You either loathe it or you love it, and for the latter group, Parkroyal on Pickering’s Lime Restaurant’s newest ‘Thorny Temptations’ buffet is a dream come true. With the king of fruits as the headlining act, this massive buffet will bring you on a gastronomic journey as you sample endless dishes revolving around this iconic fruit.

Begin the night by tempting your tastebuds with some delicious starters, such as the poached tiger prawn, durian mousse, quinoa and crunchy vegetables salad or foie gras torchon with torched meringue and durian powder. Then, move on to some hearty mains that include the likes of durian ravioli with sage and garlic butter, as well as grilled chicken and durian in tortilla – for fans of Indian cuisine, there is also the gulai fish curry with fermented durian, or prata with durian and gula melaka. If you like your food ultra spicy, definitely don’t miss out on the butter durian prawn with curry leaves and chilli padi, or the wok fried prawn and petai with sambal durian.

Last but not least, it is time for everyone’s favourite part: dessert. Satisfy your sweet tooth with durian pastries such as the pandan crepes with durian mousse, durian and gula melaka gateau and the mini durian crumble. Or, if you prefer something more traditional, try the chendol durian and durian pengat. For those who are not afraid of expanding their waistlines (and this should really be a cheat day), don’t forget to indulge in the deep fried durian ice cream.

If you still prefer the old-school way of chomping down on durians from a traditional stall by the road side in Geylang, don’t worry – there is a specially demarcated area that is set up like a traditional durian stall where chefs will wield their knives and pop open all the D24s and Mao Shan Wangs that you’d like.

Lime Restaurant is located at Parkroyal on Pickering, 3 Upper Pickering Street.
