Bernie Ecclestone complained that his ex-wife spent “in excess of £12 million” on their daughter’s wedding this summer as he gave a German court an insight into the family life of Britain’s fourth richest man.
Mr Ecclestone, 81, the president and chief executive of Formula One, said that he had no idea of the size of the bill until after the lavish event for his daughter Petra because he had argued with Slavica Ecclestone over the proposed cost of the drinks, which were reported to include Château Petrus wine at £4,000 a bottle.
The extravagant wedding in Italy, which included performances by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Black Eyed Peas, briefly became the focus of Germany’s biggest postwar fraud trial in Munich yesterday as
