The Mekong River Delta is a haven for floating markets, one of the most famous tourist attractions today. There are three popular spots in the area: Cai Be; Phung Hiep; and Cai Rang in Can Tho City. Of the three, the latter is one of the tourists' favorites, an interesting and delightful place to be especially in the early market hours. Cai Rang Floating Market sells farm products and specialties from its own and from neighboring areas as well.

Seasonal products like mango, banana, pineapple, and papaya; and even imported items like beer, soft drinks and wine are some of the items tourists can avail at the floating market. Even smuggled goods like cigarettes can be found here. These products are sold on boats which have a long, upright pole at the bow of the vessel with which to hang the items.The business starts early in the morning wherein big boats come to deliver the goods and the smaller boats in the area pick up their desired items to sell to tourists and local residents as well.

Sellers do not have to cry out in order for their products to be sold because the customers themselves come both to buy and delight at the event. The small boats also make their way through the circus-like trading to bring their products to the customers themselves.The floating market is nothing really special when you look at it, just a myriad of boats and ordinary products, but what makes it attractive to visitors is the breathtaking view along the Mekong Delta and most of all, the interesting river life of the local residents.
