I went into this one completely blind, & you should too! So I'm going to keep it brief on details. I thought this was such a quirky, beautifully written, touching, & fun story! It wasn't at all what I expected. I was a little nervous in the beginning that this wasn't going to be something I could get into, but I ended up really liking it. The characters are relatable, the banter & conversation is perfect & hilarious at times. (The vintage car was literally laughing out loud picturing all the banter between everyone). I felt inspired & it was such a good reminder that even though life may throw a wrench in your plans sometimes, you just need to sit back, roll with the punches, believe in chance encounters & trust that timing can truly be everything. I loved how Phoebe stopped living her life for the comfort of other people, & started living for herself. Choosing to be unapologetically honest, upfront, & choosing to stop caring what everyone else thinks & just to wear the dang dress!
enjoyable

I found this to be a slow paced book but it had wonderful and snappy dialogue between the characters. For me, the dialogue saved the book. Phoebe, a professor married to another professor, lacks ambition and has difficulty with follow-through. While she struggles with fertility issues, her husband doesn't mind so much--as Phoebe finds out when he leaves her for another woman. All this is to say that Phoebe is not enjoying life, she is drinking too much, having difficulties getting to work and ready to call it quits in life. She ends up at a hotel that is full of "wedding people." Thank you to NetGalley and Henry Holt and Co. for the digital ARC. This review is my own and not coerced in any way. 4 stars.

4 Stars! This book kept me interested and invested the whole time and I enjoyed reading it. I was getting teary eyed on one page and smiling the next. The main character, Phoebe, was funny, real, sad yet witty, even through the sadness of her life & the secondary characters were, for the most part, lovable and I was rooting for all of them to have a happy ending. I wouldn't say this was a romance, but the ending makes you think the romance is coming for 2 couples after the book ends. I would've liked an epilogue to hint at those relationships a bit more but all in all it was a fabulous read that I'd definitely recommend.
*I received this book at no charge & I voluntarily left this review.*
Not for Me

The description sounded lighthearted and fun; this book was anything but. I kept listening waiting for it to get funny but it went from depressing and sad to a book about nothing really. It felt like a long, drawn out episode of Seinfeld, which I am not a fan of. I felt for Phoebe and Lilah, as they were both in rough situations but I found the story to be slow and heavy.
