Network Engineer, Deployment - Singapore
This position can be based in Hong Kong, Singapore, or Taiwan.

The end result of team's work is the delivery of Google's products and services to users around the world. We build and operate Google's production network, which connects the server farms in data centers to each other and to the Internet.
The role: Network Engineer, Deployment
As a Network Deployment Engineer, you will help to grow one of the world's largest and most complex private data networks. You will design, build, and integrate new Google POPs and datacenters and will plan and execute upgrades and augmentations to Google's existing network. You will also work closely with project managers, network architects, and other network engineers to develop standards, templates, and best practices and to continuously improve our operation. In addition to the technical requirements listed below, the best candidates will have a flexible, can-do attitude, strong organization and communication skills, and the ability to work with little supervision either independently or as part of a successful team. Top candidates will also be able to recognize and reinforce the importance of details like documentation, cable management, and meticulous network designs.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with other engineers and project managers to provide on-site and remote oversight of the installation and commissioning of new sites, routers, and WDM rings/systems, including hot-cut and parallel-build node moves.
- Produce rack elevations, site layouts, and cable/port maps from higher-level network designs.
- Turn up new WAN/LAN transport circuits (SONET, 10GE, etc.) and WDM links. Troubleshooting with vendors and onsite contacts as needed.
- Maintain excellent network documentation.,/li>
- Travel to support projects as needed (estimated at 25-50%).
Requirements:
- Significant experience with hands-on, field-based installation/deployment of network gear in POPs, carrier hotels, large datacenters, and central offices for service providers or very large enterprise (NOC experience may also be considered).
- Proven, demonstrable skills in network design, implementation, and integration in operationally sensitive production environments.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices for rack builds/rack and stack and cable management/dressing (especially fiber-optic cable).
- Experience installing and commissioning optical/WDM networks and testing and troubleshooting transport technologies (including SONET/SDH).
- Solid knowledge of IP fundamentals including IP addressing and VLSM, VLAN, and routing configuration.
- Hands-on experience with power planning and installation (including AC- and DC-powered environments) is a significant plus.
