KATSUTOKU – PLAZA SENAYAN, Jakarta

Yoyoyoooo, any deep fried food lovers here?? As we all know, Katsu is a popular deep fried dish from Japan. Besides having crunchy texture on the outside, it’s also very important to maintain the juiciness of the meat while making sure that the katsu is not greasy. For legit Japanese katsu fix, Katsutoku Premium Katsu in Senayan is certainly a great option.

There’s only one solution every time we experience an unbearable longing for Japan, that is to visit Japanese restaurant and recently AnakJajan visited Katsutoku. It’s located in Plaza Senayan, Sentral Senayan basement 1 floor to be exactly, you can find the entrance to Sentral Senayan from inside The Food Hall.

Katsudon Set (Pork Sirloin) IDR 85k
If you visit the restaurant during lunch time, you can order lunch set with more affordable price from IDR 85k to IDR 105k including katsu, rice, soup, potato salad, tofu, salad, pickle and watermelon. Lunch set is available on weekdays only from 11.30 to 15.00.

From the lunch set, AnakJajan opted for Katsudon Set, it’s deep fried pork sirloin cutlet and eggs cooked in a sweet and salty broth and placed over rice.

The katsu was tender juicy, complemented nicely with soft and flavorful egg, love how well the seasoning from egg infused nicely into the rice making it almost impossible not to finish the whole bowl of rice.

Since I was having a major craving for katsu, I ordered the regular menu instead of lunch set, I got the prawn and pork tenderloin katsu with additional chicken cheese katsu since it looks sooo tempting.

The prawn was enjoyable, huge yet fresh, but the main star would be the Pork Tenderloin, crunchy while juicy, each bite was a pleasure. Don’t forget to grind some sesame seeds and mix it with their signature sauce and then dip the katsu into it for extra flavor kick.

The Chicken Cheese Katsu was also yummeh with smoked beef and generous amount of melted mozarella cheese while still tender.

Overall, price might be a bit on the high side, but AnakJajan got to say that it is worth the price, deep fried till perfection, juicy on the inside, we can see ourselves going back for more.
