Asclepias fruticosa

Also known as African Milkweed. The fruit of this tall plant is round and translucent and covered in gentle spikes. Inside this globe is a pod, crescent shaped and opaque, again spiny, and containing dozens of brown seeds, each attached to a silken parachute. It is a lovely plant, tall and thin and bearing its papery fruit like pale green lanterns. This plant is a little more complex than the milkweed I am used to, which skips the globe and just produces the pods that burst open with flying seeds.
