The goat barn sheltered the does (girl goats) at Connemara.  Mrs. Sandburg operated a successfull dairy, selling milk from the farm to dairies in Asheville and Greenville.  Many of the farm's goats won top awards at state and local fairs. Jennifer II, a Toggenburg dairy goat, was internationally recognized as the top producing Toggenburg in the world in 1960. 

Mrs. Sandburg helped establish the American Dairy Goat Association, located in Spindale, NC, and was its Director for over ten years. She was honored with a lifetime directorship. A legend in the dairy goat industry, Mrs. Paula Sandburg was a champion of champions.
