I really wish they’d bring this back - along with the Mysore Sandalwood. 🙏 (But no reformulation, please.)

ROUSAK

Nice simple fresh soapy barbershop fragrance without any faults. 9.5/10

Does anyone have a replacement for this perfume?

Peter the Fragrance Lover is one of my favourite reviewers but on this one I've a slightly different experience. Firstly for those thinking of trying/buying, don't believe the note breakdown above. This is a simple, zesty, bright lime, performance is moderate. It is enjoyable on its own, summer or spring. But I sometimes layer - try it with Guerlain's Vetiver or MFK's Masculine Pluriel or Encre Noire. The lime doesnt last long but gives a lift to what are more serious fragrances. I saw the ebay prices - tbh I'm shocked. I'm sure my 100ml was about £40, few years ago, looks like the bottle in the Fragram photo section. £40 is about right for this, not 100 or even more.

PS PtFL please keep posting, I greatly enjoy your reviews!

I would have loved to try the OG. The concept / inspiration is cool, the packaging too. I agree with the previous reviewer, it's very synthetic - almost air freshener. Not great.

Crabtree & Evelyn West Indian Lime is supposed to evoke the vibe or feel of the West Indies or Caribbean, but instead it smells like a synthetic, cheap laundry detergent.
Bloody awful.

Final score: 1/10.

A blind buy from the discontinued shelf, and I love it. The vetiver is so well complemented by lime and spices, what I sense is a dry/spice with some hint of lime. Nothing is out of place, it sits in perfect balance and leaves a modest spice at the end. A cologne for office, casual dates, dinner.

Edit: After using this for some time I realized it smells like grass: soft, sweet grass with some dry spices and hint of lime.

This is the only citrus fragrance I can stand and I loved it so much whenever my partner wore it back when we were still dating. It's not sour at all compare to all the other women perfumes with citrus notes. This is heavenly, I could bathe in this anytime.

Moss in Snow

I fell for this one at first sniff and felt absolutely fine wearing it as a woman. It's definitely masculine but not in an overpowering way, it's the kind of unisex-leaning masculine that a lot of women would enjoy if they tried it.

For me this has a warm freshness and the lime note is just beautiful. Many far more expensive lime scents get nowhere near this one in terms of elegance or coherence. It reminds me of a warm, late spring evening, when the promise of summer is not far off. It is a very relaxing, calming fragrance. Clean, enveloping and warming. The longevity and sillage are not fantastic but for me the scent is worth living with those issues. Old school beautiful.

Good News, I just spoke with A Rep from Crabtree & E...West Indian Lime will be available again towards the end of May 2018.. I look forward to buying another bottle!

A bit of a dark horse, Crabtree & Evelyn's WIL is one of the nicest citrus fragrances I own. If you look at price to performance, it's undoubtedly the best. Cheap as chips if you can find it on sale (I paid under USD 30 for 100 ml) or at an outlet store. The rest of the line (soap, shower gel, shaving cream) are great as well, however I haven't liked the other C&E fragrances (Indian Sandalwood and Moroccan Myrrh).

It opens with fresh, zesty lime notes. Unlike most WIL fragrances, it doesn't veer into sweet territory but remains somewhat tart throughout. There's a hint of spice from the ginger and coriander, and then the sandalwood and vetiver kick in. A lovely clean, fresh lime fragrance for the summer.

Longevity is average, I get around 4-5 hours out of this with moderate sillage. At this price point, though, you could reapply a couple of times and not worry.

I'm from England. West Indian Lime has that old world vibe of a Victorian barbershop lime cologne splash that I recall my grandfather wearing. I find it very fresh, clean, classic lime scent with undertones of sandalwood and musk. Very classic British masculine fragrance. Great scent for summer, has a nice dry down of citrus. I would consider this a unisex fragrance as well, since my wife practically used up my whole bottle!

EasyToAssemble

I'm a fan of natural citrus fragrances, so naturally this one was on my list to try.
Though it carries some citrus, I find this to be the 'clean' edge of lime rather than it's sharpness (which is what I was aiming for). However, the delivery is still really fresh and very natural-smelling, and - mercifully - without a trace of any candy/detergent associations so often found with citruses. This has a grassy, barbershop / shaving soap component to it, and whilst I would have preferred more citrus-kick, it's a really clean, non-synthetic scent and perfect for hot days.
As expected with colognes, the lifespan is short and it doesn't project a lot. But if you're content with your own clean, grassy scent on a summer day / after the gym / down at the beach, this one is a great, inexpensive bottle to have in your collection

Paco Rabanne Sport has been on my wishlist forever and I have finally found a cheaper and less elusive replacement. YAY!

CGV

Adorable! Its similarity to Paco Rabanne Sport makes this already extremely desirable and the sea vibe that I get just gives me the most relaxed and calm, comforting feeling! Its much more than just a simple lime fragrance. Effortlessly beatiful! Performance is nice as well. Love it!!

So far, this is my favourite summer scent, even more than Aventus (for the summer only) . The lime is sublime. It's a completely refreshing lime/vetiver combo, I even pick up musk, that is classy and totally refreshing. I go crazy on the trigger and do about 10 sprays. You could be very generous with spraying and it won't be offensive as its ECD so it's very light.

If you're looking for a summer fragrance that is refreshing, light, with an amazing scent AND very inexpensive, then give this a try. $45 for 100 ml.

Scent 10/10

You don't buy this for the longevity or the projection as it's not much; you only buy it because it makes you feel so good :)

MattyC

I recently picked this up at an outlet mall for a steal. under 50c (cdn) per ml. Couldn't be happier with this scent. For me its a barbershop in a bottle. The opening is beautiful limes and fresh soap drying down into a soft soapy woody vetiver still holding the Lime throughout. Not a powerhouse for projection but lasts a very long time on my skin and clothing.

scentdoctor

after 5 mins it smells exactly like colonia essenza, under 50$ for a 100ml. pretty good deal.

BettyNoir

Absolutely gorgeous- it smells like expensive bathrooms and has a fresh clean tang. Meant for men, but totally unisex. The limes are just gorgeous.

judiness

My husband recently bought this frag and it makes me absolutely crazy. We also have the soap and all of the products of this line smell exactly the same. The soap is triple milled and is of excellent quality!

This smell on him (and on me) mostly of lime vetiver and ginger. It's a very nice fresh and clean type of smell that does not smell too generic, nor makes you smell like a margarita.

Casavulva

Good reviews and cheap, but I'm not all that convinced.

There is a nice blend of limelike notes, vetiver, ginger and some more. But the fragrance quickly turns unfocused, somewhat blurry and soapy.

Well, I guess for the price, not so bad. But it seems increasingly clear to me that there IS a difference between high quality (often expensive unfortunately) and lower.

There are better options out there for fresh colognes.

Now with this here, I actually have both versions, the original and the reformulated and of course like with most, the vintage is better. With the vintage, you get stronger notes as opposed to the current. The current is very much tamed so to speak.

Arabian Knight

The lime and ginger are fresh and zingy, however, the dominating sandal wood makes the quality feel like dry soap overall.

Nevertheless, a clean smell that would be nice to spritz in summer weather.

Longevity is less than 15 minutes, after which I can only catch whisps of sandalwood.

*EDIT* This is really starting to grow on me actually. It lasts much longer on clothes than on my skin and smells impeccably fresh. Turning into a handy daytime scent.

brett181

A clean citrus fragrance with enough spicyness to make it stand out from some of the other nasty, synthetic citrus blend outs there. Apparently this is their top selling male fragrance now.

nero77

Brilliant fragrance. Very zesty and fresh! It opens with a blast of freshly squeezed lime juice and stays that way throughout. Simple but great.

Note: The bottle I have is a vintage formulation called "Extract of West Indian and Sicilian Limes", Coincidentally that version is also one of Prince Charles' personal fragrances... so apparently you should wear this if you want to feel like a British Royal heir!

Highly recommended for summer and all year round!

nattonline

Manly soft, mellowy refreshing, woody floral, and that sweet but not so oh tangy lime. It sounds contradicting but it's how I see this fragrance.Very nice and very natural smelling. Making me think of a vacation, that I never had, spending a day sipping margarita, beach bar, and a straw hat.

IsaIsabella

Lime, lime and more lime, this fragrance starts off. Then, there's a bit of sweetness to it, probably due to the florals. A little woody, a little spicy, like a characteristic male fragrance(but heck, screw gender notions when it comes to frags!). Rather zesty as well, like a pretty limeade.

Verdict: Nice, worth a sniff. Price is decent. A bit generic, though.
Longevity: 3-4 hours on skin.

beaconaust

While I like it quite a bit, I wish the lime would cut through more. Lime is a scent for warmer weather and should react to the heat spots on your body. This scent is just too light to be effective spun less your use the shower gel and then follow it up with the cologne. I also believe they should have omitted the sandalwood from the base notes as it tends to dominate thedry down too much.

andrevarx

A EDC with a lemon scent sophisticated, very mature, classy. It's really combinations of lemon-lime citrus, with a twist.

Only middle-aged men on, the fragrance is too mature to be used by young men or teens. Very good fragrance if you like citrus smells.

rictor07

This is one of my favorite citrus scents. Its just bursting with lime. Its great for summer. Has surprising sillage and longevity for being only a Eau de Cologne concentration, but perhaps that is because i like to spray a lot. The price is very reasonable, and easy to find. The only downside i see is that their is really no evolution for me, its the same from start to finish.

pop270

Awesome fragrance. Unlike a lot of citrus fragrances, this one doesn't have to cool off to smell good. Goes on pleasant and stays pleasant. I'd definitely recommend this fragrance for men living in hot/tropical climates. It's more of an active fragrance as well(i.e. good for work or being out and about). 8 out of 10 stars.

vladimir

West Indian Lime it`s a good classic unique scent that lasts all day. It starts off with a fresh lime accord but the dry down smells spicy (coriander, nutmeg and ginger) and sweet(base notes of warm sandalwood, juniper and cedar). Has many similarities with Penhaligon's Lords except it has a woody and slightly spicy finish. And I think this one is very close to the notes in Crabtree & Evelyn original scent - Extract of East Indian Lemon and Spices which was discontinued. This fragrance is for men, not boys!
