Good but a caution

January 20, 2019I can see where John is coming from and he makes a lot of good points. My caution is the section pages 124 to 130 about losing your salvation if you harbor unforgiveness towards someone. If my nephew Billy destroyed my daughter's treasured possession and Sue would not forgive him, screaming every time he came around that she hated him and he was not allowed in the house etc, I would not disown her and make her live on the street! I would give her some serious discipline. Other places in the Bible say that the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, full stop. Not through Jesus Christ plus through us forgiving others. Jesus' sacrifice is sufficient for all sin, even the sins we do not notice or realize.Sometimes I think unforgiving people are so focused on the hurt and destruction that has happened that they do not realize how displeasing they are to the Lord when they hold on to bitterness. So how I would interpret the verse about if you do not forgive, you will not be forgiven as, other sins that we confess and repent of, the Lord remembers no more, but if we hold on to unforgiveness, He will keep on trying to change us through hardship and discipline. Nothing to do with eternal salvation.

June 28, 2019"The Bait of Satan" I believe is a book that God brought across my path at this time when I am struggling with offense. I use to believe that I was a person who forgives and forgets offenses, but in the past few months I have come to the realisation that I had not let go of offense at all. This is because when the so called,"Offender" offends me again, every offense, I believe they offended me in the past, comes back to me. So I told God that I did not want to live like this and I asked for a solution. Joyce Meyer in a message on "Offense" recommended this book. I have only read a few pages, but I can see myself been represented by the characters in the book . So, I am still on the journey and learning evey step of the way. I will write another review at the end, but I could not just stop myself from writing a review now.

February 21, 2019Excellent presentation of Jesus teachings about the necessity to forgive others and not take offense. Pastor Bevere provides deeply insightful commentary on the content of many passages which I had not noticed. Every follower of Christ will benefit from the teaching in this book. Highly recommended.
