Eco Six Bali

📌 Location: Ubud

Highlights: unique private pools and bamboo villas, eco-conscious resort, stunning interior design, home cinema movie projectors

Eco Six Bali is situated just a 20-minute drive from the bustling center of Ubud. This eco-conscious bamboo resort is surrounded by lush jungle and idyllic rice fields and has just opened in 2021. Eco Six Bali definitely belongs to the most unique places to stay in Ubud.

The resort features six unique 1- and 2-bedroom bamboo villas. Each villa is characterized by its own individual architecture and design. The names of the different villas are: Arch, Dome, Hut, Beetle, Moon, and Enam.

We have stayed at the Dome villa and the Hut villa and absolutely loved both experiences. In the Dome villa, my personal highlight was the open living room with the home cinema projector. The standout feature of the Hut villa certainly is the mind-blowing rooftop pool with incredible views of the Gunung Agung volcano.

Eco Six Bali definitely belongs to the most unusual places to stay in Bali that you MUST visit! It’s absolutely worth the price.

Beyond Bayou Bali

📌 Location: Seminyak

Highlights: distinctive architecture, aesthetic design, luxurious villas and rooms

Beyond Bayou is located in a central location in Seminyak. The resort features five Master Villas with a private plunge pool and four designer Suites that are built around the lagoon style main pool. Beyond Bayou has just opened in 2021, so everything is brand new. It is still a hidden gem when it comes to unique stays in Bali.

We stayed in one of the Master Villas at Beyond Bayou and were impressed by the stunning design and aesthetic details of the villa. The interior design really is a delight to the eyes. I absolutely loved the modern style and luxurious features.

If you are a foodie, make sure to try the Beyond Bites snack menu of the resort or visit the Beyond Mixology invitation-only cocktail bar. It’s the perfect way to complement your relaxing stay at this exceptional lifestyle resort.

Camaya Bali

📌 Location: Sidemen

Highlights: unique bamboo houses, hanging nets, heated outdoor jacuzzi, incredible views, nature

If you are looking for cool places to stay in Bali, Camaya Bali is a must-visit! For me, it’s not only one of the coolest hotels in Bali but in the world. Camaya Bali is only a 20 minutes drive from Sidemen (East Bali) and offers an unapparelled bamboo villa experience in the middle of nature.

The property consists of six unique bamboo houses: Suboya, Pyramid, Lotus, Butterfly, Metangi, and Santai. Each house has a unique design theme and offers everything you need: bedrooms with incredible views over the rice terraces, a hanging net to relax, free WIFI, a private bathroom, a garden area, and a heated outdoor pool.

We stayed at the Lotus House and the Pyramid House. I really loved both houses, but if I had to pick one favorite it would be the Lotus House. I absolutely loved the overall vibe and design of the villa.

Camaya Bali is fully booked most of the time, so make sure to book way ahead of time to secure your preferred villa or check for last-minute offers. In case your favorite villa isn’t available, you seriously can’t go wrong with any of their villas.

Note: Due to the open design of the houses, there is no air conditioning. Also, you will encounter insects and bugs because Camaya Bali is located in the middle of nature. But don’t worry, all beds are equipped with mosquito nets.

Magic Hills Bali

📌 Location: Sidemen

Highlights: impressive new bamboo houses, outdoor pool, hanging net & hammock, nature views

Right next to Camaya Bali, you can find Magic Hills Bali. Magic Hills Bali opened in 2021 and currently offers five bamboo houses: Queen House, Angel House, Princess House, Summer House, and Nomad House.

We stayed at the Queen House and really loved the spacious open design of this unusual accommodation. My favorite spot was the hanging net upstairs which is the perfect place to chill and enjoy the magnificent views. Queen House has two bedrooms (one upstairs and one downstairs), so it can accommodate up to four guests.

I also really liked that they provided all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. They even prepared additional blankets for the hanging net and a beautiful flower arrangement in the outdoor jacuzzi. Moreover, they have board games and an ukulele. I can highly recommend staying at Magic Hills Bali. These beautiful bamboo houses rightfully belong to the most unique hotels in Bali.

Note: Like in any other openly designed bamboo house, you will encounter insects and bugs at Magic Hills Bali but all the beds are equipped with mosquito nets.

Skai Joglo

📌 Location: Ubud

Highlights: unique treehouses and plunge pools, aesthetic interior design, delicious floating breakfast

Skai Joglo is located a 15-minute drive from the center of Ubud and features two jungle treehouses: Cahaya Joglo and Pelangi Joglo. The Joglos are Indonesian wooden houses which have been built using traditional techniques and locally sourced materials. Both treehouses have two bedrooms, show a similar layout and offer the same amenities but they are uniquely designed.

We stayed at the Cahaya Joglo and immediately fell in love with the beautiful architecture and minimalistic interior design using natural textures. The antique wood mixed with the contemporary details makes this place a truly unique accommodation and one of the coolest places to stay in Bali when it comes to aesthetics and design.

Another highlight of this treehouse is the awesome plunge pool literally floating in the jungle treetops. We enjoyed a delicious floating breakfast in this pool. It’s definitely an amazing experience that you won’t forget!

Munduk Moding Plantation

📌 Location: Munduk

Highlights: luxurious eco hotel, world-famous infinity pool, coffee plantation, stunning views

Munduk Moding Plantation is our favorite hotel in North Bali. If you haven’t been to North Bali yet, I highly recommend visiting this beautiful area. We have stayed at Munduk Moding Plantation twice already and would go back anytime when we travel to Bali.

The resort is nestled in a working coffee plantation and is famous for its iconic infinity pool overlooking the incredible scenery. Munduk Moding Plantation undoubtedly belongs to the most beautiful places to stay in Bali when it comes to luxury eco hotels.

We stayed in a villa with a heated private pool and jacuzzi (Frangipani) which offered spectacular views of the lush valley. The villa also had a cozy fireplace for cold evenings because the climate in North Bali is much colder than in the rest of the island. It’s the perfect place for a romantic getaway in the mountains.

Munduk Moding Plantation also offers daily free activities for their guests like yoga classes, coffee classes and guided treks through the plantation that make your stay even more memorable. The resort certainly is one of the top locations if you look for luxury accommodation in Bali. For me, it definitely is one of the best hotels in Bali. The Udaya Resort & Spa is only 7 minutes away from the vibrant center of Ubud. If you look for a luxury spa resort in Ubud, the Udaya is a fantastic choice. The resort is surrounded by lush greenery and features a splendid main swimming pool, authentic Balinese lodging (we stayed in one of their beautiful Ubud Pool Suites), a great restaurant and an award-winning spa. The Kaveri Spa is especially known for its unique flower bath designs which can perfectly be combined with other spa treatments.

Another unique feature of the Udaya is the Sky Yoga Hut which is located at the rooftop of the main building and overlooks the whole property. The views are truly amazing!

Maya Ubud is a luxurious 5-star resort in Ubud which spans across 10 hectares of lush nature. The jungle resort is nestled in-between tropical rainforest, an idyllic river valley and green rice terraces. I absolutely loved the Balinese charm and the unique experiences Maya Ubud has to offer, especially the daily complimentary activities for your body, mind & soul. My favorite places of the resort were the stunning Riverside Pool and the Spa at Maya which exceeded all my expectations.

We stayed in a Heavenly Pool Villa which offered a lot of space and privacy. The villa is built in a modern Balinese style and features a large garden area with a private pool. The resort is a beautiful oasis that features gorgeous Balinese style lodging.

We stayed in one of their unique one-bedroom jungle view villas with a large hammock. I really loved the unique style of this villa which is perched among the treetops. The jungle views from the hammock were absolutely phenomenal. It’s the perfect spot to relax and immerse yourself in nature. Make sure to check it out if you look for a unique stay in Bali!

I would also like to highlight the Botanist Restaurant at the Blue Karma Dijiwa Ubud which serves internationally inspired wellness cuisine. I was completely blown away by the quality and taste of the dishes. I can highly recommend dining here if you stay at Blue Karma Dijiwa Ubud.

Beehouse Dijiwa Ubud

📌 Location: Ubud

Highlights: unique beehive shaped villas, lagoon pool, peaceful nature

Just a couple of minutes outside of Ubud, you can find Beehouse Dijiwa Ubud. The resort consists of only a few villas and is reserved for adults only, so it offers a truly intimate experience. We stayed in a one-bedroom pool villa surrounded by beautiful rice paddies. Due to the unusual beehive shape of the villas, this property definitely has to be included in the most unique places to stay in Bali. I’ve never seen houses like this anywhere else.

Beehouse Dijiwa Ubud also features a stunning lagoon style pool stretching throughout the whole resort. It felt like a relaxing oasis in the middle of nature and is the perfect place to hang out on a hot tropical day.

Patal Kikian Villas

📌 Location: Sidemen

Highlights: infinity pool, incredible views of Mount Agung and the surrounding rice terraces

Patal Kikian Villas is located in Sidemen (East Bali). The highlight of the small resort is the breathtaking infinity pool with unrivaled views of mighty Mount Agung. We were lucky to see the volcano in all of its splendor on a cloud free day.

We stayed in one of their wooden deluxe bungalows with an outdoor shower which was really nice. Sidemen is the perfect place if you look for a peaceful nature getaway and want to experience more authentic sides of Bali away from the tourist crowds. This rural area is characterized by green rice terraces and small idyllic villages.

We really loved our stay at Patal Kikian Villas. It’s undoubtedly one of the best places to stay in Bali to marvel at the impressive Mount Agung volcano while chilling by an amazing infinity pool.

Sal Secret Spot

📌 Location: Uluwatu

Highlights: unique pool, boho vibes, close to the beach, unique accommodation in Bali

If you are looking for a unique boutique hotel in Bali with laid-back boho vibes, Sal Secret Spot is the perfect place for you. The boutique hotel is situated in Uluwatu, close to Bingin Beach and Padang Padang Beach. The highlight of this eco-friendly resort is the unique salt water swimming pool which is the perfect place to relax and read a book from their own library collection. I absolutely loved this charming place, it’s totally my kind of vibe!

The rooms of Sal Secret Spot are located in two different locations. We stayed in one of their Main Sal Resort Rooms right by the pool (around 200 meters from the cliffs) but they also have Beach Sal Resort Rooms which are located directly at the beach.

For me, Sal Secret Spot is one of the most beautiful boho boutique hotels in Bali.
