Positive Reviews of Cuiron by Helmut Lang

Cuiron became my reference leather before i could try the vast field - a handicap i do not mind one bit! The interplay of plum, the leathers and (could it be) musk is something else entirely. Will buy it at whatever price.

I first smelt this when it came out and have to say I hated it then! I thought it was far to old for me and just smelt wrong.Recently though I was trying another fragrance (can't remember what it was!) and It had a smell of leather to it and i loved that leather not, but not the rest of it!I was then reminded again of this scent on here and was luckily able to get a decently priced one on ebay (risky but luckily I have a real one)I think that now that I am beginning to appreciate different fragrances I can see the beauty of this and absolutely love it! I have only wore it twice and have already had loads of complements (Even the 3 year olds that I teach love the smell of it and have commented!)

I am so angry that I missed the boat on this one. I recently got a 1mL sample and it is by far one of the most pleasant fragrances I've ever experienced. Clean and dirty at the same time. The prices for this now are absolutely ridiculous compared to what they were. I guess I'll just have to pay them...because I do like it enough to pay 80 bucks for a bottle. I put it on before going out with a few friends and I've never gotten so many compliments and so much attention from females because of a fragrance. It just oozes confidence. Sure its a bit modern but I think if it hadn't been discontinued it would eventually be a timeless classic. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to try to get this rather comely creature to quit hugging the pillow I slept on last night and get something to eat...

There's not much to add by way of the glowing reviews on which I bought Curion blind. I may be the last lucky person to find this at suggested retail cost, because the site I bought it from is now sold out.Knowing what I know now, I would definitely pay the $80-$120 asking price to keep an extra bottle on hand. I have a feeling Curion, which is already a cult classic, will be impossible to find for less than hundreds of dollars within a couple years.

An amazing fresh leather with a fruity/floral note that comes across as rose/neroli. Very good but I still like Eau Sauvage Fraichuer Cuir for my leather fix.

An unusual, fresh leather scent, with different takes on leather combined into a smooth progression from fresh, through spicy, to woody-ambery notes with a hint of tobacco. The levels are knit together by a chypré theme with bergamot in the top and an amber-leather labdanum taking the place of oakmoss in the base. The impression is one of seamlessness and overall elegance. It cries out for cool or cold weather. It clings to one like a second skin, but is not a skin scent; i. e., it has a decent projection and sillage. Enveloping, warm, plush, comforting.

Echo the leather comments of other reviewers. Smells like the bottle looks: dark, musky, interesting without being too clever. Not too heavy, however. Similar to Kiehl's Musk, in packaging and fragrance. Used to be cheap on certain websites. Now through-the-roof costly.

Let me first say that this is not your father's leather scent. Nor is it your mother's. And it's not "English" or "Spanish". Cuiron exists without distinction or comparison. It can only be categorized as the best leather ever created, up there with the finest scents ever known to man. Happiness would be a window-less, poorly ventilated room with only a bottle of Cuiron to keep you company. The scent opens with a dark plum and pepper that is neither fruity or sharp. Gradually, the leather starts to grab hold, like a leather glove on a cold day. Leather here is manly yet never overpowering. More of a new leather jacket smell than a worn one. But in reality, that jacket never smelled this good. Musk slowly creeps into the picture to finish off this potion. When it ends, don't be surprised to find yourself reaching for another spritz. This stuff is addictive. Don't say I didn't warn you!

Cuiron. My favorite leather. I admit that I have rather limited experience with the category, but still. Wow!Absolutely nothing smells remotely like it, and very few people wear it. In most cases this means that a fragrance is abstract and difficult to relate to. Not so with Cuiron. It's warm and inviting, yet clean and crisp. It's constantly there, but never overbearing. People love it on me. It's wearable in every season. I see this as the very definition of a great signature scent. The top is strong and can sting the nostils somewhat, but the plum (which is hard to actually ideantify as plum, but there is definitely a fresh note there) is reassuring and keeps things grounded. After that, you're left with a dry, subdued, manly leather aroma that refreshes, surprises, and lends confidence in equal parts. It's a bit linear after the first hour, but I wouldn't want it to change anyway. 10/10, my favorite fragrance at the moment.

If this were only stronger and lasted longer, it just might be one of the greatest designer scents ever. I absolutely love it from the start; warm, inviting, leathery. It's got distinction, backbone, class, and yet doesn't ever go too far and become outlandish. My only issue with it is that I could easily go through a bottle in a few months, as it just disappears on me in almost no time. My biggest hope is that the new owners of the Helmut Lang brand will release this one again in an EDT or EDP concentration.

If this fragrance were a color it would be a transluscent white; clean, luminous and modern. It is a really nice balance of clear sparkling notes and softer almost floral notes. The leather, I'm not getting - in an obvious way at any rate. The longevity is quite good. This is a nice uplifting, positive fragrance. This could pair well with more casual clothing for a night out. It could also dress up for formal occaisions, since it is distinct and present but not intrusive. Seems to be a fragrance for all seasons.

If it is leather that you want, Cuiron delivers in a big way. A bit dryer then I would like but not bad and the Plum note helps. I think it is good enough to recommend, especially for someone really into leather but I still prefer Creeds Royal English Leather.

I have been wearing Cuiron quite a bit lately. I have to say, I think some of these reviews would mislead someone trying to understand this fragrance. Smooth?!? Cuiron strikes me as anything but smooth. I can see where Mario and Supermarky are coming from but I love the stuff. I agree - it's sharp, incredibly sharp. But I think it is leather - well the smell of the chemicals that make cow hide into leather anyway - sort of like the smell you get when you walk into a leather goods store, with all that new, unworn, unseasoned leather. I don't know about citrus, maybe it's part of the sharpness, but there is a sweet plum note in here. In some ways, this could be seen as a Cuir Mauresque Light. It's the same sharp leather with sweet fruity notes, only here there are no spices to complicate things, and this is much thinner, not as round. As it dries down it softens a bit, never really getting powdery soft though, and still retaining its crispness and bite. I think it smells youthful and energetic...and a little left-of-center. I find myself wearing this to the office a good bit - the EDC concentration makes it light enough to do so. Surprisingly, it lasts all day on me, especially if I spray under my shirt.

I had written in a review for Creed's Royal English Leather that it and Tabac Blond were, to me, the two definitive renderings of leather in perfumery; I'm compelled to add a third: Cuiron.Minimalist, unfussy, elegant, sober, and solid, this scent is not about Sillage or development. It is just leather shorn, with the aid of a dash of musk and the barest hint of "plum", of roughness.Make no mistake though, it is a long lasting scent of both depth and style.Again, dab only a small quantity, not more, onto your pulse points. After a while, neither you nor anyone else will overtly notice it, except, and this is Cuiron's charm, for an almost subliminal and everpresent awareness of cleanliness, comfort and warmth.Superb.

A very sensual leather fragrance, though there's much going on besides the leather. This is like a toned down version of CDG 2 Man without the smoke and harshness. The Cuiron has a sweet character to it, but not in a sense of powdery or candy-like sweet. It is much more like a clean softness. It's too bad this scent is being discontinued as i've heard. It is a must have for leather lovers, and arguably the best leather fragrance ever made.

This is smooth. And I couldn't understand why my wife likes cuiron but its growing on me and its different than all my other frags that I own right now. Though I have to apply more of cuiron to get it to stay on me. Members here opened my eyes to a great scent and thank you. My wife is a very hard test to pass and cuiron is what she likes and that says a lot. As of now cuiron is my flagship or a star on my roster and I'm going to build around this star, dzing, geir, and cherigui are soon to be added to the roster

Great leather fragrance–a sharp citrus combined with a masculine “fluid” leather provides a very strong opening. When joined by plum, wood, “sensual” leather, and suede, the sharpness lessens and the smoothness intensifies. The base of “noble” leather and musk is rich and subtle: This is the best part of the progression–discreet, smooth, and wonderful. All this leather and still Cuiron stays suave and civilized.

This is lovely - dry and soft, comforting and familiar, it doesn't vary but that's part of its charm. Best for me under a shirt where the fragrance can occasionally seep out and remind me of its presence.

A leather scent that isn't a slap in the face like the brutish, animalic likes of Fendi Uomo. It depends on what "animal" you'd like to be for the day. Cuiron is more synthetic aldehydic in the beginning, then develops to a sweet, smooth lickable (oh no, here we go limbic system kicking in), dream of seduction.

I was never keen on leather frags until this scent. It introduced my nose to a different aspect of leather. It's sweet and reminds me of "Jack & Coke" off the top. I wouldn't describe it as being dry at all. In fact I think it is rather wet and it dries down to a soft, comforting leather that isn't overly masculine. It's a staple in my autumn wardrobe.

Excellent and unique. I don't know about the "plum", but I like it better than any of the "old school" leather fragrances that I've tried. Lasts a very long time. Best for cool-to-cold weather. I've still to try it out while wearing a leather jacket... it should go great.
