For someone who doesn't love overly floral or powdery fragrances... This is NICE.

Earthy and woodsy and very lightly chocolatey in the background... but it's primarily floral. It's maybe a bit "expected"? It smells sophisticated for sure. Kind of fades fast but in a really good clean way? Starts to dry down and just smell like soap, which could work in it's favor honestly. This is excellent.

Dt_vino

Finally!! I finally found a lip sticky iris frag that I can vibe with. I’ve tried VUI, Gentleman EDP, reserve prive, etc and I just couldn’t get into them. This is classy, but still casual. Beautiful iris/cacao combo. Sultry, seductive, sexy. Surprisingly versatile. Only weather I wouldn’t wear this is mid day humid summer heat.

Victor Grey

Most underrated fragrance of all time...

Siokasvn

It has been a very nice, though after some time, it feels flat... I have been wearing it for less than a year and I just cannot seem to feel the same thrill as I did when I first wore it... A remarkable scent, but I have started smelling it everywhere.

Toji glazer

gfs favorite fragrance on me sexy as hell

mnmjoker

Bought this by accident, Since I wanted the Intense. I still have a 100ml bottle with around 80 ml left. 7R01 is the batch code, in case someone from Europe is interested.

hellogoddag

Complex masterpiece
Lipsticky (iris), leather & woody steam
Cardamom & cacao
Every single note is delicious, admireable and extatic. The fusion is divine.
It´s one of the few fragrances that are daring, controversial and sophisticated at the same time as it is mass appealing.
It is next level fragrance at a next level

rhrsouza

I really like Eau and Intense (never smelled the Parfum unfortunately), but this is the most balanced of the Dior Homme's in my opinion. I can't get enough of the cocoa/iris drydown, it is just perfect.

eau de zhar

I love this DNA coz matched with my skin on tropic country

Dolce Gabbana Enthusiast

I've smelled this one, DHI and DHP. This is easily the best of the whole line.

Noctis21

My favorite !

richmilton

The 2005 version with silver steam is said to be the best although I don't know coz I never smelled. I have this one purchased 10 years ago when everyone was hyping DHI. To me DH 2011 release is better than DHI and far better than the newest release.

TheMoThatKnows

Oh, this is truly magnificent.

I once picked this up in a half-price pre-Christmas sale. I was surprised to find it, as I didn’t think Dior allowed discounting.

I agree with others who find the iris reminiscent of a lady’s make-up bag. That is why I love it - it is unique, comforting and familiar, all at the same time.

To package this scent in a masculine fragrance was just a work of genius (but anyone could wear it, of course).

I would reserve this for the finest occasions - your wedding day, a milestone anniversary or meeting Royalty.

Yes, it’s THAT good.

Scentolium

Just bought it and sprayed it... undecided but definitely have a question -

why am I getting strong Dior Fahrenheit Parfum vibes during the opening and middle?
According to Fragrantica they share absolutely zero in common but I am getting that cherry Coke black cherry thing from Fahrenheit Parfum in the Dior Homme 2011 opening.
So weird.

RGH01

Dior Homme is a timeless masterpiece from a bygone era - it pushed the boundaries of what a man should smell like and popularised the use of iris in the men’s designer market. It opens with a refreshing burst of juicy bergamot, alongside slightly green and aromatic notes of lavender and sage; a nod to more traditional masculine notes.

Soon after this the stars of the show emerge - a smooth, powdery and buttery iris, combined with a soft and delectable cacao to create the most delicious scent trail. In the base there’s hints of a subtle leather, earthy vetiver and patchouli, however it’s all about the Iris and cacao.

I’ve not tried the new Dior Homme Original so I can’t compare, but all I know is that discontinuing this was a tragedy on Dior’s part. Dior Homme Intense is fairly close to this scent profile but I find it lacks the addictive cacao which pairs with the iris perfectly. This is the king of designer fragrances and a true classic.

shyfilly

Robert Pattinon's signature scent so obviously I'm addicted to it! Hopefully I'll get my hands on a bottle one day, however its too expensive to buy if I'm not going to wear it 😂 my future husband will be made to wear it though.

JustHalfling

This is everything I wanted DHI to be. Sophisticated and gentle, yet still quite manly thanks to its woody freshness. I fell in love with this scent, as I like to draw parallels with what it represents and where I am in life currently. I am amazed to have stumbled upon a 2018 bottle in its original box for a good price (110$ USD) at a local store. I will be rocking this with a lot of pride until the bottle is empty.

Creamy_ambrette

I really wish Dior would sell DHP and Dior Homme Original here in the states! Once in a while you can find either being sold on discounters otherwise they’re marked up triple by resellers. All my research indicated the Dior Homme original is the same as the 2011 formula. I just bought the last 3.4 oz tester of the 2011 formula off fragrancenet for $82!! Now I feel stupid for buying a 1.7 oz for the same price on Mercari yesterday but I’m okay with it. It just goes to show, if you love a fragrance, buy backup bottles.

Danielh96

What a masterpiece this carries a lipsticky and iris scent that draws me in. Unfortunately today the people who work at my nearest perfume store didn’t know what was in front of them. It was a 2014 batch 3.4 oz tester that they were using for the new Dior Homme. So I bought the tester for 82 dollars! To me I am truly happy to be able to find such a rare bottle that I thought to myself I will never find. I have not smelled the Dior Homme Original many say it smells the same as the 2011. But in my opinion I would pick up more of the lipsticky feeling in this vintage formula.

LeatherCouch

This fragrance is best worn in summer nights. It has a sea-like quality.

Agent47

Hi y’all I’ve got the vintage formula batch 5Y01 anyone interested should private message me thanks!

joseffgabriel

Tested this along with other Iris-centered fragrances from niche to indie. This one easily tops them all even at the drydown. This composition is spectacular and harmonious.

Whateverwhocares

Speaking for the silver stem version… very powerful stuff. Think of a French whore house. Every note shines. It’s flowery and feminine when over sprayed. Otherwise an awesome frag.

kozziezee

The one my gf describes as ‘bisexual’ lol. One of her favourites on me and definitely one of mine. It’s one of those ‘why don’t I wear this more often’ when you wear it fragrances. Well designed, well blended, casual and elegant at the same time. As others have said over and over, let me repeat it myself: still one of the very best designer releases of the last twenty years. A kind of open secret that other houses have either been reluctant to copy or find hard to? Who knows for sure! This will always be in my collection while it’s still available.

SwyIntenselyLover

That's Dior Homme not Dior Homie

ZiggySmellsGood

This is one of my favorites . Of course being discontinued I was barely using it, however after Dior Homme Original came out after comparing the two I realized that the DHO has macerate as this one has . This has better performance being that it has sat longer so I am using it again . It as smooth, sexy, and an absolute classic for that reason . The performance is not crazy but is good . It last 5 hours that I notice and after that others still can smell it although i don’t . This what you were for the ladies so it sits closer to the skin which is not always bad because this fragrance is so beautiful if someone gets close to you and gets even a small whiff it sparks curiosity and people will wanna get closer to you . I love DHO but the performance is not there yet so as it macerates I will be wearing this only on occasion. This has the more lipsticky iris than DHI and I love it for that reason . You can’t go wrong with anything from the DH line . I wish they would bring back Dior Homme Eau but I’ll take what I can get . This is a ground breaking fragrance that is timeless !

TheWoodman

I have the 2011 version, personally and i guess, i ma be noseblind to it or prefer stronger and more radiating fragrances. I do like it but it’s not strong, it doesn’t last very long, 4-5 hours of smelling it but close up. Others seem to notice it more than me, i tend to layer it with ( weird i know ) Amouage reflection. I spray the Dior first and on all pulse points and on my back then i add a small amount of reflection in two places. This mixture really gets attention but i guess each to their own. This will last me a very long time as i just do not smell or get the masterpiece comments that others seem to get. Nice but that is all, not one I’d be gushing about.
I dislike Sauvage as it’s worn buy too many and i like to stand out but I’d sooner wear that than this, as a stand alone fragrance. Sorry

KejaunF

This is it. If youre 35+ This will get the job done. The guy who where’s this is a boss and doesn’t wanna smell all sweet and pretty and cute. He smells like class elegance….. money. This is a grown man scent…This is not for kids.

Spinaltap

Holy crap. This stuff lives up to the hype. I’m not into unisex fragrances, and was super hesitant to try this given the rumors of it being quite unisex. I pulled the trigger when a too good to pass offer occurred and just got it…and regret not getting it sooner. I’ve never smelled it before now, but it’s a very smooth incredibly classy but understated fragrance.
I really like the 2020 version, but love the new Dior homme sport a bit more. With this 2011 version and the new Dior sport I feel like all my bases are covered. Very tempted to sell off my lesser used fragrances to get a back up bottle of this sadly discontinued masterpiece.

G30540i

Seriously, incredible. My fragrance journey started when I was 13 or 14 but I didn’t know what I was doing.
It wasn’t until I was 20 years old that it really began.

I was working as an Hvac apprentice and smelled this scent in one of my coworkers cargo van that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. It was everything I wanted out of a fragrance and smelled magical. After a few weeks, my coworker asks me to run to the van and get something out of the drivers side door pocket and there it was-
Zara’s release- White Soho.
I sprayed some on my wrist and was blown away.

I began looking for a bottle online and it was discontinued. Bottles were going for $300+ when they originally costed $50 for 100ml.
I couldn’t bring myself to spend so much for a simple fragrance that originally costed $50.

A year later, I stumble upon another release by Zara called Vibrant Leather and it was great, but they had a flanker called “Warm” and it smelled 90% like White Soho so i Instantly bought some.

It was great, but that last 10% is what really did it for me and Vibrant Leather Warm was missing it, plus it didn’t perform anywhere near as well. Now it’s also discontinued.

Now I’m on the hunt for a similar fragrance as many of Zara’s releases are clones. Bal d’afrique was supposedly quite similar and had the same perfumer, God is a woman was a feminine version of White Soho and wasnt Quote as good imo.

I end up finding out about Dior Homme 2020 and it was actually pretty similar except the notes didn’t match, nor did it have iris.
I end up finding out about Dior Homme pre-2020 and recently found a bottle in a Sephora that Dates 2013.
A Full bottle being used as a tester, it was incredible.
Store employees wouldn’t sell it to me and I was desperate to purchase it.
I even bribed them $300 and they still wouldn’t budge.
They said they would either throw it out or send it back to Dior. Imagine how I felt.

They ended up giving me 2 decants filled to the brim of the stuff.

It smells like a higher quality version of Zara WS thats better in every possible measure.

I’m in the minority, but I feel like I can make a connection between DH2020 and DH pre-2020. Even if theres no Iris or many of the other notes, both of them smell like White Soho and they both smell great.

I know I can just buy some online, buy the new DHO, use my DHI, or something along those lines, but I enjoy the Hunt to find an old bottle in the store.
I’ve done it before and I’ll do it again.

I can’t give any fragrance a 10/10 because there are so many variables, but anything over an 8/10 in my book is incredible.

This is a 9.7, it’s very versatile, the scent Profile is amazing, it Lasts me all day, it isn’t too strong and certainly isn’t too weak, everyone loves it and nobody has it. It knocks it out of the park in every regard.

It’s truly a masterpiece. I love DHI, but it’s not as versatile and it’s too good for many situations.
I end up wearing DH2020 more as I don’t care about wasting Sprays and It’s more versatile.

Also DH2020 layered with DHI at a 50:50 or 2:1 ratio is amazing.

I will get down on my knees for a bottle of DH pre 2020 and I’m as straight as they come.

Have you ever smelled a fragrance that makes something click in you?
Like, after catching a whiff of it you finally Get It™?

For starters I'm a resolute Valentino Uomo fan. It's my favourite fragrance, I'd commit arson and assorted atrocities for a single droplet. And for quite some time, due to it being virtually impossible to get in my country, I kept looking for a replacement or clone juice which eventually led me to Fragrantica. Ever since then I've tangoed with all of the "iris-y related parfums". Your Gentlemen, your Futuras, your Zaras, your Bennetons, your Prada's La Hommes, your Homme Intenses, all great in their own ways... and while they did smell somewhat similar to each other, it felt as if there was something missing. They shared a vibe, for sure, but I could tell that there was something I wasn't quite seeing in the bigger picture. Eventually I found me a flask of VU, my White Whale hath been vanquished, and everything was lovely once again.

Until a couple of days ago, while on the loo at a friend's house who was moving out. At first I chuckled at the bottle of what I assumed was Dior Homme 2020, all by its lonesome on a gigantic white particleboard shelf. But then I realized what was before me - a first batch bottle of DH 2011. I felt like Indy on Raiders of the Lost Ark, face to face with the Golden Idol. So I did the unthinkable... I asked my friend if I could spritz some on me. Because I'm not a monster.

Holy hell. The Missing Link was there, in my friend's bathroom, all along. That's the glory there were all trying to recapture, all of the sudden I could see the strands of DNA running through each fragrance. I could just imagine Polge and Demachy trading blow after blow, trying to one up each other at the top of their respective games. I'm pretty sure that was not the case as they're parfumers and not boxers but that's besides the point.

Does it smell great? Of course it fucking does, It's Dior Homme! You don't need me to tell you that it's phenomenal. My friend's living room smelled like paradise for what felt like an eternity. All that I can tell you is that for a fleeting second I thought my heart had been stolen and my favourite scent would be losing its Heavyweight Title. But like in many boxing matches, Uomo ended up winning by points. But maybe... just maybe... a little tryst wouldn't hurt.

And man, I can't even begin to fathom how good DH 2005 must be.

I have a bottle from 2014, it is absolutely beautiful, heaven in a bottle. On my skin it last 10+hrs and projects pretty well for 2-3hrs, hopefully the new Dior homme original version becomes available in Australia. Anyone who can get their hands on this stuff (women too) really should, it is easily one of the best scents you will ever own.

Mhthefragrancelover

Smells rather classy, and lasts very long in my experience. I haven't bought in to the hype of the 'dior homme' line, but this sample I got, made me me wonder why I haven't. Smells like someone with money, but at the same time, it does kinda smell grandpa-ish to me. You gotta dress this one up properly I think and, younger men probably wouldn't go for this one. Also should mention that I took a shower, sprayed on burberry hero edp, yet I can still smell the dior homme I sprayed on earlie, wafting up every so often. I probably wouldn't go for this one specifically, but nonetheless, it's an amazing scent. Definitely enough to spark my interest.

GateofHeavens

2011 was absolutely phenomenal. Straight up from another dimension. No perfume could ever manage to smell as masculine and elite as DH imo. I wish I could find it again.

Abzozo

I got the second last bottle at the shop,in RSA of all places. This smells good, you can smell the quality in the fragrance. It reminds me of Dior homme parfum but it doesn't become too dark like its older and more powerful sibling. How I wish it projected but alas gotta pick a struggle. A love for me.

Arber Cami

Rich, powdery, iris, masculin, 10+ hour longevity fragrance, I think this is a must have classy masculin fragrance. I own both Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense and I absolutely love both scents. Having both : Dior Homme and Dior Homme Intense, I think is a little obsolete, because they smell 90% similar. I would say buy the one you like but not both.

Ferra_Verto

Powdery iris lipstick with strong facets of chocolate, leather, and amber. Very sleek and sophisticated, also very cozy.
Lasts for 10 hrs, projects majorly then settles into a beautiful cocoon.
Perfect for transitioning and cool weather, looking forward to enjoying it this autumn.

catcat42

I both have this one and the intense. I like them both though intense has more profound iris and sweeter. I love having both. This one has a lower staying power on my skin though..Nothing groundbreaking but nice.

Kelz23

Decided to wear this to work today for the first time. Applied at 5:45 am and got a compliment around 2 pm. With that said, longevity is pretty good which surprised me because I’ve seen a lot of comments about longevity/performance. it’s also an inoffensive scent (I work in health care). Compliments don’t happen often so I was happy about that lol

BigBobRoss

Smooth slightly sweet chocolatey honey boozy this stuff is lovely...

Great for dates and nights out, very seductive.

Excellent longevity and sillage high quality

timecapsule96

I had to get this one, I saw someone selling it on OfferUp and couldn’t pass it up. Now I have the “big” tier of Iris scents: Dior Homme, Gentleman Givenchy EDP, & Valentino Uomo Intense EDP. My favorite is GG, then VUI, then Dior Homme! They are all really good, I just think Dior Homme doesn’t last long enough when compared to them which makes sense though because this is an EDT. I do find it fascinating though because while they’re all iris based, you can smell the different sort of sidekick that goes with them; Dior Homme’s being cacao, Valentino’s being orange, and Gentleman Givenchy’s being that lovely orris. Overall I find them to be more of an autumn and winter type of scent(s) and definitely for more serious events & occasions like a date or family get together. I can only hope I find the intense and Parfum versions of this fragrance soon as I am a sucker for iris!

9/10

ferino5

There is a light "vintage sensе" .Women's lipstick+cacao+iris+velvet....
Masterpiece!

Tyler1993fresh

Very polarizing scent that just isn’t for me. I have a nearly full 3.4oz bottle if anyone wants to swap dm me.

Trishaaa

I was expecting this to be super masculine but it kind of took me by surprise a little. Not sure what gave it a bit more of a unisex feel to it but I really like what they've done here! It feels a little different/unique but at the same time it doesn't steer too off course with mass appealing qualities. Really nicely done.

JF_Mus

On June 2021 got an oficial sample of Dior Homme of 2013. It first left me intrigued, then captivated, then finally in love. Learning about his discontinuation, it was disheartning. Gladly, with some patience, got not only the Original edition from 2021 as one from the discontinued version of 2019.
It's a really amazing scent, and made me chosing this as my signature line. One of the benchmark of designer fragrances.

Gmess

What a great fragrance this is. One of the best dry downs period, designer or niche. I’m not a fan of scents with a powdery vibe (which this has from the iris) but it blends so well with the other notes it’s not overpowering through the opening to the dry down. I mainly get 3 notes from DH: Iris, cocoa, and leather. From the first moment you spray DH on your skin or clothes, the quality and richness of this fragrance is undeniable.

I hear about performance issues with the edt, but I have never had issues with projection or longevity. I get about 2-3 hours projection with 8+ hours of longevity and it’s one of the only fragrances in my collection that garners me a compliment pretty much every time I wear it. It’s also very versatile, you can pull it off at the office and at a formal event. I think the best time to wear it is on a date, because the ladies love this stuff. I will always have DH in my collection, it checks all of the boxes of what a great fragrance is, an easy 10/10.

richmilton

One of those fragrances that requires at least a dress shirt or nice polo. Wearing DH with a hoodie and baseball cap would just be weird IMHO. But yet, rock it the way you want.

Ibra_Alajati

I love putting this one on a daily basis, just like the sauvage, this one gives you always a push up and confidence, nose catching performance and i always get asked about it.
Loved it a long time ago and must be added to my collection.
Its so much Masculine and Dominant and you just can’t not to love the smell of it

jazsi

Masterpiece. 10/10.

autumnrequiem

So this one is worth every single ounce of the praise it gets. I hope Dior never, ever discontinues this and if they do, have Francis Kurkdjian work upon the base of this instead of rewriting the book which is what Demachy attempted to do.

This is a memorable, timeless scent that well deserves every good word on it.

hijoebye

One of the most beautiful perfumes. Period. I remember when I first smelled this and through the years I've gone back to it time and time again because it just sticks in your memory. I think a truly unique and successful scent will do this. It's waxy and powdery with the lovely iris note, the cacao and leather help smooth it out. Truly an iconic masterpiece!

I saw this on display at duty-free in the airport so I decided to jump at the chance to buy it. I asked the associate if this 2011 version is what's in the sealed boxes and she assured me yes. I traveled home excited to open the box only to find it's the new, 2020 woody version. I quite like the DH 2020 and don't understand the hate for it, but my disappointment made me dislike it more. Although more versatile, it's also safe and uninspired. I'll be selling my 2020 bottle.

Still on the hunt for the Original Dior Homme!

Alireza.D2

One of the most beautiful perfumes ever made by Dior.
Its floral woody fragrance which dries down to clean powdery floral scent.
I hardly imagine this one bother anyone even in term of over-spraying.
Very Elegant but linear.
Safe and easy to wear.

Preferably for spring nights and autumn days.

User123

@cathrinejohanne91 It has, the 2020 version is a completely different fragrance. This 2011 version is still being sold/sold again as Dior Homme Original, though (luckily). But it's only available in some European countries.

cathrinejohanne91

Why did i just discover this now? I randomly found a sample of this and i absolutely LOVE it ❤

It seems like this has been reformulated? Correct me if I'm wrong.

jaycarroll21

I want to love this as I love DHI so much, but it gives me headaches when I wear it, something about the floral notes I think. I do like this, but yeah, can't wear it often at all :(

LeSuedois

Wow, this one lived up to expectations - and then some! It's a great smell in every way - masculine, well balanced, great depth, strong but not overwhelming, classy, timeless. If I had "discovered" it earlier, it would already be a signature scent for me, for sure. Oh well - something to look forward to.

marcel2782

A leather fragrance it must be called, due to its ever so presence since the very first sprays. The flower like (not makeup like) iris paired with some very high quality and delicious cacao comes second in attention, while the rest (mostly the sage, patchouli and vetiver) are here to embellish and build interest over these most prominent accords. A very balanced fragrance with a defined masculine character and satisfying performance with the quality touch anyone should expect from Francois Demachy.

classic.pder

I love to wear this with a cashmere sweater

xalaNGP

To me this smells like an art museum, but in a good way! Very mature and refined. I could almost call it intellectual. The type of smell that reminds me of walking through a fine art exhibit. I see someone wearing this as an established gentleman or dresses to portray that kind of image.

xMaxdMx

Keep hearing people say it smells “feminine” and like “lipstick bag.” To me, I do not get a feminine vibe at all. This smells TOTALLY masculine, while at very mature. Don’t be fooled by being told it’s feminine, it’s not.

RichieRich

This is a beautiful fragrance in every way, great scent, lasts long, shines in the winter, but unfortunately grown tired of it, will not repurchase, have about 30 ml left from my 150ml bottle.

Bottle is from 2017
Overall rating 7/10

Detman101

11NOV21 (Arrival day)
BATCH CODE: 5N01
Date of manufacture: January 2015
50ml bottle

Oh how I have waited for this day...
It's even more beautiful than I expected and hoped for.
This is a lot more floral than Dior Homme Intense and I can tell already this is going to be my new daily wear. It's more powdery than my bottle DHI-2020 and DHI-2016...and yet brighter with much more of a flowery addition to the strong Iris.
I can definitely see wearing this daily more than either of my DHI bottles because DH-O is so much less sweet and it doesn't initially smother you in Iris the way DHI does. This is absolutely magnificent...but better to me in a wholly different way.
DEFINITELY ordering another bottle come December!
This is heavenly!

Kloppo

Sweet fucking jesus why have I not smelled this before. Got a 2014 batch blind bought on facebook and it's an earthy, leathery less powdery feve delicieuse. It takes the powderiness and at times overly-sweet feve ingredients and makes it more earthy and manly with the cacao right at the front. Absolute masterpeice, I went out and bought another 2014 off ebay as soon as I wore it once.

Of all my +100 collection this is my all time favorite. I don’t wear it as much as I want for fear of running out. Dior somehow thinks Americans don’t want or like the original. The new version is ok, generic mass appealing ok-ness. That Iris is soothing to my soul. If I only had one scent to choose for the rest of my life, this is it!!

Corspin

The opening with bergamot is an excellent choice relative to the overall blend. The drydown is okay, at that point you'll be left with a sweet and powdery smell mostly.

It's a pretty classy smell that would suit an older person more than me. It's also a bit too feminine for my taste. That doesn't mean the smell is bad, it's just not something I would wear.

Detman101

I also have DHI-2016...but I want this one too.
Unfortunately I can't find it anywhere in stores, and I received a gift of the "Dior Homme-2020" from my wife because we both thought it was the original "Dior Homme" with the iris, cacao and lavender...But it is not the one that I wanted/desired/needed, so it went back for a full refund and the purchase of a bottle of DHI-2020.

Kelz23

I have DHI. I love that fragrance, definitely top 5 in my collection. Would it be redundant to buy this one to? I haven’t gotten my nose on it but the based on reviews it seems like It’s blind but worthy.

adelsbjm

2019 DH - Comforting, refined, olfactory contentment. Love to wear this in the colder weather. Doesn't project on my skin, lasts as a skin scent 6-8 hrs. Haven't tried Original. I recommend people others in the States to try Intense unless they can find this affordably.

Perfect Shot

Ok, so this smells really great, tried it a few times. The problem is, i find it to be zero versatility. And when i say zero i really mean it. Its too sweet to be used in summer/spring, too fresh to be used in winter/autumn, its a bit too feminine for my taste. It smells like pure lipstick.
I do really really like the smell, but there is absolutely no situation where i would use this.
If it wasnt so expensive id buy it just to smell at home alone, but for that price
and no usability i'm not buying.

I'm surprised by the performance though. Lasts every bit of 12 hours, i even tried it side by side with DHI and this one lasts longer than DHI.

mo choudhury

I just edited my first initial review because I was new and there was a lot of confusion going about with DH line. but my first review is regarding the NEW original 2020. not the 2011 version. and the new original 2020 version is now up on fragrantica and I'm guessing because it's slowly coming out to people in the US now maybe? plus fragrantica have put the release year as 2021? 🤷🏾♂️
gent scent also mentioned it recently.
I'm from UK, I've stocked up like 3 bottles of the original 2020 and Parfum 2020. probably get two more of each and I'm done.

hendrafellany

if this was a character in a movie, it'd be the Hollywood version of Hector in Troy. highlights a man's masculinity and at the same time, his softer, loving nature.

good balance of dominantly woody notes, with florals floating around. a very unique masterpiece. probably only need this if u dont own the intense version. both smell very similar.

Alanitoo

Dior Homme original is very similar to Dior Homme Intense, having both would be redundant. Both are great scents though. Creamy and powdery. A bit on the mature side.

MilesJamaica

I just got this jesus its soooo refined. I got it for 90 usd. Its the most Refined scent I have ever smelled cant wait to get the intense. Instant 10/10 right up there with Noir Extreme as one of my favs.

FragMaster

A few months ago I purchased a new 100ml from France (origines.com I think).

I smelled this several years back and although I enjoyed it, I found it too mature for me in my early twenties. Fast forward to 2021, now in my early 30s and I finally feel old enough for this.

At first I was disappointed with this recent purchase as it was weak in performance, longevity and lacked any depth. 6'ish months later and it's much better. I checked the batch code and it was only made sometime towards the end of 2020. Now it's had some time to macerate it's pretty much how I remembered it all those years ago. Beautiful fragrance, and worth every penny

Schmellin_Good

How could they stop marketing this in the USA? What a ridiculous decision. I know you can order it from overseas but come on. The 2020 version smells like a "generic men's woody" fragrance.

I accidentally came across a bottle at an outlet mall fragrance shop recently. That was a good day.

the_internetguy

To my nose, this sits right between Valentino Uomo and the current Dior Homme Intense. More character than the very pleasing Valentino and slightly easier to wear than DHI. A masterpiece!

Invasionbg

Still amazingly addictive in 2021! Got one recently and I love it! It's a bit lighter than DH intense and Perfume but it's much more wearable. It's projecting just enough, and I get 6 hours of noticeable longevity which is good for edt concentration.

petero321

Smells great to me, just what I was looking for but sadly on my skin it is very weak. I’ve got a new bottle of the “original” homme, and I will keep using it but probably won’t buy another when it runs out. I can detect it for a couple of hours then can only smell it right against my skin after that, then it’s gone after 4/5 hours.

PierreLouis

Yeah, next time we'll read that The Beatles sound like Oasis but he prefers Oasis.

thundergust

I had Valentino Uomo for a year before boarding on this hype train. Smells 90% similar to Valentino Uomo, except with a weaker cacao smell. 2018 batch. Weak projection and life. The iris-heavy opening is very nice, but the drydown is really average smelling (smells like lipstick). I really prefer the Valentino.

Jayhawkforever

I liked it, I owned it, I sold the 90% full bottle though. When I want to wear an Iris first fragrance I reach for Iris Bleu Gris (Iris Blue Grey) by Maitre Parfumer et Gantier. As much as I liked Dior Homme it wasn't in the same league with IBG. This isn't intended as a negative review of Dior Homme, I just realized the difference between a good designer level frag & a great niche level frag because of the two aforementioned scents. Still, I think highly of Dior Homme.

FriedPi

Reminds me of the smell inside a woman's purse, but in a good way.
An iris bomb pulled back to earth with vetiver, leather, patchouli.
Surprisingly 'dark smelling', at least at first, then the soapy lavender peeks through, and the iris plays friends with the vetiver.
It's classy and well-blended, but not a lot of projection. I like it okay, but doesn't quite do enough for me.

Bradjohnson54

If you’re on the fence about spending a pretty penny to purchase this, bust out the piggy bank. This fragrance is elite. It’s masculine, chocolatey, smooth, and sexy. Very good for the workplace, date nights or just whenever you want to wear it. A 2020 release labeled “Dior Homme Original” (the version that Dior France sells online currently only in Europe) can be had from a seller on eBay called topscents for around $120

Ford4630

I am happy to subscribe to the masterpiece theory - the quality of the ingredients is undeniable and the blend is superb. It smells really sophisticated and expensive. By the way, I have the version that has ‘Dior Homme Original’ written on the front of the bottle. While I bought it from a reputable supplier, I do wish it would last a bit longer. No other criticism, I am a major fan of this fragrance. Pure class. Grab it while it is still available and beware of the fakes for sale on eBay!

Agros

Got the "Dior Homme original" and while I do love the scent, it just doesn't last on me. Might need some maceration though. Batch 1D01. To be honest I like my Dior Homme Intense much more, but will come back if my opinion changes the next couple of months.

RichardB

Reviewing the new Dior Homme Original, bought off the Dior site.

I’d put the original 2005 and 2011 versions up there in my top 3 fragrances of all time. Masculine and yet sensual with the iris. Polge created a masterpiece here.

The Original is how I remembered the older versions. My only worry is that the performance seems to be quite weak on my skin. I’ll still buy this as the opening is exceptional and it brings back many good memories. £78 for 100ml is not a bad price for such an exquisite fragrance.

sangfroid7

Smelled on a tester strip to compare with Sauvage. It's a classic scent with a warming effect. Very versatile, dress up or down, any season (except high heat). The notes didn't really jump out to me like with Bleu de Chanel, they really blend together to create a single scent. This makes it less natural and easygoing than Bleu, but more "impressive" and suave, if that's your thing. Very few musks, think more of a more complex, subtle version of a caramel moisturizer. I much preferred it to Sauvage, which seemed very similar to this but with a cool opening (exclusive-feeling) and much less depth.

emerson10

OMG I get it now. I had ordered Dior Homme of FragranceNet and IDK what batch I got, but all got was Hollister/Abercrombie circa 2005 vibes. It actually smelled like a mix of California by Hollister and Fierce by A&F (which is nostalgic for me-- in so much as it takes me back to crying to my mom in the dressing rooms that nothing fit me and wondering why no one ever asked if I wanted to work there-- so yeah, I actually enjoyed it, but did not get the hype).

Finally I got the right batch. There's that chalky iris/orris combo I needed.

Love it. It's spicy, it's aromatic, a tad sweet with that earthy chalkiness all rolled into one. 100p unisex.

Constantin Tudor

You will find on dior.com under the name of dior homme original! Thank me later!

Foxsbiscuits

The notes of dusty cacao, powdery iris, and the leather all seem to overlap in a Venn diagram with Dior Homme being the centre piece. Throughout the fragrance there'll be times when one facet is more dominant than the other but it never strays so far from the core so as to be unrecognisable, so it is quite linear. The similarities between these notes merge beautifully in a seamless way that leaves no bumps on the journey. For me it's the same feeling as when you sit in a room just before sunset and the next thing you know it's dark, it just creeps up on you without you realising, no sudden movements or sharp edges.

I love the warmth of this fragrance, it has a plushness that every time I smell it conjures up a mythical fabric, maybe suede-like, maybe velour, maybe thick cotton, but none of these really. It creates an abstract sensation for me, one of pure comfort. There is a physicality to this scent that means I don't just have a smell, I feel it as though I'm touching something, it becomes an object in my experience.

It's a dry scent, especially if compared to the Intense version which sits on a sweeter base. Maybe this keeps the scent formal as it has a standoffish aspect with this dryness arising from the iris and bitter cacao. This represents the duality of this fragrance, if I am to find one, and it has taken work to find one because it's just so dam smooth it feels almost criminal to take apart the stitching and analyse it. The duality is one of cosy warm comfort simultaneously maintaining a clear distance and boundary, not quite a coldness but rather an assertion of self-control. To draw a further analogy there is an inviting warm heart but also a clear and sharp mind that comes with it.

It looks like the US Dior website isn't even listing the Original anymore and it's just in Europe. Who knows whether it'll last much longer, I hope there's enough demand for it. I understand the appeal and popularity of the intense version but prefer the stark dryness of this one. A masterstroke of perfumery.

Note - the original nose is Olivier Polge. Demachy tweaked it in 2011 to satisfy regulatory changes but didn't change the structure.

2014 Batch Review:
Starts off with a massive blast of Iris, but not the type of iris found in the likes of prada l'homme - this is more of a rounded and less sharp/piercing iris smell - but the dry down is where this superstar really shines. The dry down in homme 2014 is a creamy, powdery, chocolatey smell and It's almost as if you spilled a very dilute (with milk) cup of luxurious nesquik on your skin and wore it for the rest of the day. While this may sound awful for some, the smell is very very pleasant and not overbearing to the point where this could genuinely be worn anywhere and anytime. The projection and longevity of this masterpiece is surprisingly very good. Based off first spray, i wouldn't expect this to last any more than 5 hours with poor projection for the first 30 minutes, but the longevity of it is actually not too bad. I can still smell this on me an hour+ more in the air and becomes a skin scent at around 7ish hours. I'd also like to note that I do sometimes pick up the "makeup bag" smell or "lipstick" smell for about 10 minutes during the duration of this fragrance, but this is no way shape or form something that should turn somebody off. These references are just comparisons, much like the gasoline vibe of Fahrenheit. I too pick up the gasoline smell from farenheit but its a pleasant, wearable gasoline smell - not a bad gasoline smell. This translate very similarly with homme, while yes, the makeup smell is there, it's not a bad smell in anyway - it's almost like its a wearable, pleasant lipstick smell.

Longevity - 7/10

Sillage - 8/10

Scent - 10/10

Overall 9/10

Biggest letdown is that this doesn't last longer :(

Sidenote:
Please pick up vintage bottles while you can! This is an amazing fragrance that i'd recommend to anyone in the fragrance community. While it may not be people's cup of tea, you'll 100% come to enjoy this fragrance and appreciate the uniqueness, It's influence on today's fragrances and the overall artistry involved with creating this masterpiece.

IamdrinkingBeer

Just to get this out of the way - i do find this fragrance masculine. Yes. But this fragrance requires a certain setting to announce its masculinity to others, and that is a formal, suit and tie setting. It's not supposed to be harsh, ruggid and dark, its beauty is in the elegance and maturity, and you already have to be masculine for this fragrance to work.

Now to the scent -smelled it today, and oh boy, this is magic, trust me. Pure, unseen magic that will rarely occur in your fragrance journey, and that should be sign of something great. This fragrance is revolutionary and opulent, especially for the time it was created.

When i first smelled it it smelled like lipstick and i didn't understand what all the fuss was about, no sweetness in it whatsoever. But then, the second stage arrives, lipstick smell goes away, and here you nose will get an orgasm, i swear to you, and your eyes will turn into 2 big red hearts. This is pure joy to wear, and i think i will do it casually, just for myself, cause i really really dig this scent a lot. 10/10, this one is for the history books.

faubel

From a manufacturer's sample vial that is at least a few years old: opens up with the familiar sweet iris accord that is everywhere these days, but I suppose this is where it originated. After an hour or so there's a soapy quality when smelled up close, and some herbal, aromatic notes detectable from a few inches away. (This is based on about half a spray.)

Compared to Valentino Uomo Intense, this one is less sweet and leans more masculine. Not so overtly masculine that I wouldn't wear it. I like a fair amount of men's scents, as long as they are not old school barbershop, ambroxan bombs, or really "blue."

snnalty

I get little bit citrusines in the openin and after iris comes up in most beautiful and bright pleasent way and cacao. When i wear this people around me always mesmeraizing. Just get one bottle and enjoy every thing it gives you.

Marxwick

The best Iris that lives up to the hype. I get more Iris and projections from EDT than Intense 2018 and 2020.
This was worth every premium penny.
If you love the lipstick Iris in Dior Homme and Valentino Uomo Intense, never get Prada L'homme. There is none of that Iris in there.

Rinehart

Dior Homme (original) ... absolute classic! Masculine, refined, elegant, fresh and sweet.
The iris does not come across feminine to me, I even wore this in the summer with jeans and a t-shirt and received compliments. To others it comes across as sweet and stylish.
I do think it is best suited for more smart/casual or dressy evening events. Great projection and moderate longevity. Could also be a signature scent.

kameron

@eaudemale 100% agree. This happens with the new editions produced starting 2020 with "Dior Homme Original" inscription on the box and bottle. Prior editions are far better. I mean the ones inscriptioned with "Dior Homme". It is clear that it has veen reformulated but anyway it is in vain any debate as long as I presume itnis already discontinuated. Under the new name Dior Homme Original can be found very, very hard, it is a poor distribution combined with, maybe, with poor even stopped production. A true gem!

Ahmedtarik701

I just got my hands on this version at last. Bought it from Mazaya (A renowned cosmetics store in the middle east, resembles Sephora) here in Egypt and oh my god!
It's indeed quite something. I had tested the 2020 version a month ago and I really liked it. However, all the reviewers and everyone on the internet was going about how amazing the 2005 and 2011 versions are with their iris notes and lipstick sort of vibe. So I have been looking forever for a bottle. A month went by and by chance the salesperson at Mazaya and told me he's got the last one in storage. According to him, Dior stopped sending this version since they released the new 2020 one. It seems that the fragrance is about to be rarer than it already is because of that. Despite Dior still selling it as the original Dior Homme on their website, it seems lovers of this fragrance (Me included) are in for a good hunt.

My review for it now after testing it plus a weird tip or something that I found lovely.
The sillage is good, my family can smell me all around the flat with ease I'd give it a:9
The projection is very good, 4 hours and my sister still say she can smell me 2 metres apart!: 10
Performance is excellent, 24 hours and I can smell it on my skin and on my clothes of course: 10
It works all year long in my opinion. Going out at night, works!
Going to college or to the office, works!
Going to a formal event or a meeting, you'll be the classiest person in the whole room. So obviously, it works!
You'll enjoy every note in it from the bergamot at the top to the very domineering iris at the middle to the leathery smell at the base. Listen to me, I fell in love with it at first smell!
I sprayed Dior Sauvage Eau De Parfum on my clothes last night and ended up spraying Dior Homme on the same T-shirt and I have to say they make a nuclear bomb! Amazing and works exceedingly well, I say go for it and give it a try.
For snobs just don't bother if you don't like the fragrance.
To me Dior Homme 2011 and probably 2005 are extraordinary!

Andres777

Just got a 2018 batch version of Dior Homme. Maybe I came a little late to the game after having smelled many unisex fragrances and I just don’t understand why people say this perfume smells feminine... This is a beautiful powdery cocoa scent with a slight sharpness, very beautiful and different from a regular freshie.

I am just a little bit concerned with its performance, sits really close to skin.

Dusk

A very distinctive fragrance, that carries the legendary Dior's name. This is a very peculiar fragrance.

As usual, quality ingredients are blended into this designer fragrance, to the point it reaches an almost niche status. Unfortunately, the EdT version carries a light longevity and an almost feminine twist (I am talking of the vintage formula, too).

In a challenge between Homme and Fahrenheit lines, I will always stand with the latter. More audacious and juvenile.

Still, I can easily imagine this fragrance pointing towards a more mature audience.

piyux

Dior Homme EDT opens with a moderate to a strong projection of powdery floral, leather, and spicy gourmand notes. The opening is intense, elegant, powdery, and very pleasant. The iris, leather, and cacao, and prominent opening notes. The iris is a powdery floral note; in this fragrance, the iris comes across as an airy, aromatic, gender-neutral floral note with a touch of purple floral lavender. The leather is next, and although it is listed as a base note, it comes up as soon as the fragrance is applied. This leather is strong but not pungent or animalic, rather aromatic, intense, and projecting. The cacao is the third opening note, evocative of cacao powder or cocoa instead of chocolate. Still, there is some resemblance to chocolate. The iris and cacao make the fragrance feel dry and powdery. The lavender and bergamot are opening brief visiting notes; the bergamot peaks for a brief moment and then dissipates; the lavender stays for a bit longer, but it pales in contrast to the iris, leather, and cacao. As the fragrance commences to dry down, the amber adds a slightly sweet, resinous, and powdery touch. The rest of the notes provide support and remain in the back of the fragrance; they are not as prominent as the featured notes. The fragrance is relatively linear, except for the bergamot and amber, all other notes come up as soon as the fragrance is applied, and they continue into the dry down. Once Dior Homme EDT has reached ifs full dry down, it can be summarized as a moderate to a strong projection, leather, powdery iris, cacao, and ambery fragrance with faint green and lavender accords. The fragrance feels ambery, bold, casual, commanding, dry, elegant, exotic, floral, formal, fresh, gentle, heavy, inviting, leathery, masculine, moderate-quality, modern, nicely-blended, nocturnal, polished, powdery, refined, rich, seductive, and very pleasant.

It may not be the best... it may not be the most valuable and expensive... it may not be for every man.. but it'll always be my favourite.

Het originele recept van dior homme edt heet nu gewoon dior homme original.
Maar voor de fijn proever is er toch een klein verschil tussen de twee.

Ik bezit een oudere batch van 2013 en de (nieuwe) dior homme original en heb ze 1 op 1 vergeleken, als je een goed neusje hebt merk je wel een paar kleine verschillen. dit zijn mijn bevindingen ervan;

Salahuddin Hourani

classy, sexy, very distinguishable, and smells really special, worth its amount of money
wait for few minutes until the perfume settles, and then you will get to its magic
Very versatile also

BackToTheEighties

I have the Dior Homme Original sold through the Dior website in Europe. Reminds me of Guerlain Habit Rouge. I hate Habit Rouge, but al least it has performance. Dior has none, at least on me it doesn't. Turns into a skin scent in less than an hour.

Not my cup of tea.

Won't buy another bottle if I should ever finish this one.

querelle

I just love Dior Homme original blindly, so I’m not really in a position to review it. In love with it since its birth through all its incarnations. Slave to its rhythm..

Jtonmobile

If anybody is wondering if you can still buy this dior is still selling it under the name dior homme original and in fragranticas page for dior homme 2020 it says that dior homme original is supposed to be 2011 dior homme. Though dior homme original is only sold in France, you can get dior homme original from ebay seller topscents. That's where I got my bottle

Fragaddict123

I do not regret getting a 150ml bottle
It’s just worth every penny
A distinctive scent with average longevity

Spasticink

Has anyone tried the latest batch 0M01 with new formula code 13837/A?
Is it still worth it? Thanks!

ManicMonkey84

The first few times I tried this, it gave off an unfortunate "kitty litter" vibe which I have to attribute to the iris note. But after shelving it for a few months and then trying it again, it won me over--it's as if the iris note which previously put me off assimilated into the rest of the scent. Overall, DHCD is very much a "man about town" fragrance that avoids being basic or boring. There is a velvety, full-bodied luxuriousness to this scent that keeps you wanting more. The way in which the iris, bergamot, and lavender come together can only be described as "symphonic" (for whatever reason I don't get any cacao or leather). Probaly best suited for fall/winter evenings, so that when you take off your coat and/or scarf it wafts up to your nose like a secret treat.

TheGuv

Iris iris iris love this 2011 formulation. Bought this version from Debenhams a year ago when the 2020 came out. Luckily I can still buy the edt and Parfum from Dior as I have the entire range except the Cologne as I’m worried that it won’t last more than a couple of hours at best. Buy this blind buy. It’s a perfect Spring/Autumn fragrance for the U.K. at least. Depends on the weather in other countries I guess ?? 10/10 IMO

Dreadnought

The Avatar of men's designer perfume - perfectly balanced. The scent profile is so balanced with a touch of floral, cacao, powder, leather, freshness, sophistication, manliness, and femininity. Not too strong to be harsh to the surroundings' noses, but gentle to the nose of everyone.

I did not like this perfume at first because I thought it's too feminine for me and back then what I want is pure manly scent. However I just noticed that this scent profile (along with Dior Homme Parfum) is well loved by my friends - especially women. One even commented that she don't like a man's perfume which smells like a 'man' and I get it which was why she really loved my scent.

A Kent Kidd

Smells like a more lipsticky, bolder and defined version of Prada L'Homme/Ajmal Evoke Gold. I'll stick with my cheapie AEG.

MoKia

I got a chance to get my hands on a 2014 batch for a good price. Very smooth and well blended, clearly very high quality juice full of character. But the big problem is that it’s too feminine, I prefer to smell it on a woman.

mo choudhury

just got the 2011 version of Dior homme original. 🤗 (0E01)
I got Dior homme intense 2020 last week and now it's got me hunting for the old batches.
( Dior homme intense, Dior homme parfum, I'm coming for you.) 👁️👁️
never had I thought that in just two weeks, Dior homme has become one of my all time favourite.
10/10

edit 23/1/21
I'm guessing this will be more for warmer weather because, it projects, but, just not as much.
but last night it was boiling in my room and I woke up to open the window as I was a little sweaty. and let me tell you, I woke up to an iris bomb! the scent cloud was so thick you could bite into it. I could smell it on my cover and pillow the next morning.
this was just two sprays on my hand and was sprayed 4/5 hours before I went to bed.

edit: 8/2/2021
I now proudly own,
dior homme original 2011.
dior homme intense 2017.
dior Homme parfum 2019.
dior homme sport 2015.
☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️

edit: 16/3/21
a little later but had to finish it off.
but yes, I now have Dior Eau for Men and Cologne to finally complete my Dior Homme collection.
and with it, just to compliment them I've got the old formula of the deodorant stick and spray. shower gel and aftershave balm. same with 2020 release.
I think I can put Dior Homme to rest now.

edit: 22/3/21
put things to rest?.. yeah right.
got the Dior Homme sport 2017 as I was able to snatch a 75ml for £30!!
....and a backup of Dior Homme Original, Eau for Men AND Parfum! but the Parfum is the new 2020 100ml version. so looking forward to testing that along side the 75ml and give you my thoughts.
and since i've come this far I might as well try get a backup bottle of the old batch Dior Homme Intense.

p.s
I totally forgot that Dior Homme 2020 has been added to the collection as well. lol.

edit: 19/09/21
so, of course I was new and there was a lot of confusion going on with the DH line, but now I've learnt. this review is regarding the NEW original 2020.
not 2011 batch.
sorry I just had to come back and correct it since the new original 2020 is now in fragrantica's database.

skans

Heaven in a bottle, my absolute favourite.

Can definitely be worn by women. Matter of fact, I remember when I first smelled Dior Homme. It was in the bus and a woman sat next to me. The sillage around her was so beautiful that I couldn't resist to close my eyes and smile.

This is for the 2011 edt, now rebranded as Dior Homme Original and only available in Europe. Fantastic iris done in a purely masculine style. A more wearable Iris Silver Mist. There is nothing ladylike or lipstick about this. It is the earthy, musky, but still sophisticated, root.

The 2020 Dior Homme is a move towards "safe" scents. It is interesting that even as interest in niche and artisanal perfumes rises, the mainstream is moving towards absolute conformity.

Thomaso7

you get the iris absolut, of course, but what I really like about this fragrance is the greenery, and the slight wiff of patchouli in the mid after a bit. its probably vetiver as well.. the iris is great of course.. Dior's website says its iris absolute. a real smooth comforting scent. like a deep blue cashmere scarf.

i think i read once that dior's signature, is sicilian bergamot, or mandarine orange. i forget. maybe it is not noticable in this, but maybe it is in here faintly someplace, giving a tangyness.

Used up my 1st 100 ML last year and got my second 100 ML right after the 2020 release! This is a classic / modern masterpiece. The elegant creamy citrus lavender opening follows by a creamy sweet ambery yet sophisticated iris with floral scent. You have to have the time to actually savor the most out of this scent. Perfect for a mellow night with Netflix or easy night out without too much distraction. The only downside on this one is it's not versatile enough to be a signature scent, office or not, and the scent tends to be not as great if you wear it regularly.

2015 bottle:

As a female, I love this fragrance. I bought a back up bottle too knowing it’s going to get harder to find.

Leathery iris and cacao! Towards the base start to get more of the amber and vetiver. Strong yet comforting.

There is a debate weather this is masculine/feminine/unisex. It’s interesting to me because when I wear this, people say it leans masculine. When my brother smelled it, he said it’s too feminine. I find that this dilemma makes this fragrance that much more unique and interesting.

This is a straight irisy LIPSTICK-MAKEUP BOMB! I mean this is pure iris to the fullest! The smell reminds me of when I was a child and I smelled my mothers makeup or when my girlfriends lipstick cap came off in her purse.....in the first 2-3 minutes, which is the only segment of this fragrance that could be considered feminine, once it all blends together and drys down its all gentlemanly class & sophistication! The dry-down(where the sweet-spot hits) is quite delicious, with a creamy vanilla & cocoa accord, musk, amber, clean vetiver and a smooth tonka bean. This is a creation one needs to spend time with, leave it alone...come back to it...wear it for a week straight...take a month break, to really understand it and/or appreciate it, not really sure I have after all this time??? But this is amazing every time you wear it, if you only wear it every once in a while. The original EDT is quite mild-to-moderate in performance, close to a skin scent but I feel it was meant to be a sensual fragrance, not a loud beastmode parfum but it does last on skin, I can smell it the next morning. Masterpiece is tossed around in this community A LOT but this one could easily be up for debate and I rarely say that about a scent. Not sure this will make sense but Dior homme 2011 falls in the Love category for me. As I wear this fragrance more and more it starts to fall more and more in the LOVE LOVE LOVE category, as I addictively and constantly smell my arm...wondering wow, this smells deliciously and utterly amazing! I never thought homme would be something I love and wear a lot and just last year homme 2020 would be the fragrance I prefer over the 2 versions, now the 2020 version would just sit and collect dust while the original is something I crave to wear. The new version is totally different btw, something more likable and easy to wear for the US market...a fine fragrance in its own right, more manly, more main-stream, falls in the dumb-reach area, but it really isnt something I would be excited to wear, its nothing I look forward to wearing.

*Edit*
Just received a bottle today from France (Batch code: 0h01 August 2020), labeled Dior homme Original on the bottle and its just as amazing or better than the 2014 bottle I first reviewed! Maybe the freshness? Reformulation? I would even say it leans even more on the masculine side in comparison...a more leathery richness is prominent and the vetiver really pops in this one, the iris note fades just a tad quicker but is still the dominant top note.
So I now have tested, sampled, tried, or revisited 137 fragrances this year (2020), of those 137 frarances only 3 were bottle worthy to me, Dior homme is one of them!

I’m just jumping on with praise to this Masterpiece! Yes that’s what this is. That iris, what ppl describe as lip sticky drew me into the hobby of collecting. I’m so happy to have this and it’s siblings Intense and Parfum. The original edt hit the literal sweet spot as an all around scent of perfection. If you can find a legit copy you might wanna stock up.

NoseE

very familiar Dior dry down. pleasant opening.

JonniePatron

Just got a bottle of the new Dior Homme "Original”. Smells identical to the 2011 thru 2019 formulation. Overall performance is average, just like the 2011 thru 2019. I am happy to have this bottle. Smells amazing like it always has with the iris note.

PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING THE NEW 2020 DH and DHI EDP VERSIONS.
Dior Homme 2011 was my signature scent for spring, summer and fall mainly due to the iris note. There is no bigger fan of this fragrance than me, so please read on....
.... I just picked up the new Dior Homme Intense EDP, which has the same DNA less the chocolate note, less citrus and a cleaner iris note... less of the lipstick bag vibe. In others words, more mass appeaL and less "dated", which is a shame, a very big shame.😔 However I consider it an acceptable replacement (swallowing a dead rat here people) for the DIOR Homme 2011, given the DH 2020 version is now an office sent. It does have better projection and sillage than DH 2011 and it is fresher and more versatile than the original DHI EDT. In other words, the new intense EDP version sits between the two as some sort of neutered reformulation imho 😓
I think the choice now is either get the pre 2020 versions while you still can or move on. Perhaps, like me, you can save your last DH2011 for happy memories of what a truly great scent is suppose to smell like. A bit like the lover I was with during the 2013 to 2018 period. I have very happy memories of that relationship too. Dior has messed with the DNA enough that the intimacy and trust has gone forever.
Upshot... DH 2011 will no longer my signature scent. The DHI EDP 2020 will just be friend i see from time time now.
Rest in peace DH 2011, thank you for the memories 😢

desert5555

This is my favorite perfume from the entire collection. I really expected the cold to wear it again. I get regular good complimets on this fragrance. Excellent longevity and sillage. Very elegant and attractive. I have 8+ hours of longevity and a moderate sillage

BATCH REVIEWED: 5X01 (2015)

Damn this is good. Elegant but you can dress it down a little bit too. Signature scent worthy, because it can be whatever you want it to be. Yes, it leans more to the colder weather, but it also has some subtle freshness to it given by the bergamot and the patchouli. Dior definitely knew what they were doing with this fragance back in the day.

Hsnezz

does anyone know if the Dior Homme EDT listed on fragrancenet is the original or 2020 version? I bought DHI after being told it was the original (pre-2020 formulation), and after seeing the photo listed of the pre-2020, but was still sent a new formulation bottle. Please let me know if anyone has info on the current dior homme listed on fragrancenet and whether it is the new 2020 (no iris) formulation or if it is the traditional version with iris.

aspirina

I got this perfume for myself. I am a very feminine woman and adore this scent. However, it is painfully expensive and there are so many scents that combine iris with leather..for example..good old Shalimar...hey guys if you love this, just go ahead and buy Shalimar. Then you will have a terrific orris/Iris plus leather with additional vanilla, bergamot and benzoin.
I suspect Shalimar is the grandmother of this scent...

dmoond

A great clean and original fragrance undone by its total lack of longevity. A certain kind of girl loves the smell of this fragrance, probably the kind that also loves John Mayer. Pass, unfortunately.

fragmented7

I have a 2018 bottle and I just got the new 2020 "original" formulation, not the new 2020 reform version, and I am happy to report that they smell for all intent and purpose identical.

Projection seems a bit weak, but smell is excellent.

VanillaBoy

One of the few "male" fragrances I actually love. It's androgynous, mysterious, dark and chic. A masterpiece.

I still have one from 2012 and it's heaven. Insane longevity and sillage. Literally lasts until you take a shower and it stays on your clothes until you wash them. I have no idea if they reformulated it but I'll be sad if they did.

Isomies

I tought I was ordering an original EDT (2011 edition), but arrived was the new 2020 "the Bee"-edition. The start scent of frag is very classic, very common scent of the classical cologne (not citron, but very pleasant). On the wrest the longevity is very long and very pleasant in deed, even in the next morning! I think this is super quality new Homme, for these days! I'm also happy for the re-release of the original Homme edt "original"!

FreddyK

Legend. Nothing else to add.

js71

I bought a 2020 bottle of homme original and love the scent but disappointed yet again with performance, for the cost, these companies should really stop ripping us off with scents that are not worth wearing,i had a break from collecting as i was fed up of wasting money on weak scents, this has convinced me to take more interest in other hobbies yet again. Its a shame.

PureLog5777

My husband wears this and I absolutely love it. It's a sexy, inoffensive masculine scent. Perfectly appropriate for a daytime, workplace setting, but encourages "private moments" as well. It's woody and warm, kind of floral, very delicious. I can't get enough sniffs of this stuff! More "I'm sexy & have nothing to prove," than your usual overpowering, assertive (nose-rapey) men's cologne.

dglightblue

Classic, gorgeous, woody ish frescitrus, not too dry

Kevinpar

I personally have the vintage 2008 bottle and 2015 bottle. The iris note is dominant on both but the vintage bottle is more fresh, more masculine and the notes are blended nicely whereas the 2015 bottle smells more feminen to me and sweeter.

Performance is about the same on both about 6-7 hours longevity with 2 hours of projection.

Somehow i get more compliments when i use vintage bottle. Women seems to like this fragrance more then men. I do not like iris note but on this one i love it. If you can find a vintage bottle just get it.

Saad48

Great smell, disappointing performance, after around 90 minutes of application it is barely detectable on my skin. Really sad and disappointed.

Still Charming (Francois Demachy, 2011)

Bottle Design: Tsutomu Kiyama

Scentrack: Francis Lai- A Man And a Woman (instrumental)

Even after reformulation Dior Homme still possesses its edge. Some of first formulation charm is lost; the iris-dry fruit-ambery nuances are gone and some weight is lost. The reformulated version is slightly thinner and cleaner. Strong Earl Grey bergamot, clean aromatic lavender, powdery iris and herbal sage notes in opening. The mid and base are full of cacao bean, amber and specific chocolate-like sexy undertone. Demachy's version is more masculine, with better performance on my skin. However I still prefer the dry fruit aquarelle of the original, but can't complain about newer version. It's still so charming, sexy and nouvelle.

It’s still possible to find great things in department stores, it just gets harder by the minute.

This is a fragrance in the same spirit as Habit Rouge—proof that smelling feminine is all in the mind.

It doesn’t shout, but it sticks around for most of a work day. Reapply if you’ve got a meeting with the C suite at 4.

This smells like heaven! Total crowd pleaser, decent longevity, and totally safe for office environment. Nobody will ever complained when you wear this perfume. You can never go wrong with this or its flanker Dior Homme Intense. Those are the safest blind buy for Men. Don't be intimidated with lipsticky note, it only lasts for a short while before the magic of powdery vanilla happens. I've kept this one and DHI on my rotation for almost 4 years now. It's my go to perfume whenever I'm not sure what to wear.

Zetamamman

I was never into this one, bought and sold a couple of bottles over the years. But, of course now that it's discontinued, it smells fantastic on my skin. Or could it be that I'm in a very warm, sunny room and my skin is warm, for once? The iris is less cold, the cocoa more prominent. Love that it's not sweet!

drnawfeltoumi

Hello,
If i had to choose between 150ml DH from 2014 and DHI 100ml from 2019? What should I choose? In term of scent and performance (is DH 2014 a good performer batch ?)

iris is what i like the most from DH line and mind that i already have DHP.

Having both DHI and DH would be good yes, but I can only go with one right now.

Thanks, stay home, stay safe.

specializedj

On my skin, I get an overdose of warm amber mixed harmoniously with the elegant iris.

Warm, cozy and just shows off the simplicity of elegance.

In my opinion, this can be worn both casually and formally, both day and night. It shows off its different facets when you wear it in different times of the day, that’s the magic of master perfumery.

Sam_1998

Dior Homme is simply an art, this is more than a designer fragrance and it's not just a good smelling fragrance you wear to get compliments, This is a magic potion that masterfully created to show us what the art of olfactory system is. Dior homme make me feel i'm in a noir movie, that lipstick smell in most of dior homme flankers is something unique and mysterious and I absolutely love it. A fragrance that every gentleman who loves himself and wants to be loved should own.

hellogoddag

The modern seducing scent for men
Groundbreaking and has been an inspirational source for many fragrances since.

It's leathery and sprinkled with cacao powder
Still it has some masculine crisp woody edges that especially show their faces in the base.

Sophistication level is about max
Waxy, leather pursy, beauty boxy

masonjarjar1969

One of the few fragrances in my collection that I could see wearing as a daily driver or even signature. It has the right amount of everything.. fresh, floral, sweet, powder and leather. Held off buying because I wasn't sure it would be right for me, but I have no complaints now that I've added it to my collection.

C.P.71

just stopped by to say that this is not discontinued,,,,its gonna be renamed Dior Homme Original....so dont have a stroke! lol

raiza1990

Elegant, powdery, waxy and slightly sweet with a subtle freshness at the opening. It's an interesting fragrance. Different from the usual offers for men. It is mature and classy. A good choice for a gentleman in his 50's.
If you are looking for a soft and sensual scent, try this.
Final Note : 8/10

LordAventus

I've loved this fragrance since release. I personally like the reformulation, but I can certainly understand people's preference for the original silver-collar formula. I've been wearing Homme Parfum for around 5 years or more, but this is the best everyday wear of the collection for me.

I can't stress how lovely this is. That powdery iris with patchouli makes this such a unique smell, it's one of the few modern fragrances with a truly unique and instantly recognisable scent. I've used this fragrance as an aftershave balm for years, and I'll continue to use it for years again.

If you're looking for the run of the mill spicy/pepper bomb fragrance EDT that so many people worship, sorry guys this isn't gunna fit the bill. But if you want a masculine yet soft floral scent with depth and a moderate projection, this may well be your best choice.

In a world of Bleu de Chanel and Boss Bottled, be the Dior Homme.

*** . **EDIT** when I say REFORMULATION in this review, I'm referring to the 2011 Homme, not 2020- that's a complete and utter trainwreck of a juice!! ***

u46esp

I made a HUGE mistake of trying it out for the sake of entertaining my own curiosity.

I instantly fell in love with it and want to get more out of this. Can't stop sniffing my arm throughout the whole of the day. The sad part is that it's going to get harder to find :-(

Yassine

i have the 2019 batch.. the scent is beautiful but with like no projection it still as a skin scent for couple of hours then it's gone..
too bad it was one of the best for years

Pi1980

Fragrance_Amateur

My bottle is from 2018, and I just don't get that "lipstick" smell people talk about. To me, this fragrance is just beautiful powdery iris. This can be pulled off in formal and casual settings in my opinion, but it all comes down to how you dress. This scent is very light (light as in easy on the nose, not talking about projection) so it will be unlikely to assault anyone's nose. Smells very similar to Dior Homme Eau, almost identical, but perhaps it's just because of the iris note. This is definitely a must-own. Blind buy worthy in my opinion.

WerewolfDon

This is by far one of my favorite fragrances of all time. It’s just so perfectly blended, very well balance and oozes class and sophistication, it’s a very magical fragrance to me. It’s sweet, sexy, and really creamy type of fragrance that every time I wear it it screams a very professional vibe the type of person I can see wearing this fragrance is Simon Baker a true gentlemen with a very high class and very out going, and elegant. This makes me happy with a smile every time I wear this it’s just a very balance fragrance and I just feel this modern French classy, pretty boy, well groom, business casual aura every time I wear this. This is a 10/10 a lot of people really like this on me and how it acts on my skin. This is my first ever review on this website I would appreciate feed back from people thanks guys.

greekbasil

It is not being sold at dior. It says webpage not found

Bbjr

The NEW Dior and Dior Homme intense are currently being sold in Chicago. Not Europe exclusive.

Brendan117

They are most likely in the middle of changing the name, I see that it still sais Dior homme on your regions website, it should say Dior homme original. So I’d say they have taken it down to change the name.

Brendan117

It is on the Dior website as “Dior homme original”

greekbasil

Nvm. It’s back

greekbasil

Idk what to believe. It is NO longer on the door website :(

JanneMan45

Is Dior Homme original going to be the original formulation.....should be, that's the original!

Brendan117

Heifrank, well said. It doesn’t take long to do you own research. I feel bad for all the ppl that went and wasted money on back up bottles because they were misinformed. Dior homme 2011 ain’t going anywhere. All the youtubers that supplied this fake news should apologise for not doing their own research and jumping to conclusions. Dior just made a shit tonne of money!!

Heifrank

Youtubers such as Max Forti and Redolessence (and more) have misinformed their viewers and stated that Dior Homme 2011 is discontinued and replaced by the 2020 version. They have also suggested people to go out and buy backups. With a very short research on Fragrantica and /or Dior’s website they would have found that Dior 2011 will continue to be found on the shelves as Dior Homme Original:

«The 2011 edition remains on the shelves under the name, Dior Homme Original.» Fragrantica

In other words, just a rebranding. People are upset because of youtubers’ rumours. Such large channels should be more responsible of what they communicate to their audience. Be critical of your sources of information. Go to legit sources and not youtubers who wants clicks and rush to be the first with the (fake) news, which obviously has led to chaos among fragrance lovers.

A common sentence on FB is Dior Homme RIP, but according to Fragrantica the beautyful coca, leather, iris are still alive.

Brendan117

Juiceman... this information is incorrect! They are not discontinuing Dior homme, they will be changing the name to Dior homme original. Don’t make ppl go bonkers over false info.

Juiceman 0331

Better buy your Dior Homme/Intense and Parfum. It’s official they are getting discontinued and listen to this, the replacements will not have iris, leather and cacao. Look up Gent Scents uploaded video 12/29/19 and he discussed new colognes that are coming out. If you enjoy this better buy a back up bottles now before greedy people will jack up the prices on Ebay. The only thing I hope they change is bringing back the ginger in Dior Homme Sport, because the latest one didn’t have the ginger that has been a signature of Sport and the current one smells just like a regular citrusy summer cologne and it was trash compared to the 2012 Dior Homme Sport with ginger and iris.

redsn4pper

I wear this as my daily scent now. It is versatile, intimate, and uplifting. It is for the beautiful, sensitive, and artistic person with a passion for the good things in life.

lemale83

Stunningly beautiful. Fresh iris opening is breathtaking and uplifting. It’s easily a 10/10 fragrance in my book. Smell amazing, versatile, complex yet appealing, sophisticated, quality is on par with niche, above average performance, great price. What else you can ask for.. I don’t know why it took me very long to see the beauty of this masterpiece.

I know most of us here prefer Dior Homme Intense over Dior Homme, but I’m among the minority, I love original Dior Homme much more than Intense. Intense goes more in to gourmand direction during the dry down while original Dior Homme managed to maintain the beautiful iris note till the end.

FragChronic

Hey, I just smelled this at The Bay and the bottle and packaging is new, different than my bottle at home,.....guess what folks, it's been dramatically reformulated.
I thought I was smelling Sport for a second , had to go back and look at the bottle. They have added citrus to lighten and modernize it and reduced the iris , will have to go back and take a closer look.

AmericanCologneGuy

bart4543: I’m sorry, but you were given false information.
(And seriously, not trying to be a jerk at all.)
Dior Homme is totally overhauled and not at all the same scent.
It’s not bad, but completely unrecognizable as Dior Homme. It’s more like Coach for Men collides with Sauvage. That being said, it’s better than Coach, and it’s better than Sauvage. The iris note that made DH what it was-is gone.
Not at all bad, but a radical departure. I think the original was more “top shelf” than the new one.

junior halston

You are absolutely correct, the new Dior Homme will officially launch in January 2020. This not the first time Dior has revamped a pillar brand to be more in line with current times and style. This new scent is really a great achievement from the master Demachy. A fresh woody and leathery, I like that Dior is not afraid to radically embrace change.

bart4543

For my fellow dior homme lovers rest assure i have good news. This version will continue to be sold. I saw the packaging today. It is now called Dior homme original. The formula and packaging and bottle are all the same with the exception of the word original inserted at the bottom of dior homme label on the bottle. This will always be the OG babe

17seyed

Finally got my nose on the new formulation. Fully agree with everything @Esscential said about it. I'll make some comments of my own:

This is not a innovation from the ground up like the original Dior Homme was with it's use of lipsticky iris and cacao in a men's fragrance.

Instead, this is more of a reinvention from Dior. A reinvention of the dreaded sweet bubblegum genre. The opening has that green, fresh bergamot with a little bit of that syrupy bubblegum sweetness, which serves as the undertone for the bergamot and not the main player. I was slightly disappointed with the opening, especially coming from the masterpiece that was the original DH.

HOWEVER, the dry down of this one takes Dior Homme 2020 and propels it to the front of the best men's designer fragrances. I like this one more than the old formulation, yeah I said it.

The dry down is the most beautiful blend of cedarwood, earty vetiver, and multiple kinds of musk because there's definitely a clean floral nuance to the dry down.

If the original Dior Homme presented a new man to the fragrance world, the new Dior Homme brings a man that people already know, but takes him out of his derivative and uninspired drab clothes, and puts him in a masterfully crafted bespoke suit.

I'll cherish my DHI for whenever I crave that gorgeous iris, but I cannot wait to get my hands on a full bottle of this one.

esscential

Yes, the new box has a bee on the front

esscential

@Max the previous poster hit the nail on the head.

Shauryadhand

@Max van de k Yes, the packaging is different too. There's a huge 'Dior Homme' branding on the cap for the new one. They also made the glass less thicker than the previous one.

esscential

I purchased it today. Radically different from the previous iterations, but in the best way possible. Certainly deserves a separate entry on Fragrantica. Dior is always ahead of the curve and the new Homme is nothing short of spectacular.

The new Dior Homme is earthier, greener (yes, really) and more well-rounded, and perhaps a bit more youthful (in an Ivy League sort of way) while maintaining its sophisticated integrity. If this sets the standard for men's fragrances going into 2020, we're in for a great decade.

Scent: 5/5. This will take time. The note breakdown is much simpler than the one we're used to, but it works. I detect a lot of vetiver. Replace the powdery Iris with a musky accord. No cacao or leather to be found. It's clear that Sauvage's success has radically changed Dior's target demographic, especially if the rumors of Fahrenheit's discontinuation turn out to be true.

Also, for what it's worth, I recall the sales rep's cheat sheet clearly mentioning "chypre" in the note breakdown description (when mentioning the vetiver, if I remember correctly, could be oakmoss though).

Longevity: 5/5. Maybe 6-7 hours. I sprayed it on my skin hours ago, and it's still working overtime. Will edit my post in the morning.

Sillage: 5/5. Hard to prove right now, but I consistently got good whiffs of it while shopping.

All in all, I'm impressed by the new direction of Dior Homme.

jovejove

Official Ingredients for new Homme;

Top: bergamot, pink pepper, elemi
Heart: Atlas Cedar, patchouli heart
Base: musks, Haitian vetiver

Again, bye bye to the Iris note

jovejove

For the new one coming; say bye bye to the Iris... 8/

If you love this, it’s still going to be kept on for now, but like with Miss Dior Cherie and Miss Dior, the new Dior Homme will be labelled as Dior Homme and this one above will be Dior Homme Original (for now). Eau is gone :(

Pinja

17seyed, thank you for the information. Guess we can expect amped up gourmand notes, ambroxan, more pear and loads of almond.

bfrasier68

Reminiscing about the sexiest men’s fragrances. In my opinion, this and Jil Sander Feeling Man make up my short list. Bought both for exes and remember how intensely amazing these smelled on them.

17seyed

This is being reformulated on January 2020.

I'm a Dior skincare specialist in Canada and our regional manager informed us in a recent training that Dior Homme will be relaunched as the main mens fragrance promoted by Dior (giving Sauvage a break) in January 2020. Part of the campaign is a newly formulated Dior Homme where according to her, nearly 50% of the ingredients are changing.

If you're a fan of Dior "updating" their fragrances, it's a good time to be excited lol.

If you don't like Dior's reformulation, now would also be a good time to stock up on the current Dior Homme.

PilotJames

This is a fragrance for the iris-lovers - of which I am one of them. Iris is a delicate floral which can come across as feminine, which is why this fragrance has a reputation for being quite unisex/feminine despite it’s name. However, when blended right, iris can work so well as a masculine scent. Not as a loud macho scent, but a polite yet self-assured scent.

Because it’s delicate, iris is all too easy to muddy when blending it with other notes. By the time you get to the Parfum flanker, the work of art has been spoiled. The EdP version is still recommendable, but in this version the Iris really sings those high notes as long as it lasts. And it lasts a fairly long time for an EdT, although I did douse myself in it at the perfume counter this morning for this evening’s review.

It’s quite divine, but it’s unusual for a mainstream designer flagship; don’t wear this for other people, they likely won’t care a jot for it. If it matters to you, they may even think you smell like a woman.

8/10

miles178

smells like 2,5 mm of make-up on a skin .. overly powdery iris
good if you wanna smell gay-ish ..
Freddie Mercury would have surely liked it.
ideal for type of Mozart/wig make-up men in theatrical role !!!!
not practical as an everyday masculine scent in the temperature over 10°C

jazsi

Perfect in every way.

alabangcute

Oh my. I bought this before trying it on my skin and now I smell like lipstick! Had I known, I would have bought SAUVAGE PARFUM! LOL.

Alfredo021

I tried it today and oh boy. I'd give the smell like 9/10. It smells a lot like Homme intense, but it's not as strong. I get why some people say it smells feminine, it being so gentle, but I really don't mind that. And the sprayer is amazing.

Dior Homme is the greatest masterpiece of Dior, although not the most hyped in the fragrance community, fortunately.

Its magic resides in its rendition as an "Adagio espressivo" and not as the "Vivace fortissimo" that prevails in some of its most famous flankers.

Dior Homme was the fragrance that initiated a new paradigm of sophistication for men, being copied multiple times by major brands and designers.... Even within Dior's own brand.

So yes, It has started a new fragrance trend which is characterized by the use of Iris - instead of Ambroxan -. Oddly, the "fragrance snobs" still don't call that line of derivative formulas: "Generic" - and there are dozens of them, now -; the only certain thing is that none of that "inspired fragrances" has achieved the perfection of Dior Homme. The success of some of these flankers and copies lies in what they offer, which is specifically more "loudness" ... And we live in a world where being "more" seems better.

... But that is not always true, and the resulting side effect in them is the loss of many, many nuances and the "musical degradation of the perfect score": Magic has never been in the iris note and no, elegance isn't a "lipstick vibe".

On the other hand, there's a legend that Dior Homme smells feminine and is absolutely false; I recognize that the initial note of iris can disorient when you smell it in a tester, for the first time. Right... But it doesn't smell feminine when you wear it: Dior Homme is exactly the scent of a modern gentleman.

What is possible, is that you have to wear a proper look... Maybe it'll give that feminine vibe to a bearded biker, full of tattoos, skewers, leather and chains... But that doesn't happen if you wear a business suit. Or a Tuxedo. Be confident, you can be sure.

... And if I remember correctly, Christian Dior never was a designer that made fashion for bearded bikers.

I have to say at this point that IMHO, Dior Homme Intense is much more feminine than Dior Homme. Yes, it's "louder", but so is the "lipstick & powdery vibe" and the iris note, which is much more isolated and sharper. It loses the audacity of the citrus accompaniment and is sheltered in a dominant and sweeter cocoa base, which loses its "dry" and woody nuances; the result is a great fragrance, no doubt - it has the DNA of the original - but more feminine, loud and coarse. And something similar happens with Dior Homme Parfum.

Instead, the original Dior Homme balances the iris, bergamot, laverder and sage notes with master precision, making them part of a perfect olfactory harmony; this section of the scent is clean, fresh and refreshing.... Pure boldness and elegance.

Then, this section is padded with the notes of cocoa and amber, in a sparkling and warm creaminess... While the vetiver, patchouli and leather begin to be heard, softly, in the piece... As a "crescendo amabile" full of sensuality, that grows to complete the perfect symphony.

... To conclude the analogy with its "prodigal flankers" (DHI & DHP), I would say that Dior Homme is like listening to the Vienna Symphony Orchestra in a magnificent auditorium, and its flankers are like a modern pop group performing at Madison Square Garden with a large section of strings (hired by the record company...).

Now:

- Longevity: > 8h (skin & clothes).
- Projection: Moderate.
- Mood: Confident, elegant, gentlemanly... Bold and classy.
- Scenario & Occasions: From business to formal events and nights, all year round (except days of extreme heat).

Conclusion: A unique creation, the first and true star of the show.

A very nice fragrance and an all time classic. To me, Dior Homme was a big game changer. While I prefer the formulation before 2011 (I still own 2 bottles), I still enjoy this very very much. It's a 10 out of 10 to me. The vintage one was beyond numbers to me. I think what I prefer less on the current one is mainly the more prominent leather note, the old one was softer, I guess more Iris.

Anyway, things change and I am still very thankful that Dior created this masterpiece.

Okay so I had DHI for the last 6 years. Silly young me kept it in the bathroom so it started to deteriorate (smells too alcohol-y without the lavender top note) so I was thinking: I used 50 ml out of 100 ml in the last 6 years. In my opinion, DHI is not really versatile and it kinda demands you to be dressed up formally. So I was thinking let's check out DH. And. Oh. My. God. I was wrong the whole time.. This smells way more balanced, smooth with much less iris. It's sillage/projection is less than DHI but the notes are blending together way better... Also it is more versatile. I think I'll have to get rid of 50 mls of DHI as it is not pleasant smelling anymore and I am going to buy this as replacement.

Edit: I am experiencing that in many cases (there are several exceptions though!) the original fragrance is the best smelling one, not any of the flankers.

Fantastic performance. After greeting a friend, she told me I smelled wonderfully of sage and cacao 9 hours after applying, crazy!

The iris stays just enough not to be overwhelming, after 20-30 minutes it starts fading away and becomes more of a gourmand with the cacao and amber taking over. It's such a beautiful drydown with the sage, patchouli and leather surrounding the cacao and iris.

Rather formal, I avoid it in warmer weather mostly due to its opening. Not the most versatile but a wonderful, classy fragrance.

I heard from a rep that there's a new Dior Homme coming in January. Hopefully not replacing this one, although I see limited stock of it on a few sites I've checked.

Opens with a leathery, earthy clay scent that is reminiscent of Hermes Terre. Then the floral notes become more and more evident, definitely powdery floral, a bit like Armani code in that way. When it finally settles on its last transformation, it does have a bit of bite to it where the cacao lives.

If viewed in its totality, it reminds quite a bit of YSL's La Nuit.

The drydown in this parfym for me is absolutely amazin i get some sweet notes.longevity is also very good in this edt it would be perfect scent if it smells all the time like drydown but im not big fan of the first sprays too powdery . I had the bottle few years ago and i think is had get more better and strong now. Have get compliments wearin this .only use it in special occasions and dates if it smells like drydown all the time it could be my all the time favourite fragrance

Beautiful Fragrance! This fragrance just IS and smells lovely. Sexless Fragrance. It is soft waxy Iris, Lavender, and Suede. I received a compliment where the person told me I smell like books when I walked over to her lol. They said I smelled so good.I'm a lady and the woman who complimented me described an old library from the 80's with tons of wood and old vintage books that are well cared for. She said she imagines sitting at a library table and creaking open a book and smelling that distinct smell. It's clean, powdery and ancient lol Turns out the woman is my aunt in her 50's :).I get the best compliments from my family. Everyone Enjoy it!! I'd love to smell this on a man the smell changes with a man's chemistry.
