Actor Vishal recently opened up about his ‘major altercation’ with Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies. While there have been many rumours about the production banner where it has been suggested that they have been trying to dominate film distribution in Tamil cinema, no one has opened up about it until now. Vishal said a person at the production house asked his producer to postpone the film, which infuriated him.

“During Enemy (2021) film release an incident happened. I don’t know if Udhay (Udhayanidhi Stalin) knows or not. Yes, I had a major altercation with one particular person at Red Giant. No one has the right to ask someone to postpone their film. Nobody owns cinema. Anyone who claimed that ‘Tamil cinema is in my hands’ never flourished. I am speaking for my producer, who pays interest. We all shed blood and sweat for the film and you sitting inside an AC room ask us to release the film later. Who gave you the right? I asked him, ‘Have you leased the whole industry?” he told Galatta.

Vishal claimed that the same incident occurred again during the release of Mark Antony. “I couldn’t digest what he was doing to me. I took the phone and said, ‘Who are you to tell me to postpone the film? Let the people decide which film should work.’ So, we released Mark Antony and it was a hit. It gave profit to my producer, a better life to director Aadhik Ravichandran, and a hit for me. If I had been silent, it wouldn’t have happened. I am sure there will be an issue for my upcoming film Rathanam as well. Nobody dares to say this out. If all the producers come together, the film industry will be on a different level. One should draw a line between business and friendship.”

Vishal said that everyone in the industry has toiled a lot and no one can claim that the industry is owned by them. “It would backfire majorly someday. I will face whatever problem I get for Rathnam.”

Vishal has also assured that he is entering politics ahead of the 2026 state election. Many rumors are making the rounds claiming that the actor will be joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, but the actor has not confirmed his allegiance yet. “Let’s decide whether I am contesting alone or joining a party later,” he said.

Festive offer

Vishal will next be seen in Rathnam, directed by Hari. Also starring Priya Bhavani Shankar, the film is set to be released on April 26. Touted to be a rural action drama, the film also has Samuthirakani, Vijayakumar, and Gautham Menon in pivotal roles.
