The area: People Technology and Operations

The People Technology and Operations team designs, implements, and continuously evolves innovative technology tools that enable all aspects of the HR function. Googlers around the world use these tools to access and manage people-related information. Our team also leverages them to administer core People Programs, including collecting and maintaining accurate data over the course of an employee's lifecycle, generating useful management information, and resolving end-user issues. These activities are complemented by a focus on optimizing operational processes, from problem definition and design to execution. The role: People Technology and Operations Specialist

As a People Technology and Operations Specialist, you will utilize your bilingual skills in Japanese and English to perform core transactional work (inquiry response, data entry and reporting, data audits, etc. ), problem-solve for special cases as well as manage projects to improve existing processes, and migrate to new processes or systems or roll out processes to new organizations. You will be assigned ownership for one or more PTO processes and will be responsible for managing the process, operating it reliably, and for continuous improvements. This may include management of other stakeholders involved such as vendors or other program partners.

You pay excellent attention to details, can be trusted to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, have superior organizational and time management skills, and be able to juggle multiple tasks while meeting strict deadlines. You have a bias for execution and a high level of drive and creativity to constantly improve your area of responsibility.

The position is an excellent opportunity to get a broad introduction to People Operations and HR at Google. You will have an opportunity to learn about a variety of HR processes and to interact with stakeholders in different People Operations teams in JAPAC and globally. In addition, you will acquire widely reusable organizational skills in the areas of project/program management, process improvement, metrics and measurements, and vendor management.

Previous HR background is not a requirement.

Responsibilities:

• Take over ownership of one or more PTO processes, and assume responsibility for operations, management, and continuous improvement of these processes. Operations of a process may include highly-reliable data entry around employee information, customer-friendly handling and resolution of user inquiries, questions, and problems, auditing of process data, analysis and resolution of problems and special cases, and communication with HRBPs, recruiters, and other stakeholders.
• Management of processes, including definition, collection, and analysis of process metrics, cooperation, and communication with relevant stakeholders (other People Operations teams, Finance, Legal, HR Business Partners, Staffing), along with relationship and contract management with vendors and outsourcers.
• Process improvement, including identification of problems and opportunities for enhancement of process parameters (quality, error rates, turn-around time, and customer satisfaction, etc.), definition and assessment of improvement options, and execution/project management for the respective initiatives.

Requirements:

• BA/BS degree preferred with a strong academic record.
• Bilingual skills in Japanese and English are required.
• Human resources experience (in particular HRIS/HRMS administration and operations) is an advantage.
• Affinity to technology, including intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word along with Web/Internet/HTML skills. Experience with enterprise-type applications is preferred. Experience with process automation utilizing IT applications and tools are very helpful.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong time management and multi-tasking skills.
• Excellent customer service skills and a welcoming and helpful attitude.
• High level of energy, creativity, perseverance, and openness to change.
