This place is really out of the way!!! But way worth the drive-in. That's right, there's is no other way to get here, no bus no MRT, not sure taxi will be willing to bring you in.
Let's talk food! We ordered starters, Chessy Fries and Onion Bloom were very good. The meats here are great. Very tasty indeed! Tender and well marinated:
* Righteous Ribs
* Ribeye Steak
* Lamb Rack
* Fish & Chips
* Beef Short Ribs
Special mention to the BBQ hot wings as they have 3 levels of heat: Low, High and Sudden Death. We only tried Low and High. Low was already a fiery mouthful of wings. High was the choke-in-the-sauce kind of hot and yes, it's really hot. We were quite happy to not have ordered their Sudden Death as we already struggled with the High heat ones.
The surroundings are completely open and rustic, but clean! That's awesome! The night we went, it's was balmy and there was a slight chill in the wind. Too amazing! Definitely will bring other friends here!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jieyi H.Singapore, Singapore10946319Apr 19, 2014
I think the highlight of this place, other than the decor, is the inaccessibility. I went there at night, didn't manage to spot any bus stop nearby. The stretch of road leading in reminds me of Lim Chu Kang Rd. Just nice a car width wide for each direction. There is a sign "Handlebar" just outside the car park. When I got off, I still wasn't sure if I have gotten the right place because the surrounding is Water Venture.
This place is open air. Located by the sea where I can see lights from Johor on the other side. Breezy and quiet place to dine. The server sat us at the bench at the outdoor area. It was lighted with a huge spotlight and thus the weird bluish light effect on my food picture.
I almost ordered their Sudden Death wings but I figured that I didn't want to die so young so my friend and I settled for one level lower. Very very spicy yet enjoyable since I love spicy stuffs. Plump red sexy lips was the after effect. Other dishes we ordered were pork loin chop, chicken sausage, grilled chicken burger. The pork was not bad. Well marinated with the grilled taste. The rest was okay.
I really like their chillax ambiance but definitely cant head back alone anytime soon. Unless I have a car.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Jadyte J.Singapore, Singapore792213Feb 5, 2016
2 stars. Very sad.
1 star for Ambience, 1 star for Food (Grudgingly). No stars for Service, Price and "Will I come back?"
This very isolated beer / food place is really hard to access. Maybe that's the charm. Mostly outdoor sitting and some indoor tables. Very exciting drive too. Perfect for a horror movie starting scene, you know the one; Long winding single lane road with no lighting.... not a soul in sight.
Service is ok. Strangely the younger male servers were slightly friendlier than the more experienced female servers.
Little things like, ensuring we had cutlery for food or asking if we wanted more drinks did not happen. Or even a SMILE or a pleasant greeting would be nice. Nope, didn't happen.
Hard to catch the server's attention as they were usually facing the food station or avoiding eye contact.
Our group of four were trying hard to be pleasant, but it is difficult to engage with service staff who do not want to.
We ordered from the menu without much help offered. I know, we're adults. Do we need help ordering? Yes. I had questions.
Food came after a long while. We had to wait before everyone was served. Nothing was great. Everything was ok. (Fine, I'll give a star for food.)
Possibly a tiny gleam of happiness is that they serve cider here.
Price - Ok for beers and cider. Too expensive for mediocre food and serving size.
"Will I come back?" - Not unless I get dragged here.
No pics, I just wasn't bothered. Meh.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jim D.Singapore, Singapore27141130Oct 26, 2012
Have visited the Handlebar many times now having discovered the location by accident walking our dogs. The first time we ate here the service was slow (It was a Saturday night). After talking to the owner we gave it a second chance. So glad we did that. Great food and a great selection of beers. The decor is fantastic with an attention to detail that is staggeringly good. Take a walk through the bar and look at all the details from the Mustang pool table to the gas powered blender.
The location is very hard to find, but patience will be rewarded.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrea R.Houston, TX45138238Aug 30, 2015
This is a very cool bar! It reminds me of dive bars at home, but was cleaner and way better Decore. Excellent design motif using parts of motorcycles and cars. Even the pool table is an old Chevy! Menu is exactly what is find in the U.S. Great jalapeño poppers, wings are not the traditional buffalo wings you find, but they do have the spiciness right.
Drink menu is good and goes beyond the Tiger/Heineken that is usually in Singapore. Also offer house with and nice list of spirits. Best part is the music. Johnny Cash sinking at Folsom Prison??!! YES!
Now it's a bit tricky to find its in the back to the left of the Water Sports training facility in Sembawang. Only complaint is that it's a bit far from those of is that live in Holland/ Orchard area. But if you want to have a beer and a nice view of Malaysia/Straits Of Singapore, this is a relaxing place to hang.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Hongyao Z.Singapore, Singapore52939Feb 28, 2016
Wonderful ambience, next to the sea.. Real refreshing especially when there is a breeze. Place has a "backyard BBQ" concept of dining which suits me perfectly! Service could improve but I'm cool with it. What's good on the menu? Everything!! But my personal favourite is the ace burger and their fish and chips!

Good wings and beer. I was hyped because I heard lots good things about this place but it was a bit of a hike for me to get there lol
Once there I was happy tho. Very cool decor (although too new looking) and nice wings. Not really American style wings but the flavour was there
If you like wings and you dont mind travelling a bit outside city central then check it outHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - April G.O‘ahu, HI57153Aug 28, 2014
Mediocre food and terrible service. I really can't stress how awful the waitstaff is here. I've been here a few times and I've almost starved to death on each occasion. Eat dinner before you eat here!
That being said, the atmosphere is phenomenal. The decor is so fun and creative. I definitely recommend walking around and checking everything out. Totally worth it.
The place itself is also very nice. Its very spread out and quiet, so its a nice break from typical Singapore. This is a great restaurant to hang out with friends and relax for a while.
So despite the terrible service (really really terrible service), the atmosphere makes this a restaurant to at least try once.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Eric C.Singapore, Singapore24270274Aug 19, 2012First to Review
I came here with my friends to enjoy some good beer and company. This place gave me a very cosy and clean feeling.
First of all, we had the onion loaf, which was really good. It is basically a single large onion cut to give it volume. The steak and eggs were very well done as well. We also ordered buffalo wings, and the more adventurous of us decided to opt for the devilish version. Bad decision! Some of my friends were basically tearing their eyes out while the rest of us were laughing like crazy.
Overall, this is a great place to hang out, even though it is indeed in a very remote part of Singapore.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - United S.Singapore, Singapore013Aug 27, 2016
I think this should be called a tourist spot. Nice view, secluded, away from any sight of yucky high rise building, good food, beer.... good for a weekend getaway
