Look what a found in the tank today, is it a majano anemone?

If it is, do I have to kill it? I really like it, will it spread quickly?

That's no majano. This is the good stuff, some type of bubble tip coral or anemone. Good find

Yeah...I kinda agree...looks bleached though....what kind of lighting do you have?
Don't try to move it....I think that will only stress it further....
Your tank is fairly new...isn't it???

Yeah, my tank is about 6 weeks old or so. I have compact florescent a total of 260 watts, 2 white and 2 actinic. It's a 75 gallon tank.
I am happy it isn't bad, because it really is neat, it's true color is more of a light green. It just came up today, so I don't know....

HMMM....The problem is this....most (not all) anemones do not do well under fluorescent lights or in newer tanks....Maybe you will get lucky.....
You need to keep you water in excellent condition for this anemone to stand a chance

Would placing it higher in the tank be worth trying? Would I gain that much by getting it a foot closer to the lights?

IDK that i would mess with it.....since it just popped out today...wait and see what happens
Fluorescent lights are not as "intense" as T5HO or Metal halides...so IDK
how far down is it anyway??

It's only about 15 inches down. I'll just keep an eye on it. I am really excited I don't have to kill it.

Could be Majano. Look around, see any others?
Majano from the Apachi tribe, or maybe the Northwestern plains?

That don't look like any Majano I have ever seen.

Not saying it is a Majano, just want the OP to keep an open mind here.
I am. If I see it start to reproduce, that would be a clue it is Majano, right? I am keeping a close eye on it regardless.

Possibly, but it's highly doubtful that you have one of those species. This really looks like a bubble tip anemone or coral. He just got overlooked in the trading hands process, and you are the lucky recipient. I wouldn't try to move it. If it popped up and looks this good on it's own, leave it alone and see what happens. Take a couple pics in a few days and put up here.
