on a date night, it really just doesn't matter. Nothing really smells like it and I was incredibly lucky to pick up a 5oz bottle for $120 and plan on using it all as it's just a no brainier. For the price I wouldn't recommend a blind buy, but really anyone could blind buy this and like it.

Raul Claudiu

I don’t really detect any singular notes in this fragrance, a little citrus at the beginning, then this light, airy woody smell which I encountered many times before (probably the Iso E Super is the common element). However this is so simple and well rounded it just works,it just smells great anytime, anywhere, can’t go wrong with it. Versatility and mass appeal are off the charts. The lower rating is mostly caused by people who expected the original Dior Homme DNA.

dann.martin

Good fragrance (albeit a bit generic by Dior standards). I like the vetiver dry down.
Poor performance on my skin, though.
I prefer my DH Sport, which is great for hot days at the office. Clean and sober, but with a subtle playfulness that this one lacks. Better performance.
Were it not for the performance issue, I might recommend a blind buy if you're after a mature, classy, masculine, work-appropriate spring/summer scent. After all, this one has low to zero risk of displeasing. But you should check how it projects on your skin first.
Anyway, I'll follow Salohcin2148's advice and see if this samples starts performing better within a few weeks.

will_i_smell

Hands down in my absolute top 5 all time, and my number 1 woody scent. Would be a wonderful year-round signature scent. I lucked out and was able to get a Jan 2020 bottle from Sephora a year and 1/2 ago, and it's damn near perfect, to me. Don't ever want to be without this.

monsieur.moustache

The opening is somewhat unremarkable, but dry down is quite nice. The patchouli note helps to tie it altogether.

Fairly versatile, slightly more formal on the causal/formal continuum.

7/10

FaizalPermana666

No iris? No problem.

RayCashhhh

Just got this one back. Compared with the Sport version, I do think I prefer the latter just because it's fresher in the opening and sweeter in the dry down, but make no mistake, this stuff is good. Some may say this is blasphemous, but I would much rather have this than the iris-based version. I just think this is far more versatile and mass appealing. The reason why Dior changed the formula is simple: Dior is in the business to make money, not necessarily provide an "artistic expression". I have a diverse set of friends and acquaintances, but I could only see a few wanting to wear the iris-based version. Each and every one of them would wear the 2020 version. This is a modern-day classic folks, and after seeing this rated as 3.6 when I first got on this site, I'm glad it's finally getting its due praise. 9/10

alessandrolertora2000

To me it’s a modern take on a classic scent like Eight and Bob mixed with the Dior DNA. It’s not bad it has ISO-E super and it’s safe but still different from most designer fragrances and I’m glad they released a aftershave for this perfume I’ve tried it and it’s fantastic. Yet if I would still go for Eight and Bob over this they have the same function of being powdery woody and versatile yet eight and bob to my nose smells higher quality. It’s quite a simple and safe fragrance it’s good but it’s nothing that blows my mind away, mass appealing and kind of addictive but doesn’t have that wow factor that previous renditions in the Dior Homme line have

Clean and Modern Woods/Iso E super forward fragrance. This is an extremely safe scent for those who don't necessarily want something too much of anything (blue, sweet, green, marine). It's extremely mass pleasing with a slightly intimate projection and average performance on my skin. The only gripe I have with DH 2020 is just that slightly sharp/sour citrus opening; or maybe I am not too big of a fan of citrus top notes.

blood_and_wine

Smells very similar to Dior Homme Sport 2021 but without the strong citrus. If you own either of them I don't think you should get the other one, they're close while the regular version (this one) smells better. This one still has a citrus note, but it's nowhere close to being as strong as the one in DHS.

There's literally nothing to complain about when it comes to the scent. It can be worn anywhere at any time, mass-pleasing and inoffensive. Lasts quite a long time and projects pretty well. Most of the dislikes come from those who expected iris in here because of the older iterations of DH.
I'm not a fragrance snob, I haven't smelled a ton of scents and I've never really come across something like this so from my perspective, this smells unique. It doesn't resemble anything else (other than its own Sport flanker).

The bottle is sexy AF as always with again an excellent atomizer (I already reviewed DHI and DHS). In my personal opinion, this is the pinnacle of perfume bottle design. I don't think it gets any better than this (looks- and function-wise). The internal reflections of the cap when you look at the bottle from any angle... it's just so gorgeous.
I paid 80 euros for a new 100ml bottle. I must say it's on the expensive side for something you're supposed to wear casually but still worth it.

The first thing that came to mind when testing this at home was that is smells exactly like the perfume section at the airport. Like a mix of everything in the air.
I then went downstairs and my wife came out the bathroom and instantly told me that I smell like the perfume section they have on some boats here in Europe.

Luv it

wow. F the haters. This fragrance is a prime example of always trying something for yourself before making a call, and I'm glad I set out to sample this.

For what it aims to accomplish, it is utter perfection. Proper versatility king. So clean and genuinely luxurious smelling - huge confidence booster.

Can't really fault anything. As soon as I noticed how smooth the citrus was in the opening, knew it was gonna be a banger - so used to fragrances having overly aggressive citrus. The woods and musk add an excellent balance and is perfectly blended.

Instant purchase - easy dumb reach that is supreme quality and inoffensive.

Erubit

Wow. This is heavily overlooked in the community. This is a light, semi sweet citrusy fragrance with woods and musk blended really well which makes this almost if not a 10/10 fragrance.

Nothing ground breaking but extremely pleasant and sexy to smell, garners lots of compliments and is very versatile. Age range 25+. This could project or last a little longer but the good thing about Dior Homme 2020 EdT is that you could overspray and it would not likely offend anyone. I haven’t tried the older version to compare but I love this one. 9.75/10

Now that all the backlash and hate from comparing it with Original Homme have passed, I think it's time to give credit where credit is due.

Dior Homme 2020 is THE masculine fragrance of today. It's unique, yet very likeable. You can wear it in the summer or the winter - it doesn't matter.

In the summer it's sharp, vetivery and straight to the point. In the winter, however, it gives you this almost sweet cozy woody feeling. It works day and night, and even when you can't smell it anymore - everyone else can.
Doesn't need much more describing, you wont be disappointed. Don't even test it, just get it. In my book it's already a classic.

Thevoiceofthesnake

I hated all the other dior homme’s when i smelled them because of the iris note, but when i smelled this one blew my mind on how calming and classy it is.

I don’t agree with the other on the performance to me the performance is average to below average.

jbuzzz

This is such an easy one to love. I got this before diving into the DHI, DHP, Dior Homme Eau etc, all of which are great. And of course nothing at all alike.

If this were only called something else than Dior Homme it would be beloved by all, but I get the folks that don’t simply because of the name.

This is so damned good though, not only a compliment magnet (true kind, where you don’t have to ask if someone likes it, they just tell you that you smell awesome), but is also is just nice to smell on yourself all day. Very smooth, very like/love-able and very versatile.

Great performance, projection and sillage. Office friendly. Should be in every man’s wardrobe.

konchokjenpa

My only complaint is the performance. I like to fill a room, and this isn't gonna do it, it's a skin scent almost immediately. But, out of every masculine fragrance I have sampled, this is one of the nicest. Very classy, masculine and not what I'd describe as very youthful, but classical and timeless. Compared to some others, which smelled like they belonged on 21 year old playboys, this is for a man in his 30s who will treat you right. It's giving young daddy energy but like, very refined. Pepper and elemi are stand out notes to my nose, and the subtle warmth of cashmeran and iso-e super. Absolutely nothing groundbreaking happening here, but it's solid and good. Again performance sucks but when someone is close to you, with their nose in your collar, they're going to smell this and feel good.

molecularentropy

I really like this. It's very addictive. I kind of want to wear it all the time, except that I'm very sporty and live in sports clothes most of the time, so it doesn't make sense to. It smells modern and masculine, and it performs and lasts exceptionally well. Note that I've never even smelled Doir Homme (2005, 2011, 2014, et. al.) so I have no reference for comparison to the older ones. Maybe that puts me in the unique situation to not be disappointed at the line being ruined, as many people have expressed here, but I think this is a great fragrance. Woody, vetiver... I don't know, when I write that it sounds generic, but it really does have a soul of its own.

I'd say this is a safe blind buy for anyone who doesn't really care about fragrances. Like, your dad for Chirstmas or something. If you care about fragrances, then test if first, only because I can see what people mean when they say they have this base covered with other fragrances in their collections already.

The original isn't actually gone. We still have all 3: Dior Homme Original EDT 2021, Dior Homme Intense 2020 (not in the database) and Dior Homme Parfum. Check the official Dior website and see for yourself.
Regarding the hate, it's like both sides can't accept reality:
- the new one is an insult to the original and to its fans, while at the same time being a very nice woody musky aromatic fragrance
- old customers hate the new one for the missing iris, while the new customers who don't know about the iris frenzy couldn't care less

Smellybutgood

Just here to say that I don't give two flips how badly the feelings of those who were sad to see the original go were hurt......I was one of them by the way.

DIOR HOMME 2020 IS UTTERLY AMAZING and it executes perfectly what it was designed to do.

Define Sensual Masculinity.

Dior Homme original is a great fragrance.

Dior homme 2020 is also a great fragrance.

@darthfragrance I couldn't have said it better myself. 👏

DarthFragrance

If you review this fragrance for what Dior and Demachy set out to do, it's a 10/10. If you review it for what you personally wanted it to be, the score could be anyone's guess. Fragrance enthusiasts like unique stuff that sets itself apart from everything else because they've smelled thousands of things. They don't want monotony or boredom, it's understandable.

I think the vision for this fragrance was to create something classy with unprecedented versatility, and I think this achieves that. This stuff is even more versatile than Bleu de Chanel. This would work for literally anything, anytime, anywhere, no questions asked. Its woody and musky scent profile works for even more situations than the citrus dominant BDC. It still has some citrus in the background to keep things balanced. Overall, it's an incredible smelling fragrance. It's long lasting with moderate projection, but the sillage lasts as long as it stays a skin scent, which seems to be forever. This performance fits the scent profile, classy and inoffensive, the versatility king.

One thing I know for sure, is that if you lined up 100 random people and asked them if they prefer this fragrance or the original Dior Homme with iris, probably 90 of them would choose Dior Homme 2020. The fragrance community and the general population want 2 different things, and this fragrance was created for the general population. It wasn't created to appease fragrance enthusiasts. Let's not forget, Dior is a designer fragrance house with a priority on making money more than leaving an artistic footprint. But for what this fragrance set out to do, it's a 10/10. Masterfully blended, inoffensive, versatile, classy, long lasting and reliable.

All that said, I have smelled "thousands of things" and Dior Homme 2020 doesn't smell like much out there. I think the term "generic" gets thrown out for everything these days. Just pull up any fragrance and read the reviews. All you see is the word "generic" in every other review. "Oh this fragrance has cedar and musk, there are other fragrances on the market with cedar and musk! Redundant! Generic!" It's like settle down guys, there's thousands of fragrances on the market and they will sometimes share notes and similar scent profiles. I think people that use the term "generic" just have a limited sense of smell and can't notice the intricacies found in fragrances that set them apart from each other.

So much hate and undeserved criticism to this one...one reads the comments and the "one minute" reviews on this page and really sees the bias and the prejudices that this really nice and classy fragrance suffers to this day.
The original Dior Homme it's really my favorite one and his beautiful and addictive use of iris is unmatched: with Dior Homme Parfum they're my truly signature scents worthy fragrances of all my collection.
But it was only with wearing this one on multiple occasions, as in the gym or in hot or humid weather, that his elusive beauty revealed to me. Yes, it has a minimalistic structure or so it's perceived; a woody and refined muskiness aura are at the center of the fresh pepperiness and resinous feel that envelopes the scent. As an example, after a scorching or very moisty day, it drydowns in a truly envoloping aura that subtly radiates on your skin: the perfect blend of iso-e super and musky materials at his base really carries the freshness of the opening notes, blossoming in a truly beautiful, magnetic and inspiring scent.
It was only with my personal use that I've come to deeply respect the masterful work of Demachy on this one: no doubt taken with the task of the corporate overlords of Dior to create a more "modern" version of Dior Homme, it really created one more piece of the Dior Homme collection that covers for me something that the original, as much as i love him, doesn't suit me at all on certain ocasions and weather. This is the final link to me to really make the Dior Homme line the best designer fragrance line of all time.

LeSmeller

Dior Homme is a good, expensive-smelling fragrance, but with caveats. The basic problem with this scent is poor projection. It's like a sketch, while Homme Intense is an oil painting.

I also take issue with the composition. What I can smell is mainly peppery cedar (which I find irritating, unfortunately, not only in this perfume, but also in others), the rest is a distant background. This makes the scent rather one-dimensional, like a head without a body, and dry, probably best worn when sweating. Behind this, there is gentle, musky sweetness to it. I would prefer more of it at the forefront.

Overall, the vibe is very minimalistic and understated, and at the same time focused, aggressive, angry even. I imagine Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter, dressed either all in black or not all, would enjoy the fragrance.

Gives off a mature gentleman vibe, perfect for guys in their 30-40s. A bit too mature for me though haha.

Samuelr

It's a nice smell more suited to someone older more mature but in general smells like a peppery piece of chipboard.
